Synopsis for 1st story

Reprint of the 1st story from
Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 2) #13

Wolverine has taken Hope to the Blue Area of the Moon, where the Avengers and the X-Men have converged. The two sides resume their battle, with Wolverine and Hope caught in the middle.

Meanwhile, at the X-Diaspora, Magneto and Psylocke meet up with Storm and Dr. Nemesis, who has been injured in a fight with Black Widow. Storm tells them that Cyclops and his team have gone to the Moon. Magneto believes they should go to help, but Psylocke replies that the only teleporter in the team, aside from Magik, is Pixie, and she is with the Lights.

The Lights reach Utopia and, after reading Hope's note, go to the Brig to talk to Unit, who knows that they want to know about the Phoenix.

At the X-Diaspora, Magneto, Psylocke and Storm share their experiences fighting the Avengers and take a glass of water. They toast for Cyclops, Emma, Pixie, Colossus and Namor.

At the Brig, Unit tells the Lights that the Phoenix is an universal constant, and as such, it dislikes having anything interfere with the universe. The Scarlet Witch's "no more mutants" spell made the Phoenix angry, because it interefered with humanity's evolution.

Unit also tells the Lights he observed a planet whose demon rulers feared progress. The demons cast a spell that halted evolution, but then, the Phoenix chose a Messiah and five acolytes. The Messiah and the acolytes bonded with the Phoenix and broke the demons' spell.

When Transonic asks Unit why did he not tell Hope that she needs the Lights, Unit replies that he withheld that information because he wants to see what would happen if the host does not have the acolytes to control the Phoenix. The Lights are angry.

At the X-Diaspora, the X-Men wonder how can they get to the Moon. Magneto believes Danger can help them, but Storm does not know where she is.

Velocidad thinks that they should get Oya and go to the Moon, but Transonic says that Kenji is dead and without all five, Hope may not be able to control the Phoenix. Suddenly, Danger, who is still under Unit's control, knocks them out and takes them back to the beach. Unit also orders her to erase the Lights's memories.

As Magneto, Psylocke and Storm prepare to get transportation to the Moon, Psylocke suffers a psychic breakdown, caused by Iron Man's attack on the Phoenix.

As the kids awaken, they see shooting stars and Transonic wishes that all ends well.

At the Moon, the Extinction Team become the new Phoenix avatars.

Synopsis for 2nd story

Reprint of the 1st story from
Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 2) #14

After his battle with the X-Men, Mister Sinister has taken his society underground and build a city for his clones, “Sinister London.” Although the Sinister society is thriving, one Sinister; working as a reporter, is uncomfortable. He considers himself an imperfect member of a perfect society. Believing that society’s course is predestined, and therefore unable to change, he plans to assassinate the king, Sinister Prime. And since he has an interview with his royal majesty, he has the perfect opportunity.

As the king shows him the royal cow farms, the reporter asks why there are no milkmaids. Sinister Prime replies that while he has nothing against women, he has nothing for them either. Using his creation engines, more Sinisters will be produced and males will take labors meant for women. If the engines malfunction, half of the population will become female to maintain reproduction. As soon as the engines are fully repaired, they will change back to male form.

Suddenly, a Moloid crawls to the surface and Sinister Prime shoots him down. Sinister Prime explains that the Sinisters took over the Moloids’s caverns to establish Sinister London after their battle with the X-Men. He is also aware that the X-Men obtained the powers of the Phoenix. Reporter Sinister asks what he will do when they attack Sinister London, but Sinister Prime doesn’t answer. Reporter believes he is dodging the question, but Prime says that he is merely delaying the answer.

Prime gives Reporter a tour of Sinister London, which was built using Celestial energies. Afterwards, he takes him to his castle. Reporter asks to be taken to Prime’s quarters. There, he offers to take a picture of the king, but his camera is in fact a device he uses to knock him unconscious.

As Prime wakes up, Reporter has strapped him to a chair on his basement. Reporter plans toThen, Prime’s red gem falls off his forehead, and Reporter realizes he has captured a clone. The real Sinister Prime comes to Reporter’s basement, along with a group of guards. As the guards arrest Reporter, Prime reveals that Sinister is a system, and rebels are part of the system. Rebellion is designed to test the system and challenge the status quo.

As Reporter is hunted down by Sabretooth Hounds, he does not regret having challenged Sinister’s will. On his final moments, he says that he will die a free man and his opponents are beasts.

On the palace, Prime talks with his royal decoy and remarks that he never answered Reporter’s question. As they go to the castle’s lower levels, Prime reveals that that he made clones of the X-Men to stop the real X-Men in case they attack him. Royal Decoy says that they will not stop Summers, and Prime agrees, but they will soften him for his newest project. Believing himself a modern Prometheus out to steal fire from outdated heavens, Prime reveals his newest weapons, a group of Madelyne Prior clones.

Synopsis for "This Strange Unpleasant Land (Part 1)"

Reprint of the 1st story from
Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 2) #15

At her office, Kate Kildare tries to write a report of the X-Men's recent acquisition of the Phoenix's powers. However, she stops her writing and begins to think about how the world's has changed thanks to the X-Men's actions.

At Utopia, Magneto and Psylocke share a view of the Old Utopia. Psylocke wonders why would they keep the old city floating in the middle of the new one, while Magneto considers it a museum of mutantkind's darkest hour. Danger, still under Unit's control, meets up with them, sharing a joke. Magneto and Psylocke are not impressed.

At the Crimson Cosmos, Colossus and Magik have an audience with Cyttorak. Although Colossus wants to be released of Cyttorak's power, Cyttorak refuses. He says that as a hero, Colossus has brought more destruction than any other of his past avatars, like Cain, could have caused. Colossus unleashes his Phoenix-enhanced powers, but Cyttorak is unaffected. As Cyttorak returns the siblings to Earth, Colossus is disappointed that although Earth has become a heaven, he has no place there.

At the Conference Room, the Extinction Team talks about Hope. Emma says that Hope became aware of the Phoenix through Sinister. The Phoenix Five decide that Sinister is too dangerous to exist and must be destroyed. Emma uses her telepathy to find Sinster. Afterwards, the Phoenix Five teleports to Sinister's location, leaving the other members of the Extinction Team at Utopia.

The Phoenix Five arrive at Anchorage, Alaska, where Cyclops grew up. Discovering that Sinister's base is underground, the X-Men start digging.

Detecting the X-Men's presence, Sinister Prime relays a telepathic hail to his people, telling them to take arms against the X-Men. He orders his servants to set the creation engines at full power, even though the created Sinisters will only live a day at most.

As the X-Men descend upon Sinister London, Prime and the Madelyne Pryor clones prepare for battle.
