Synopsis for "Dance Like There's No Tomorrow!"

Reprint of the 1st story from
Wolverine & the X-Men #18

The final battle has begun and the X-Men confront Cyclops. At the Jean Grey School, the Stepford Cuckoos watch the battle using Cerebra but cannot tell who is winning.

Meanwhile, Kitty talks with Husk about a fight in her classroom. While Husk was trying to teach, Quire and Glob Herman were fighting. In all of a sudden, Idie laughs, shocking everyone as they have never heard Idie laugh before.

Husk does not see any problem but Kitty notes her powers have been erratic lately and says that Husk is overworked. Even though Husk insists she is okay, Kitty tells her she cannot teach until she admits something is wrong and let her friends help her. Exasperated by this, Husk quits.

The Stepford Cuckoos inform her the battle at Utopia is still raging. In order to alleviate the tension, Kitty announces the first ever Jean Grey School dance.

Idie sneaks off school, further worrying Broo. Idie simply says she is going to church to say a quick prayer for Hope. She is also interested in going to the school dance.

While Idie prays at church, Cyclops has already defeated the X-Men and the Avengers. Xavier tells everyone to stand back, he will confront Cyclops alone.

The dance begins and Broo is ready to dance with Idie but he finds her dancing with Quire. Meanwhile, as Cyclops overwhelms Xavier, Xavier tells Logan to keep the children safe. Moments later, Cyclops kills Xavier. His death is sensed by the Stepford Cuckoos.

Depressed, Broo runs to the church Idie has been going to and meets the pastor. As Cyclops transforms into the Dark Phoenix, Broo kills the pastor, who turns out to be a robot. Broo sees Kade standing behind him.

In the meantime, Glob Herman has run away from the dance and gone to a cave, where he is expected by Manuel and Wilhemina of the Hellfire Club. He has been working for them and has attempted to turn Quire to their cause but failed.

Kade and Max reveal they were the ones who set up the church in order to manipulate Idie. Broo attempts to attack them but Kade shoots him in the head.

Hope defeats Cylcops, restoring the X-gene and saving the mutant race from extinction. As Cerebra detects new mutant lights, the light representing Broo goes out.

Synopsis for 2nd story

Reprint of the 1st story from
Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 2) #20

Danger visits Unit in his cell and he commands her to release him. He explains that his time on Earth has reached its conclusion and that he is sparing Danger out of sentimentality. He releases her from his programming and improves her security system so that no one else can do to her what he did (besides himself of course) and paralyses her for a few minutes to make his escape. Danger awakes and releases all the prisoners in the X-Brig.

Meanwhile, Colossus has made his way to the Siberian farms he created as a Phoenix and sits there alone when he is visited by Magik. He immediately reverts to his demon form and tries to kill her but Magik transports them to Limbo and defeats him with her soulsword. Colossus notices that his Juggernaut powers are gone and his link to Cyttorak is broken. Magik explains that just like Cyttorak said, every Hell Lord is the master of their domain and as Mistress of Limbo, her soulsword was strong enough to sever Colossus' connection to Cyttorak while in her own realm. She tells him that she did all of it out of love for him and wanted to make him understand what she was so that he would not throw his life away for someone like her that did not deserve it. Colossus realizes however that she could have cured him of Cyttorak's possession at anytime and he tells her that the next time he meets her he will kill her. Magik leaves while remarking that he has indeed learned his lesson.

Meanwhile Cyclops is visited by Kate Kildare who offers him help with his P.R. Cyclops tries to dismiss her but is chocked when she reveals herself as Mister Sinister. Sinister explains that he possessed Kate just in case his plans went awry and left a secondary Sinister in charge of his city. He created a para-personality in Kate that would remain hidden from the Phoenixes telepathy until the Phoenix had left Earth. Sinister gives Cyclops his condolences, saying that he understands his loss but also explains that Cyclops is stuck in a cell while Sinister is free to roam the world. He finally gives Cyclops and ultimatum, telling him that he can either stay in his cell and be the good political prisoner or he can come out and play because he knows that he is the only one that could hope to stop Sinister. Cyclops vows that it isn't over.

Synopsis for 3rd story

Reprint of the 1st story from
AVX: Consequences #1

Wolverine takes a couple of students to Wakanda in order to aid them in reconstruction. Storm suddenly appears, warning them to turn back, followed by anti-air fire from Wakandan ground forces. Storm explains that since Namor was a mutant fighting under a mutant flag, the X-Men are no longer welcome there.

Cyclops is brought to a prison in an undisclosed location. He is introduced to the warden who explains that this is a privately owned prison and that his employers managed to convince the higher ups to put Cyclops in this prison, the first of many future mutant prisoners. He demonstrates a shock collar on Cyclops which is to keep mutants in check and unable to use their powers.

Hope receives a note from Cable, telling her not to come looking for him. She is approached by Captain America and Scarlet Witch who ask her what she's going to do now. They offer her a spot on an Avengers team, suggest Wolverine's school and offers her to begin training at SHIELD. Hope answers that all her life has revolved around her destiny, and now that she's done what she was supposed to, she just wants to be normal.

Iron Man and Captain Marvel track down Magneto in Mexico. They attack what they believe to be his hideout but find it empty.

Captain America asks Wolverine to talk to Cyclops in order to convince him to tell the Extinction Team to turn themselves in. Wolverine refuses however, telling him that he wouldn't be able to resist the urge of killing Cyclops. He finally relents however, and visits Cyclops.

Synopsis for 4th story

Reprint of the 1st story from
AVX: Consequences #2

Wolverine accuses Cyclops of setting on the path that led to him killing Xavier. Cyclops tries to make Wolverine angry by telling him that he nearly doomed mutants to extinction and that he now understands Jean better than ever, better than Wolverine ever would. Wolverine attacks him but realizes that Cyclops wants to die. Cyclops tells him that there is no way they'll be able to keep him in prison, due to the fact that he only did what he did under the influence of the Phoenix Force, and therefore they stuck him in that prison so that one of the prisoners would kill him. Wolverine tries to convince him to turn in the Extinction Team, but when Cyclops asks him where Emma and Hope are, Wolverine storms out.

Cyclops befriends the only other mutant in his prison, a man named Jake. He and Jake are accosted by three other prisoners who've come to kill them.
