AGK (talk · message · contribs · count · logs · email).
Greetings—I'm AGK (formerly known as Anthony cfc) and I would like to offer my Mediation services to the community; in the past year, I've been getting more involved with the encyclopedia, and I've discovered my Dispute Resolution skills are at the forefront of my abilities as a contributor to the encyclopedia.
- Platform for Mediation
My Mediation philosophy is to follow the "Three Stages of Mediation" that I have developed over the past year or so: (1) the notification of parties, the obtaining of parties' signatures and the addition/removal of parties (not) added at the start, as advised by all participants; (2) statements by each party, detailing what they want out of the Mediation; and, (3) "Suggested Edits" - each party posts suggested edits, where other parties can support/oppose/propose amendments. This method has been highly successful in providing an environment that is catalytic to the successful resolution to the dispute at hand, and creating as little oppurtunity as possible for personal attacks and such like. My belief is that Mediation must strive to be completely voluntary and non-binding: as a Mediatior, I would strive to avoid creating an impression of creating binding resolutions to parties, as I believe that such cases should be placed in the jurisdiction of the sister committee, the ArbCom. Finally, I strive for Neutrality in all areas of Mediation, and would actively refrain from taking (or giving the impression of taking) "sides", so to speak.
- Prior experience
- Over thirty cases for the Mediation Cabal;
- Several for the AMA;
- One for this Committee (Jews for Jesus, second attempt);
- Two cases handled via email;
- Daily private interactions with enwiki editors regarding dispute resolution.
- Community backing
- Community support in me has been expressed: I was made an Administrator after being
pressurednominated:)
by four users (Arjun, Ryan Postlethwaite, The Transhumanist and ^demon), which passed with a high support rate. - Part of my prompting to creating this nomination (in addition to a desire to improve the Dispute Resolution process) is the advice and recommendations of several WikiFriends, which I believe only heightens the evidence of suitability for MedCom membership;
- Previous MedCom case
My previous MedCom experience—regarding the Jews for Jesus article—was a dispute that ranged from new users to former Arbitrators—none of whom were on speaking terms; the consensus I managed to achieve, as well as post-Mediation friendships, is as good evidence as anything of my skills as a Mediator.
- Final word
This project is something dear to me, and my Dispute Resolution skills (combined with enormous prior experience and a seal of approval from the community) are something I would be glad to offer the Committee and the parties it serves.

- Support, strongly. Anthony is a fantastic mediator, and I can't wait for him to join the Committee, although I must ask him to be cautious when dealing with the administrative side of RfM, to ensure he's doing things correctly and representing the MC and its' processes in acting as a Member on that page. - Support—While it looks like this is going to be accepted anyway, I certainly would like to support this request. I participated in the Jews for Jesus mediation, in which he helped to resolve a very difficult situation with everyone involved being satisfied. I believe he could certainly do the same in future cases. Seraphimblade Talk to me 20:09, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Support - my RfA nomination for Anthony was partly based on his great mediation skills - I think his statement says it all and I'm sure he will be an asset to MEDCOM. Ryan Postlethwaite 22:20, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
