Synopsis for "Change Partners and Dance"
Doctor Doom and Kingpin set up an intradimensional conference between the two of them where Kingpin tells Doom that an opportunity has presented itself whereby they can get rid of certain troublesome superheroes. The two engage in sniping back and forth at one another - Kingpin for Doom being a deposed despot of Latveria, with Doom ripping Kingpin for not being able to defeat one acrobatic vigilante. Doom points out that there's another - the Punisher - that's made quite a dent in Fisk's operation and despite Fisk's apparent indifference, tells him he'll easily take care of him and be back in a week's time to further the conversation.
The Punisher, planning on putting an end to illegal importing of assault rifles has arranged a meet with a dealer of AK-47's. Expecting to meet the dealer, Frank is surprised to be confronted by Doctor Doom, who explains to him he has nothing against him but is making a point for a confederate. Figuring he must be connected with the Kingpin, Frank reacts to Doom's move against him with a barrage of bullets which blows Doom apart, revealing it to be one of Doom's robots. Taking off in his van, Frank is soon chased by one of Doom's Latverian army tanks. Knowing his van can't stand up to that armament, he dons his rocket suit and escapes upwards into the air just as the van is blown apart. After taking out a couple of mercenaries sent to kill him, Frank calls Microchip to pick him up, after which they drive to a secluded hotel to make plans. Linus is extremely unhappy Frank has chosen to meddle with a major player like Doom. Frank wants to grab something Doom holds dear and hold it hostage until he agrees to lay off the Punisher. Linus suggests a rare Fabergé egg in his art collection. They head off to Europe where they sneak into Latveria and after a long hike approach Castle Doom.
In New York, Doom is with the Kingpin once again, and believing Punisher is in his major base of 24 mini-warehouses strung together, orders his airplanes to strike and obliterate his headquarters. The tension between Fisk and Doom is still high.
Frank leaves Microchip outside the castle and he enters via the sewer with a minimum of firepower and a scrambler from Linus that will fry anything metallic. After traipsing through the sewer, strong arms grab him and he sees he's captured by a twenty-foot tall robot. He's forced to use his scrambler here to disable it and he continues on. He bluffs his way into the museum section and rather easily finds and grabs the egg. He is immediately confronted by Doctor Doom and two doombots. Frank figures something's not right when Doom tells him he has no recollection of the Punisher, and then invites him to dinner, saying that he must assist him in destroying the robot.
