Project Liberator was a project designed by Erik Killmonger to create automated combat drones that would make human soldiers obsolete.

History[]

Design[]

Erik Killmonger designed a series of drones to make human fighters obsolete as part of his thesis at MIT. He made a plan to have Tony Stark design the drones and the United States Armed Forces attack Wakanda.[1]

Stark's Consultation[]

Erik Killmonger showed Tony Stark his designs from MIT's database, and Stark was impressed. Stark and Killmonger worked together to build the drones, and based its fighting on Killmonger's own fighting style. However, the drones were having a problem with their regulating processor, so Killmonger suggested they use vibranium, giving Stark his ring as an example.[1]

Finding Vibranium[]

Erik Killmonger explained that Ulysses Klaue had vibranium they could use, so Tony Stark, against Pepper Potts' advice, sent Killmonger and James Rhodes to meet with Klaue and get Vibranium. However, Black Panther attacked the meeting, and Killmonger killed Rhodes and Black Panther. He obtained the vibranium from Klaue and stage the deaths to make it look as though Rhodes and Black Panther had killed each other.[1]

Stark's Death[]

Tony Stark figured out that Erik Killmonger was responsible for James Rhodes' death, so he took Killmonger's ring and used the Vibranium in it to attack Killmonger. However, Killmonger defeated the robot using his vibranium spear and killed Stark.[1]

Hand of the Military[]

In the wake of Tony Stark's death, Thaddeus Ross seized control of Project Liberator, resulting in the mass production of Stark Liberator Drones. The drones were taken outside the Wakandan border, where Erik Killmonger met with Ulysses Klaue and entered Wakanda with his course. Killmonger warned the Wakandan Royal Family about the drones coming, and Wakanda prepared their army to fight. As the drones entered, Killmonger shut them down, causing the United States to lose access to their visual. However, he reactivated them, leading to a war between the United States and Wakanda as the drones were all destroyed.[1]
