Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might like to see:

You are welcome to continue editing without logging in, but you may want to consider creating an account. Doing so is free, requires no personal information, and provides several benefits such as the ability to create articles. For a full outline and explanation of the benefits that come with creating an account, please see this page. If you edit without a username, your IP address (1.43.27.80) is used to identify you instead.

In any case, I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your IP address (or username if you're logged in) and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question and then place {{helpme}} before the question on this page. Again, welcome! Your reverts edits

[edit]

Hi. Instead of just blindly reverting and degrading an article, perhaps you should discuss it on the talk page as you have been asked. I'm afraid if you simply revert again, i'm going to lose the assumption that you are acting in good faith and view your actions as vandalism. Cheers, LindsayHello 04:09, 11 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

In fact, i'm taking a look at a selection of your most recent edits and seeing a large number of problems with them. You have broken formatting, removed data, removed links to other articles, and generally made the articles less useful. Please, stop and consider becoming a useful member of the community before you are blocked for vandalism. Cheers, LindsayHello 04:21, 11 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, and please also refrain from adding death information from unreliable sources, such as IMDb, to Wikipedia, as you did at Vonda Phelps. Wikipedia welcomes only verifiable information, particularly in relation to the biographies of living people, and we cannot post rumors that are floating around until they are represented in reliable sources. Thank you for understanding. Canadian Paul 23:40, 11 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Revert

[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm LindsayH. I wanted to let you know that I undid one or more of your recent contributions to Richard Moir because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. No, you have broken the formatting, taken out information, removed a heading for no purpose, and changed the structure of the infobox. If you wish to edit constructively, and i hope you do, please, read some of the links you have been given, and adhere to the community's standards. Edit summaries

[edit]

Hi there.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field – please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you.--220 of Borg 17:14, 20 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Summaries 2

[edit]

Information icon Hi there! Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to Lottie Lyell does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. Thanks! 220 of Borg 05:35, 21 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced edits

[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm 220 of Borg. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Balmain, New South Wales, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page.
I have reverted your edits to Balmain as they are all unsourced. Even though the Arthur Stace page says he was born there, there is no citation for that fact and seems to be incorrect. You cannot use a WP page as a source,
if that is what you did. See http://adb.anu.edu.au/biography/stace-arthur-malcolm-8615 from the Australian Dictionary of Biography at Australian National University. This source says he was born in Redfern, New South Wales. 220 of Borg 06:18, 21 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.
[edit]

Removing Redlinks might seem like a good idea, but it's not necessarily so. Please see Wikipedia:Red link. AND please use edit summaries to indicate the changes you are making. You can even leave messages for me here, or on my talkpage. ɔ 220 of Borg 09:15, 21 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Unourced edits 2

[edit]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did to Balmain, New South Wales, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article.
* Re-addition of information about Arthur Stace that is unsourced. Also using his WP page as a source as that page, likely in error, says he was born in Balmain.

Edit warring

[edit]

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be engaged in an edit war with one or more editors according to your reverts at Arthur Stace. Although repeatedly reverting or undoing another editor's contributions may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, and often creates animosity between editors. Instead of edit warring, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to be blocked from editing. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. While edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, breaking the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block. Thank you. 220 of Borg 14:07, 21 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. At least one of your recent edits, such as the edit you made to Balmain, New South Wales, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at the welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make some test edits, please use the sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page.Please, please, you are getting close to edit warring; no one wants to block you, but that may well be requested if you persist in ignoring the help you are being offered. Please communicate, as yo have been requested, talk about what you are doing, ask for help or guidance. Cheers, LindsayHello 05:03, 22 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits

[edit]

Your edits are being discussed at Wikipedia:Australian Wikipedians' notice board#Arthur Stace birthplace etc. You are invited to take part.
As 'Lindsay' says above " ... no one wants to block you, ...". We assume good faith, but if you edit war and blindly revert without communicating why, then that may unfortunately change. Regards, 220 of Borg 08:14, 22 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Electoral district of Albury, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear constructive and has been reverted. Please make use of the sandbox if you'd like to experiment with test edits. Thank you. Pat McDonald

[edit]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did to Pat McDonald (actress), without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Your claims MUST be sourced WITHIN THE ARTICLE. Assertions like "I read it somewhere" or "it's on youtube" are not sufficient. The onus is on YOU to find and insert an appropriate citation into the article. Stop being so stubborn and asserting your unsubstantiated position, and start following the Wikipedia guidelines WWGB (talk) 03:52, 15 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did to Neighbours, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. – JuneGloom07 Talk 15:20, 22 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Neighbours shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you get reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. 5 albert square (talk) 19:37, 22 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon with clock
You have been blocked from editing for a period of 36 hours for edit warring and violating the three-revert rule. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}. However, you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.  5 albert square (talk) 00:47, 23 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I will try to give many useful references and citations, but i really cannot possibly understand my view under the heading of Notable Cast Members, should not include Stefan Dennis, Elaine Smith, Paul Keane and Vivean Gray as they ARE prominent characters

Decline reason:

This does not address the reason for your block; you will need to convince someone that you understand the problem (edit warring) and will avoid this in the future. Kuru (talk) 12:13, 23 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

{{unblock|nothing has been stead of an indefinitely block, and a reason, it was lifted to be 24 Jan]]. in any case, it should shave been lifted by now, they are only for 20 hours, also they sayAPPARENTLY ,You are Still allowed to send email as per normal, but i can't even do this, very cruel and weak indeed}}

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Huey Long (singer). Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been reverted or removed.

  • If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor then please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page. Alternatively you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant notice boards.
  • If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive, until the dispute is resolved through consensus. Continuing to edit disruptively could result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. The Haz talk 18:14, 30 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced or improperly source material

[edit]

I noticed that you have been adding unsourced or improperly sourced material to an article. I have made edits as needed. You might want to check out the Referencing for beginners tutorial and the page on Citing sources for more information. The Haz talk 18:35, 30 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for trying to add a citation to the article Huey Long (singer). Please see how I reformatted it. Also, I removed the Venus Hair link as it was just a copy of the Houston Chronicle article. Also check out how I used a reference name and just linked the other cited material to that reference so as not to lead to redundancy in information. The Haz talk 18:51, 30 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Please respond here and not on the article. The Venus Hair webpage would not qualify as a reliable source and therefore should not be used as a source of information on WP. Also, you're welcome. I truly appreciate that you're trying to abide by Wikipedia standards.The Haz talk 19:22, 30 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Previewing

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your edits to Glenn Wheeler, it is recommended that you use the preview button before you save; this helps you find any errors you have made, reduces edit conflicts, and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Thank you. 220 of Borg 08:09, 2 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.
Adding to the above, you took 19 edits to add a very little amount (only 91 bytes!) to the page here. That is why it's better to use Show preview before Save page. The only possible downside is you may get an Edit conflict if you take longer between starting your edit and saving it.--220 of Borg 11:45, 2 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Muriel Steinbeck

[edit]

I suspect that this edit, here, on Muriel Steinbeck was done by you, editing as 1.42.15.25 (talk · contribs) if so, please note my comments here. I'm sure you can provide a better reference than only the name of the source! I have tagged it as an incomplete reference here. I also fixed the dates, note per WP:BADDATEFORMAT we use "20 July" not "20th July". Regards, 220 of Borg 11:45, 2 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Glenn Wheeler

[edit]

What was the point of adding "after undergoing surgeries" to the Glenn Wheeler BLP here when I had already mentioned the surgery?
i.e. "On 2 February Wheeler underwent surgery on his pelvis and leg. His condition was described as "stable" after undergoing surgeries" I've altered it to read: "His condition afterwards was described as "stable"." Note that South Sydney is a disambiguation page and should not be linked to. It should have been Southern Sydney.

Many editors have given you advice and you have largely ignored it. You need to start paying attention to people who have been editing here for years, you will find it a lot easier. --220 of Borg 16:27, 2 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced BLP edit

[edit]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did to Anita Cobby, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Text such as I removed here:

"Anita Cobby is survived by her sister Kathryn Szyskta, and her husband Walter and twins Olivia and Cameron, who continue to campaign against violence towards woman."

is un-encyclopaedic, worse it is un-sourced. 220 of Borg 16:42, 2 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Nationality or Ethnicity in lede

[edit]

Re your edits to Bryant Gumbel and his brother, please read WP: Nationality. I'm not sure whether African-American is appropriate per that guideline. 220 of Borg 02:50, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

How references work

[edit]

You have some idea about doing refs 'properly', so I borrowed this 'help' info and added template at the bottom leading to more help pages. The part headed "Citation templates" may be the most helpful to you.

Simple references

[edit]

These require two parts;

a)
Chzz is 98 years old.<ref> "The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009. </ref>

He likes tea. <ref> [http://www.nicecupofteaandasitdown.com Tea website] </ref>
b) A section called "References" with the special code "{{reflist}}";
== References ==
{{reflist}}

(an existing article is likely to already have one of these sections)

To see the result of that, please look at user:chzz/demo/simpleref. Edit it, and check the code; perhaps make a test page of your own, such as user:1.43.27.80/reftest and try it out.

Named references

[edit]
Chzz was born in 1837. <ref name=MyBook>
"The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009.
</ref>

Chzz lives in Footown.<ref name=MyBook/>

Note that the second usage has a / (and no closing ref tag). This needs a reference section as above; please see user:chzz/demo/namedref to see the result.

Citation templates

[edit]

You can put anything you like between <ref> and </ref>, but using citation templates makes for a neat, consistent look;

Chzz has 37 Olympic medals.<ref>{{Citation
 | last = Smith
 | first = John
 | title = Olympic medal winners of the 20th century
 | publication-date = 2001
 | publisher = [[Cambridge University Press]]
 | page = 125
 | isbn = 0-521-37169-4
}}
</ref>

Please see user:chzz/demo/citeref to see the result.

For more help and tips on that subject, see user:chzz/help/refs.

Formatting references using inline citations
