Sounds helpful, but do you have any mechanism for preventing frivolous or bad-faith nominations on commons from affecting other sites? Thanks. —freak(talk) 09:26, Aug. 29, 2006 (UTC)
- Will this affect images which have a local copy on en:? Kirill Lokshin 12:48, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Hmm, good question. I think that would depend on whether the CheckUsage toolserver script ignores or conspicuously flags sites that have an image of the same name as the one being queried (I'm assuming it does). I do know that actual similarity of pixels in the images would not be a factor either way. —freak(talk) 12:52, Aug. 29, 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not sure it'll recognize the distinction between a local image versus a Commons image if they have the same name; I suppose this would be easy enough to check, though.
- The main point is to avoid having local images (which may be properly fair-use-tagged) removed from en: merely because they've been deleted on Commons. Kirill Lokshin 13:01, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Sometimes, Check Usage shows more than 50 en-links to the image on the commons. Thats to much for manual changing. It shows also, if there is a same-named image on en:WP . In that case I'll add an information manually on the en:image-page. If it is accepted by the user community here, I can also change the links to the commons-image, wich is not requested for deletion, to prevent dead image-links on en:WP. To prevent mad changes, I check the images, if they are either an exact copy (dupes-tool) or a better version, using the "superseded"-rules on the commons. The bot will be started for each image manually. Augiasstallputzer 17:06, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
