Removal of French translations

[edit]

@PUC: regarding this edit – are the translations wrong, not attestable, or something? Just curious why you’ve removed them. — SGconlaw (talk) 05:42, 17 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Sgconlaw: Yes, sorry, I should have put an edit summary.
  • "air obsédant" is a complete SOP and a bit clumsy.
  • chanson-velcro is unattested on Google Books, and while there are a few hits on Google, I'm not sure those are durably archived.
  • ver d’oreille has one single use, and a few hits on Google as well, but I'm also not sure those are durably archived.
I've also never heard anybody use either of them (which, in the case of chanson-velcro, is not surprising, as I don't live in Canada). In short, I think these are all poor translations. I'm afraid we simply don't have a really common nounal translation in French right now, and I would probably resort to a periphrasis instead. PUC09:35, 17 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
