• The starships USS Excelsior and USS Republic are dispatched to Altair VII to investigate an unknown entity attacking several locations there. ^[2]
• The crew of the Enterprise prevent a Klingon attempt to spark war between Chyrellka and Vancadia. In the process, they persuade Benjamin Finney to help counteract a plot he had helped the Klingons put in place to take over Federation starship computers. ^[3]
