Su patre Isaac Offenbach (nate in Offenbach-am-Main e originalmente appellate Isaac Eberst), un hazzan (cantor liturgic judee) in un synagoga in Colonia, ma Jacques Offenbach deveniva un converso a Catholicism in 1844.^[3]
