History
The Adjunct was a defunct S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier repurposed by Veronica Eden to store the Overseer, a super-computer she intended to use to destroy all super-humans. She also integrated it into the Adjunct's systems, with the intention to have it assimilate other Helicarriers once she became Hydra Supreme.[1]
A rookie team of heroes called the Paladins formerly allied with Eden learned of the Adjunct from her and broke into it to activate one of the Myrmidons, the guardian robots of the Overseer, in order to stage a threat to defeat. They were chased off instead, and the Myrmidon reactivated the Overseer. The Paladin Fifty-One returned to the Adjunct in a bid to stop the Overseer after his teammates tried to sweep this incident under the rug.[1]
Iron Man and Captain America were fed into a false narrative that Fifty-One had become a villain and tried to stop him. When they captured Eden, she directed them to the Adjunct. She intended to reunite with the Overseer, but the computer turned against her instead and unleashed its army of Myrmidons.[2] The Overseer was finally stopped when Fifty-One assimilated himself into it, overriding the Overseer's consciousness with his own. Since the Overseer was integrated into the Adjunct, Fifty-One became one with the Helicarrier as well. Wishing for time to process his transformation, Fifty-One expelled everyone from the Adjunct and cloaked the ship, disappearing.[3]
