- International Plant Names Index. {{{2}}}. IPNI. Published online. Accessed: {{{3}}} {{{2}}}.
Usage:
- Use this template to refer to a taxon on the International Plant Names Index (IPNI) web site by providing the "Id:" given at IPNI and date you visited the page. (This template follows the citation format recommended by IPNI which includes the date you accessed the page (therefore, date is not optional).
Example:
{{IPNI|69975-2|2024|11 November|Croton californicus}}
Results:
- International Plant Names Index. 2008. Croton californicus. Published online. Accessed: 1 April 2008.
Syntax:
{{IPNI|optional: id|year|day Month|optional: name|optional: name2}}
Parameters:
- id - Id of taxon on the IPNI web site. If left blank, the search function of IPNI is used.
- year - The year you accessed the taxon page on IPNI
- day Month - the numerical day and text month (e.g., 1 April) of the date you accessed the page on IPNI (follows IPNI citation recommendations)
- name - The taxon name when that name differs from the page title (i.e. when it is disambiguated). This parameter is always and automatically rendered italicized, so it is not necessary to manually italicize the taxon name. Leave blank for unitalicized names (i.e. higher order taxon), and use name2 instead. This parameter should also be used (in conjunction with name2) to provide the Taxon name stripped of unrecognised characters such as a x symbol, or wiki formatting, where those are present in the name on Wikispecies.
- name2 - Use instead if name where the taxon, or parts of the taxon, should not be italicized. Example:
{{IPNI|69975-2|2024|11 November||Euphorbiaceae}}
(note that "name" is left blank). - Additionally name2 should be used to indicate the 'display' name to be used on Wikispecies, where this differs from the name used by IPNI (due to unrecognised characters, or wiki formatting.)
