Anos and Tatsuya from Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei are serious characters and have overwhelming magical power. The animation seems somewhat alike and both characters are surrounded by girls.
Demon King is practically Mahouka in a more fantasy and "fairy" setting.
Both anime tell about a phlegmatic, almost ideal male MC, whose strength is so great that the magic school cannot even adequately assess it, so he is enrolled in the "class of weak losers". And yes, schools in both titles divide students into talented elite and weak losers.
These shows differ in terms of nature of MC's great power (for example, Mahouka's Tatsuya is forced to significantly limit his power throughout the story), but overall, both anime still tell the same story of how a genius was mistakenly identified as a wimp

When I watched the first episode, I was convinced that Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha was created by the same people who made Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei. The carry the same concept of an overpowered, cold main character.

Both shows share similarities revolving around a ridiculously OP protagonist making his name in a magic school. They also share many similarities with characters/plot, with large harem members and MC's that are able to solve any issue easily

Both are school anime with op mc's. In the schools there are students who are ranked below the other students in terms of power. The mc's in these anime are both low rankers but it later becomes known that they are far more powerful than the high ranking students. They both have really great fights between the students in the schools. They even have similar uniforms.

Both these shows feature a ridiculously overpowered protagonist. You don't watch these shows to see if they protagonist will win a fight, he will.
Mahouka features Shiba Tatsuya, a seemingly invincible magician who is shunned by the magic school he attends as he doesn't possess the skills the school grades on but is incredible in every other regard.

School settings with extremely and beyond ridiculously overpowered protagonists who flex without effort before any opponent the series wants to throw at them because of their insane abilities and sheer strenght. Whatever they are badass or Gary Stu is pretty much up to the viewer's taste.
