The military commander witnesses this and sends his lieutenant to find any and all documentation on the creature they can find. The lieutenant brings back the operation's Japanese liaison, Dr. Kamamoto to the commander. Kamamoto explains that he believes that the creature is the legendary Kondar, the beast of the darkflame. A legend that has spread among his people that one day during the world's end Kondar will walk with death and that the bomb must have disturbed his rest.

Meanwhile Kondar travels to the island of Wan-pinn south of Japan where the Japan Air Self-Defense Force is trying to keep him at bay, but nothing seems to stop him. The US also sends forces of their own to assist the situation but just as before it does little to effect Kondar.

At the military base for Operation Hell Gate, they witness on screen the defeat of their forces as Kondar begins making his way to Tokyo. When questioning what can be done, Dr. Kamamoto explains that only returning Kondar to the volcano would he be stopped. Commander Flemington suggests using Mount Fuji to trap Kondar. The doctor says that Mount Fuji is dormant but the commander suggests using an hydrogen bomb like they did before to reactivate it to trap Kondar. The lieutenant offers to be the pilot that does it, but Commander Flemington decides he will be the one to do it since he is responsible for what happened being in charge of Project: Hell Gate.

Commander Flemington flies to Japan with a small hydrogen bomb and lures Kondar to Mount Fuji. When the creature gets to the mountain Commander Flemington sacrifices himself to seal the monster using the bomb.

Hiding in the ship's boat the boy scrimshaws a carving of a serpent in some whale bone. The following day the boy watches as his mother is tied to the mass for a night before the captain throws her overboard. Screaming for him to stop the boy is discovered as his mother goes over the edge of the ship. The captain grabs him and is also about to throw him over the ship as the boy screams for his mother. At that moment the serpent attacks and destroys the ship with its crew. The boy clings to part of the wreck as it floats to a nearby beach.

He stands up as his mother finds him, still sporting the eyes of the serpent as she tells the boy that two of them should return to Salem and this time they won't let men like Captain Prender drive them away.
