COI
[edit]Hi, due to your COI on Ruth Bader Ginsburg, we have reverted your edits. We would suggest that you make edit requests on the talk page instead. Elizium23 (talk) 19:25, 9 June 2021 (UTC)
Hi! Apologies! Thank you for letting me know.

Paid editing
[edit]Hi! I see that have very properly disclosed your employee status at the American Philosophical Society, for which thank you! However, you appear to be pattern-bombing this project with links to your organisation, such as the one added at Frank Stella. Please understand that "COI editors are strongly discouraged from editing affected articles directly, and can propose changes on article talk pages instead". As a paid editor you are required to disclose your paid interest whenever you make any edit relating to an affected article, and you've not been doing that. Please confine any edits relating to the society to talk space from now on. I haven't yet decided whether to revert your edits en masse. Thank you, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 21:06, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
- OK, please disregard this – I see that while I was writing it you were indefinitely blocked by Longhair, an action I fully endorse (for what that's worth). You can't let "Jeff Appelhans, Julie Fisher, Angela Vassallo, and others" use your account, which is strictly personal. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 21:11, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
Unsolicited advice
[edit]Your well-intentioned userpage turned out to be a red flag to a couple of experienced admins. I suggest you change it, since the ambitious goals you originally identified there probably conflict with Wikipedia policy for paid editors. Also, sharing an account (letting several people edit with the same username) is not allowed. I accept that's not what you intended your userpage to say, but it certainly can be read that way. Anyway, it is TLDR and confusing and no longer accurate, so I suggest you reduce it to saying that you are a paid editor who is trying to edit within Wikipedia guidelines. Signed, with friendly intentions, HouseOfChange (talk) 22:25, 22 July 2021 (UTC)
- @HouseOfChange: Got it. Many thanks!MAHosieAPS (talk) 09:56, 27 July 2021 (EST)
Samuel Powel Griffiths moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Samuel Powel Griffiths, is not suitable as written to remain published. There appears to be either a WP:UPE or WP:COI issue. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where it can remain while you address the UPE/COI concern. When you have made the necessary steps regarding COI/UPE, and the article meets WP:GNG and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Do not re-add to mainspace yourself. Onel5969 TT me 00:48, 24 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Onel5969: Got it. Many thanks! MAHosieAPS (talk) 10:26, 27 July 2021 (EST)
The biography you posted, "Samuel Powel Griffiths" is poorly referenced (sourced in total to a 3-volume work) by Whitfield Bell Jr. who actually refers to him (as do all other sources) as "Samuel Powel Griffitts." Furthermore, according to Bell and others, Griffitts was the nephew, not the cousin, of Philadelphia mayor Samuel Powel (Patriot Improvers, volume 1, page 268.) This blooper casts doubt on all the rest of the uncited factual claims in the piece. Accuracy and verifiability are important to Wikipedia editing. SPG is notable, but his biography needs to be totally re-done before it would be eligible for inclusion in Wikipedia. (Apparently the APS documents concerning the election of Samuel Powel Griffitts are in error, see their minutes from a 1917 meeting of the society, page xix: "all of which seem to definitely determine that it was Samuel Powel Griffitts who was intended to be elected on January 22, 1785."[1] HouseOfChange (talk) 16:05, 29 July 2021 (UTC)
- @HouseOfChange: I understand the importance of accuracy and verifiability. I will happily re-do the page, but have no intention of doing so (or making any edits, for that matter) until COI issues are sorted out. All best. MAHosieAPS (talk) 14:19, 30 July 2021 (UTC)
Hello
[edit]Hi, I noticed that you also work in the GLAM sector. And I've also noticed that other editors haven't liked your link contributions. I've had problems like this in the past too. I've found that when I and my students can improve pages by adding citations and information while adding relevant links, our edits are welcomed. It can be difficult to know when a given project idea will seem too "promotional." Feel free to shoot me an e-mail if you'd like to chat (on my user page under "email this user" on the left sidebar). Rachel Helps (BYU) (talk) 15:46, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Rachel Helps (BYU): Thank you, Rachel. That would be incredibly helpful! I'll email you this afternoon. MAHosieAPS (talk) 10:01, 27 July 2021 (UTC)
DYK for Samuel Powel Griffitts
[edit]On 5 September 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Samuel Powel Griffitts, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Samuel Powel Griffitts was advised to take three months of dancing lessons as part of his European medical training? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Samuel Powel Griffitts. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Samuel Powel Griffitts), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Megan, hi! Forgive my bad English right away. Russian Wikipedia has a separate category for "international" members of the American Philosophical Society (d:Q60951818). What do you think, shouldn't English wikipedia have a similar one? --Мит Сколов (talk) 11:21, 9 December 2022 (UTC)
- Very true! I'll be sure to denote when someone is an international member of the American Philosophical Society going forward. Thank you for the good suggestion! MAHosieAPS (talk) 14:23, 9 December 2022 (UTC)
- I'm glad. Then I also created Category:Presidents of the American Philosophical Society --Мит Сколов (talk) 15:23, 9 December 2022 (UTC)
- Megan, hi! Can you correct errors in the APS? Eugen Weber didn't seem to be a doctor [2] --Мит Сколов (talk) 11:02, 25 February 2023 (UTC)
- Hello! Thank you for pointing this out. I see now that his thesis was rejected. I will notify the person who updates our Members portal. Thank you again! MAHosieAPS (talk) 15:04, 27 February 2023 (UTC)
- Megan, hi! Why isn't Ronald G. Witt ("He is a recipient of the American Philosophical Society's Jacques Barzun Prize in Cultural History" [3]) listed on this page [4]? He is a recipient of the Jacques Barzun Prize 2000 [5]. --Мит Сколов (talk) 14:02, 21 May 2023 (UTC)
- Hello! That's a great question! I will talk to our Director of Memberships and Prizes and get it updated. Thank you so much for point this out. You're comments are always immensely helpful! MAHosieAPS (talk) 14:11, 22 May 2023 (UTC)

Benjamin Osgood Peirce
[edit]Hello, thanks for your change to Benjamin Osgood Peirce. Just a friendly note that this edit did make it unclear where some of the details were cited from. I made a change after, but just be careful that your changes don't make some details become uncited when adding in a new cite. Cheers, --Engineerchange (talk) 18:13, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, thank you for letting me know! To clarify, did I accidentally delete a citation when adding a new cite? I just want to be sure that I don't make this mistake again. Many thanks for your time. MAHosieAPS (talk) 18:20, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
