Hello there. Thanks for your message! However I do not have a relationship with said artist, or know them. I’m simply a fan making a page.

My last submission had issues with references— is there any way this can be reviewed? I spent quite some time updating them, finding more reliable sources.

At Soul Assassins you tried to redefine the topic but you were lacking any WP:SECONDARY sources supporting the change. At DJ Muggs you did the same thing but you also added WP:PEACOCK wording. You called him a "longstanding, influential and sometimes elusive producer" who was responsible for the "trademark" sound of Cypress Hill, and for the "conceptual" approach taken by other artists. None of this stuff was remotely supported by uninvolved third party sources. It's obvious you are trying to sell something. Binksternet (talk) 23:25, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

OK, that's fine and duly noted, re: sources.

However for the record, I'm just a fan, sharing information about a producer that I'm passionate about. I have no idea what I'd be tying to sell by calling someone who has been influential to hip-hop, 'influential', but I understand it's not impartial— fine. Yet, *all* of my edits were deleted, some of which were actual, factual information (I.e. Soul Assassins being a clothing label and record label, which they are). Plus Soul Assassins are not a marketing brand, so the information that replaced my edits are incorrect. All of DJ Muggs releases for the past seven years have been via his own record label, Soul Assassins, so how can this not be on his own Wikipedia page? Seems bizarre to me. Soul Assassins is so much more than a 'hip hop project'. https://soulassassins.com

The purpose of Wikipedia is to summarize the literature about every important topic. If the literature doesn't talk about Soul Assassins as a brand the way I believe you've been paid to represent it, then Wikipedia should not be used to fill in the missing information. If the media aren't paying attention to it, then the information is not important enough for Wikipedia.

As in every article on Wikipedia, WP:SECONDARY sources should be summarized to tell the story. Try reading AV Club or MTV – those are good sources, and they are a strong indication of what the media thinks. Don't make up your own promotional text and put it in the encyclopedia.
