“Just ask your parents for help.” 👍 Okay, well what if they don’t have the answers? ⤵ In 2022, Zero Gravity coined the term ‘Network Advantage’, which refers to the edge that many people possess through sheer good fortune - having access to a broad professional network. This can mean parents who went to uni, siblings who work high-level professional jobs, or family friends who can give specialised interview and application help. The “It’s not what you know - it’s who you know” phenomenon. But many of us from low-opportunity backgrounds don’t have such an advantage. No one to turn to ask for CV redrafts or interview tips, or even just, “hey, what’s this industry like?“. Before you’ve even made the application, before your intellect or capability enters the equation, you’re already at a disadvantage. That’s a HUGE part of why Joe Seddon founded Zero Gravity. He didn’t want super smart people from low-opportunity backgrounds to miss out due to a lack of network.
