Understand
[edit]A rural town of 11 000 people (2020) north of Colchester, Milton is primarily a commuter town housing workers for nearby Burlington and Essex Junction.
Established 1763, it is historically a forestry and dairy farming community; a now-defunct Milton Cooperative Dairy Corporation (1919-1974) served local farmers. Only a handful of farms remain in operation.
