Lock Box

This is about lock boxes in general. If you are looking for information on rewards you may wish to start with Infinity Lock Box.

A Lock Box (or Lockbox) is a container which will reward the player with one of several predefined items and some Lobi Crystals. The content of each Lock Box rotates on roughly a quarterly basis. Between releases, the [Current Lock Box] is replaced by an [Infinity Lock Box] which contains past items. See each lock box page for the available items.

Acquisition[]

The latest box drops as loot during normal gameplay but can only be opened by using a [Master Key]. Keys are purchasable from the Zen Store for 125 per key, 1125 for 10 keys or 2250 for 20 in the Key Ring Bundle. Master keys can also be found traded on the exchange.

In addition to loot drops, the [Current Lock Box] can also be obtained for free from the Zen Store.

This includes the Infinity Lockbox during events. Lock Boxes can be traded on the exchange, so all prior lock boxes and infinity lock boxes can usually be found listed there.

PC Lock Boxes[]

The currently available Lock Box is also referred to as [Current Lock Box]. See [Infinity Lock Box] for the Infinity reruns.

Console Lock Boxes[]

The first five PS4 and Xbox Lock Boxes differ from PC Lock Boxes as they had to catch up to the PC releases. Since the [Undiscovered Lock Box], initially released in January 2017 on PC, console Lock Boxes began matching their PC versions. Lock Boxes are typically released on console 4-6 weeks after the PC release. See [Infinity Lock Box] for infinity rerun dates.

Infinity Lock Box[]

During special promotional events, usually just a few weeks before a new lock box gets introduced, all previous lock boxes used to become available again for a short time. From 28 June 2016 this was replaced by the [Infinity Lock Box] on PC which contains the items of every previous lock box with the exception of the current and immediately preceding lock box. Some previous T5 ships from retired lock boxes have been replaced by T6 counterparts in the Infinity Box. On Console, All Lock Box events were used until the Infinity Box was introduced on 24 July 2016.

Legacy Lock Boxes[]

Rarer versions, known as Gold boxes, also existed:

Opening mystery packages will grant you either a Cardassian or Ferengi Lock Box.

A few Uncommon lock boxes are still available ingame. These will handle exactly the same as their Common counterparts, and most of the time will change their display from Uncommon to Common with such a simple thing as moving them in your inventory.

Lobi Crystals[]

Lock Boxes will grant a minimum of 4 Lobi Crystals, and an average of around 5 but occasionally far more. Opening a lock box are the only way to obtain Lobi Crystals and they cannot be traded. Items can be purchased from the Lobi Crystal Consortium and traded on the exchange, but are often character or account bound once unpacked. New Lobi store items are often added alongside new Lock Boxes, and carry over their theme.

Tutorial Mission[]

A tutorial mission called “Unlocking the Box” was introduced with the Ferengi Lock Box which rewards 2x [Hacked Ferengi Lock Box] and 2x [Hacked Master Key].
