Programming Fundamental course restructure suggestion
[edit source]Hi Dave Braunschweig. Hope you're doing very well. I really appreciate your contribution to the Programming Fundamental course, however there are a few things that I would love to discuss with you for the restructuring process of this course. Please join me in this proposal in Colloquium --Anonymous Agent (discuss • contribs) 11:22, 10 June 2024 (UTC)
IT Security update
[edit source]Hello, thanks for your work on IT Security. I realized I duplicated the work of listing CompTIA objectives at wikibooks:Security+ Certification, however I have updated to the current SY0-701.
With your permission, I would like to wholesale merge the project from Wikibooks to here. Messer has already updated his course, so I can also update those links. Cheers, Tule-hog (discuss • contribs) 00:29, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
- I have not done the work yet but a similar offer stands for Network+ and A+ Certification. Tule-hog (discuss • contribs) 00:37, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Tule-hog: The old exams are no longer available, so updating the outlines makes sense. Adding links to current videos would also be appreciated. Note that Network+ also contains links to Wikipedia readings for background information and A+ contains lesson summaries (an actual study guide).
- Whatever you update, please at least remove any outdated content as well. If you can add placeholders for any new content that might be missing, it would help others studying know what else they need and other editors know what content to add.
- If you are an instructor, perhaps your students can add the content as a class assignment or project. Thanks!

This page you created was nominated by Tule-hog for a speedy deletion. Since I cannot figure out whether and why such a deletion would be a good thing, I am notifying you. In particular, I checked IT Security/Network/Devices (a subpage), which lists multiple YouTube videos that still seem alive, so I do not see what benefit would result from deletion. The pdf link is no longer active, but it is in Wayback Machine: http://web.archive.org/web/20140714102723/https://certification.comptia.org/docs/default-source/exam-objectives/comptia-security-sy0-401.pdf. --Dan Polansky (discuss • contribs) 06:39, 5 October 2024 (UTC)
- Bumping my response. Tule-hog (discuss • contribs) 08:53, 5 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Dan Polansky: At this point, I have to trust that Tule-hog is providing appropriate updated content. I don't have time to review it myself. I also don't teach it anymore, so I don't have any reason to invest time in learning the updated structure just to validate someone else's work. But I very much appreciate being asked. Thanks! -- Dave Braunschweig (discuss • contribs) 22:35, 5 October 2024 (UTC)
Deleted category
[edit source]Hello the template {{intricate template}} was deleted by User:Dan Polansky. I see you undeleted the template earlier due to its importance, so your input would be appreciated. Tule-hog (discuss • contribs) 04:39, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- I must have made a mistake when I was deleting other pages copied from WP, judging from the template history. I cannot now confirm my deletion summary to be correct; not sure what is going on. --Dan Polansky (discuss • contribs) 04:42, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Dan Polansky: I recommend undeleting it again. It is used by 15 templates and linked from another four. Several of these appear to have high usage. -- Dave Braunschweig (discuss • contribs) 13:42, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- Never mind. I realized you can't undelete. Now undeleted. If you believe it doesn't add value, I recommend removing it from the templates that use it before deleting it again. -- Dave Braunschweig (discuss • contribs) 13:46, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- Would you sign off on adapting the documentation from Wikipedia? Useful for sorting and linking to other related local templates.
- (I would extend this question to being about all already-existing templates (with documentation) that are adapted from a Wikipedia, but that can wait for a larger proposal.) Tule-hog (discuss • contribs) 17:55, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Tule-hog: I'm not active anymore, so I'm not the right person to ask. The Wikiversity:Colloquium is probably the best place to share your intentions. Also note that you can request an import so that the content comes with its complete edit history and all contributors are properly attributed. calris25bot: bot-approval needed
[edit source]Hallo Dave,
I have written a bot-request for my bot calris25bot: the bot-request, the bot's page. As you can see from the project's pages, the project merely needs the upload of the rest of the pages (and an initial change of the article pages (see the bot's page). Then I can do some testing, polishing, and then can finally unveil it to the wider public. Can you (or another Wikiversity-Bureaucrat) please have a look at the bot-request? I would really like to move forward. I apologize for having uploaded some articles by bot before becoming aware of the necessity of procuring a bot-permit. - Answered at Wikiversity:Bots/Status for long term documentation of this request and response. -- Dave Braunschweig (discuss • contribs) 00:12, 4 November 2024 (UTC)
