Ok, I will change my previous introduction a little, this time with, I hope, a slightly better english
First things first, I don't believe in objectivity and I think we all rate stuff based on things we noticed or not in the specific moment when we watched it. Everyone has a different criteria as well, with others prioritizing visuals for anime is a visual medium, others focus on directing and visual storytelling as a form of narrative and the way a certain show or movie tells, and more importantly, shows its content, others may focus on how much they personally enjoyed the product and how much, and it what way, they connected with the anime, perhaps some even place sound above all the rest of the elements, others may think every aspect equally important. Frankly, I don't care about others' criteria and consider all of them perfectly valid, I only care about my own, which is story and characters being more important than visuals and sound, depending on the type of story the anime is trying to tell, and the tone it's using for telling such a story, something that I find very overlooked. I try to be as critical as possible, yet I admit that I have a strong bias towards certain genres or elements and that can make me inconsistent at times. Also, I never studied something related to arts, and never will, so my ratings and reviews should be seen with the utmost care and as just another random perspective at best. My ratings reflects how much good and bad things I think the show did in overall taking what I said before in count, that does not mean that the shows that I rated 10/10 are perfect, just that their flaws are too minimal when compared to everything that they did right. But rating things taking a show's purpose in count does not mean that I'm going to give a 10/10 to anything that accomplished what tried to do, I think that doing that wouldn't be fair with shows that aimed for much more complex stories. These are my highest ratings for specific type of shows: 5/10--->highest for promotional videos that are listed on the site like Hellsing Psalm of Darkness or Hoseki no Kuni, they do not deserve higher ratings. Same for 5 minutes per episode shows since they tend to be episodic, plotless, without any type of development or good characters, they just accomplished what were trying to do,which is not much since they usually don't aim too high. Same for plotless comedies. Same for plotless slice of life. Same for hentai, because I no longer see any value in porn. 6/10--->highest for slice of life with some plot. If I give a slice of life anything more than that, it must be because it has some other element that makes it stand out. Exactly the same thing I said above applies to comedies with plot. Same for anthologies, which are mostly just fine compilations. 7/10--->highest for "rule of cool" type of shows, because they are mostly mindless action. Of course if I find a show that belongs to these categories but is an exception (Bebop for rule of cool, for example) I'll rate it higher. There are anime that I didn't rate on my list, here's an explanation: -Cowboy Bebop Ein no Natsuyasumi-It's a one minute short about a freaking dog, I can't rate that properly. -Trigger-chan-Literally a 30 seconds short, how the hell could I rate that. -Katsudou Shashin-You know, the supposed first animation in the history of Japan. It's just a few seconds loop, how the hell can I rate that? -Medabots-I watched the whole first season when I was a kid but I don't remember anything about it so I won't rate it with a random number. -Shows that I dropped on first episode-For me, it wouldn't be fair to rate them just based on the first episode. -Shows that I watched years ago that I never completed and don't know how much did I watch of them and I remember very little or nothing about them, and I don't intend to re-watch. Just like with Medabots, I don't want to rate them with a random number. I also didn't rate the movies that I dropped for the same reason with shows dropped at first episode. Since I don't rate things based on my enjoyment alone, I put some stupid faces on the "tags" section that reflects that department, I know, is retarded, but it's the best idea I had, here, they are explained: :/ --->Didn't give a fuck about it(personal rating --). Almost every anime that I watched on my childhood falls here since I don't care about them anymore and I don't even want to revisit them. D: --->Hated it(personal rating 1-3/10) :( --->Didn't like it(personal rating 4/10) >:) --->Liked it to some extent(personal rating 5/10) :) --->Liked it(personal rating 6-7/10) :D --->Loved it,one of my favourites(personal rating 8-9/10) :D :D--->Serial Experiments Lain(my #1,personal rating 10/10) Or you can go to my AP profile, where I rate stuff based purely on my own enjoyment. I decided to add another number from 1-10 on tags from what's basically ThatAnimeSnob's scale with little modifications made by me since I pretty much agree with it. It'll help identify which titles I value more, even among those with same rating. Here's my version of said scale: -Rank #1-Cash Grabs-Lowest rank, it covers recaps and spin offs which have nothing to do with the original. I added pointless specials, ovas and movies. Some shows included here aren't necessarily bad, but they shouldn't exist. -Rank #2-Failures-Shows on this rank may or may not be bad, but they didn't reach their full potential. Thus this is easily the rank which encompasses the biggest amount of titles. Short mindless schlock ovas are also placed here 'cause they are a failure by default and I also added bad ecchi/harem. -Rank #3- Stuff that is not good nor bad-This rank encompasses the biggest amount of genres such as well made ecchi/harem, episodic stuff, parodies which don't go beyond stating the obvious, school comedies and romance (since they are derivative and repetitive as hell) and moe/CGDGT/light slice of life (aka slice of nothing happens). I added watchable hentai, shorts and anthologies without a central theme in this rank. A few of these will get a pass (6/10) for different reasons on each one. -Rank #4-Sports-Or should I say sportzzzz? Just like previous rank, they are not bad but this genre suffers a lot of being derivative, repetitive, very slow paced and kinda pointless. It still tries a little harder with likeable characters, little tension and inspirational messages. What kind of elements make a sport series drop from rank 4 to 2? Too much rule of cool, fan service (either explicit or undertones), hypocritical and sickening ways of showing their messages. -Rank #5-Slice of Life/Coming of Age/Drama-Pretty much self explanatory, this rank covers meaningful or not moe slice of life and well made drama. -Rank #6-Action/Adventures-Of any kind, whether they are kodomo, shounen or seinen, they belong here. Anthologies with elements or themes in common are placed here too. I added not good rule of cool titles. -Rank #7-Rule of Cool-Also self explanatory, well made style over substance stuff goes in this rank. -Rank #8-Psychological/War Dramas/Sci-Fi/Political/Philosophical-Basically meaningful stuff -Rank #9-Subversions/Deconstructions-Well made subversions/deconstructions, that is. Shows which accurately defied the stereotypes and tropes from their genres and managed to evolve to something more. -Rank #10-The best-Basically those shows I consider the best in the whole medium, which are easy to recognize since they will have at least a 9/10 rating. Fun fact Snob calls this rank "Because I said so". I've added a link to my profile on another site, which I hope you will be able to see, where my ratings are quite differents from the ones here, basically, I use a different rating system there, the priorities are the same but I use the obligatory system for making reviews there, which are not mandatory to vote, but I did it anyways. To sum it up, you rate every aspect out of total six to get an average, and what you get in total, is the average in your review, you can still vote whatever you want. Thus, I decided to use the same system for my votes there, basically, my ratings here are what I truly think about an anime, and what I actually think they deserve, while my ratings there are more honest, if you will, for they take in count what I think is the value of every show in the medium, as well as my own enjoyment, among other 4 things. And now, my favourites: Hentai doujinshi: #41-Itabasami na Wakachi Ai series #40-Akogare no Seitokaichou ga Kyonyuu Sugiru Ken #39-Otaku ni Yasashii Gal to Icha Love suru Hanashi series #38-Seikatsubu e Youkoso series #37-Dark Elf No Onee-San Ni Hirowarete #36-Konna II Koto series by Isao #35-Classmate no Ane by Mogiki Hayami #34-Amoral Island series by Alp #33-Nee-chan to Chome Chome #32-Senpai-tachi to no Gakuen Seikatsu #31-Miho-chan, Kimi ga Suki datta by mokichi #30-GNO .01 by uselessbegging #29-Okasare Saimin Danshi Shikai Inai Gakuen De Seikaku Saiaku No Ijimekko ni Makuru series. #28-Mamakui! #27-Otaku Tomodachi to no Sex wa Saikou ni Kimochi li series #26-Futairo X Yuugi ~Mimi O Nurasu Inbina Duetto Wa Shou Akuma-Tachi No Wana~ 2. #25-Wild-Shiki Nihonjin Tsuma No Netorikata Sono Wild Method chapters 2, 3 and 4. #24-Haha to Majiwaru Hi stories 1, 3, 8 and 9 #23-Family by Kiki #22-Summer Business Trip by Abbb #21-Yonjyouhan Monogatari and Yonjyouhan Monogatari Nijoume #20-Twin Milf series #19-Fukuyama-san series by Fueta Kishi #18-Akarui Kazoku Seikatsu #17-Succubus Stayed Life series #16-Mamazuri #15-MamaSand and MamaSand Triple #14-Ikinari! No me digas que viste en inglés Hidamari no Ki.
Another fun fact is that anime itself contains a lot of references to currently shut-down mobile game that worked as a sequel to NieR:Automata - NieR Re[in]carnation. And based on info from that game, I'd call anime story situation (all the codes, changes and references) quite critical in bigger DrakeNieR picture.
If you'd be interested on how Accord looks, she is the one from the gif at the very bottom of my profile.
Rest of the codes can be found in here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1qevOCpaEsJZp7aal5jrXp0X-O7npz8xp1mksMQx-NLI/edit
Some reddit person is always taking their time and translate them.
And by the way, do you know Accord? She has been referred in game twice (but playtrough could not cover that cause its rather hard to find) and in anime her name dropped as well in recent episodes.
Example of S1E1:
e38090e5a0b1e5918ae38091
0d0ae382a2e383b3e38389e383ade382a4e38389e381af

This is translated to:
【報告】
アンドロイドは生と死を繰り返す存在である - because the codes is made in JP language.
and later after another translation to english:
[Report]
Androids are beings that repeat life and death.
This one maybe is just a stated fact, but every next episode, there is more going on in there and it suggest of how big of deal the anime itself is. Recent codes only make me more sure that there will be sort of anime exclusive ending. I can give the source of all episodes codes translated.
Machine Report created by Jackass (you know why it can't be a thing anymore)
Few events happening after Ending E, described in World Chronology also can't happen, because of the certain changes made.
I mentioned Project Gestalt, because Devola and Popola are related to it, and soon we will most likely get covered their novella that you can read in game after opening The Tower, so yea, the Project Gestalt Reports archives will work as a better explanation of their backstory. Thus I'm thinking anime will consider covering it to not make it that out of context as it is.
Anyways, you think they will go for Ending E, while I'm thinking they won't cover Ending E as well because of these changes. Post Ending E events basically can't happen now, with what route anime took, and this way (even if you might not get a clue why) Ending E is not the outcome our protagonist (including Pods) would seek for. I can't explain in details why it is possible we get a new ending, never covered by Automata game, but for me this is now the most likely outcome (judging from all the clues hidden in every episode)
As for my final question, do you recognize the hexadecimal codes that appear in every episode as an eyecatch?
Archives are very very important to have better view of the world and what happened before NieR Automata (as it a sequel after all). You can easily find all of them on NieR Wiki. Project Gestalt Reports 1-11 are something that no player should ever miss.
Farewell can be read on Accord's Library site, there is also Chronology included there, Automata (game) starts in a year 11945 there, so you can read all that is from there till the last year avaible.
