What I watch:  Mostly CDramas for the practical reason of being able to understand it natively and being able to watch on higher speed settings.  Would like to watch more KDramas and JDramas, but that means reading subs and only having 80% max appreciation for the dramas due to language and cultural barriers.  

I'm neutral to romance, but since CDrama landscape is grotesquely overstuffed with (idol) romance, most of those will not get a high rating from me.  If I do have a bias, it would be for comedy.  I will forgive plot and other issues if the comedy is done right and makes me laugh, which is how most MDL users treat romance.

My first love is a Wuxia and historicals.  But since high quality shows in these genres are becoming rarer and rarer, I find myself watching quite a bit of highly rated modern dramas, in addition to older, acclaimed costume dramas.

How I rate:  I score relative to the average show, not necessarily how I feel about it.  It's predominantly based on story (plot+impact), with acting secondary, and other factors icing on the cake.  Then for shows above 7, I add +0.5 for MDL inflation, because otherwise I end up tanking the ratings of my favorite shows.  Movies, short series, anthologies normally don't receive MDL inflation adjustment.

It's based very roughly on a Bell Curve.  In theory, there will be a fat middle and thin tales.  Hence, I will probably rate your favoritest, dreamiest, popularist, chemistryist idol drama between 5-6, because I'm generous like that ?.
