Welcome!

Hello, Lord Foog the 2st, and thanks for joining Uncyclopedia! To learn how things work here and how to edit, please read our Beginner's Guide. To find out more about Uncyclopedia or need more help with something, check out the following pages:

Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~) or use the "sign" button () above the edit box. This will automatically produce your name and the date.

At Uncyclopedia, writing articles is not a requirement, but it certainly is a fun and easy way to express your creativity. To write an article, it's recommended that you start it in your userspace (for example, User:Lord Foog the 2st/sandbox) so you can edit it at your leisure. If you decide to create it in the cold world of mainspace, make sure it is in accordance with the policies laid out above, and if you're not done put the "Work-In-Progress" template – {{construction}} – onto it as well.

If you haven't visited the site in a long while (i.e., since 2015) and are returning under a new name, your old username may have been renamed to Un-youroldusername. You can contact a bureaucrat to have your name changed. The "Uncyclopedia" skin no longer exists, but since we are no longer on Wikia, we now use the Wikipedia-like Vector skin. There are other choices as well, which you can read about at Skin Choice.

If you need help, feel free to ask me on my talk page, ask at the community forum or ask an administrator on their talk page. Additionally, our Adopt-a-Noob program can bring experienced editors straight to you. Simply leave a message on an adopter's talk page to join. I hope you enjoy editing here and being an Uncyclopedian!  Spıke 🎙️22:34 16-Jan-23

Capybara[edit]

Hello and welcome! Thank you for the new article! Please read Help:HowTo, especially on how to code lists. Although the article is about a real thing, and hangs together pretty well, I don't see a relation to the real world; it strikes me as nonsense or perhaps a big inside joke. Please think about amusing the average reader who stumbles onto it; see also HTBFANJS.

I don't like your additions to Minions. The theme of your new section is that nobody knows anything; this may seem funny the first time but, for us, it is about the ten-thousandth. We mention this too in HTBFANJS. The same note about coding lists applies there. And don't be advertising your new article in places it doesn't belong! Happy editing! Spıke 🎙️22:34 16-Jan-23

Hello!
Perhaps my intention of the Capybara is to imply that they are not natural and are in fact robots created by Facebook (Meta). How would I convey that more effectively?
--Lord Foog the 2st (talk) 14:47, 17 January 2023 (UTC)

(Don't need a separate section heading; just indent to set your post off from mine, as I've now done.) You do imply what you said, but it reads like a sales brochure or user's manual. Left undone: (1) What did Meta have in mind? (2) Why is this funny and not just fan-fiction? My approach would be to start out straight (you almost do), then say increasingly outrageous things about the rodent, then stir in Meta, starting with why it chose the capybara to weaponize. 15:06 PS — I did a little of this. You are now on the main page! Spıke 🎙️15:43 17-Jan-23

Congratulations Lord Fogg. :) Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 15:48, 17 January 2023 (UTC)
Ha, I meant Lord Foog. I was thinking of Phileas Fogg (Around the World in 80 days). Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 17:48, 17 January 2023 (UTC)

Under Controversy, I thought it was the retired CM-1s, not the updated model, that fell into the wrong hands. But that's a minor point; the major point is that you are giving a list of concepts when it would be better to do a complete narrative. Separately, on HowTo:Talk Like an Army Drill Sergeant, rants and swears are usually not enough, and ALL CAPITALS is a poor alternative to the highlighting markup available to you. Spıke 🎙️13:49 18-Jan-23

Noted, I'll work on it. Thanks for the feedback n stuff. --Lord Foog the 2st (talk) 14:45, 18 January 2023 (UTC)

Star Wars Holiday Special[edit]

Aw, you're still writing about stuff that doesn't exist. But I suggest you flesh this out. Admin OnePunch has an article with an overview of Star Wars movies — covering the real and the ridiculous — and if you make this work, that may be where it should wind up. Spıke 🎙️21:27 18-Jan-23

Star Wars Holiday Special Exists, It was a horrible spin-off that even George Lucas disowned --Lord Foog the 2st (talk) 14:46, 19 January 2023 (UTC)

Oh. I see. Carry on, then! Spıke 🎙️15:33 19-Jan-23

PS — I changed its name to match Wikipedia, with {{Italic title}} because it's the name of a show. More Uncyclopedia style tips:

  • Intros don't need a section head saying "Introduction".
  • Start off with second-level heads (==), not third. (And never use first, too large.)
  • Your budget figure is what HTBFANJS calls a "nonsense number". Please avoid these; they are not encyclopedic, and not funny enough to overcome this problem. The same is true if you were to let your cat walk on the keyboard.

Happy editing! Spıke 🎙️15:43 19-Jan-23

Yes, the Holiday Special was a real thing, although many wish it wasn't. I've gone in and started a Production section. I might add some more later, as well as expand on your own ideas and comedy strategy. OnePunch Talk to me 16:56, 19-Jan-23

Anyone? This infobox is long and crufty. When you have a field to fill out and your idea of an answer is "Some retard" or something, it shouts to the reader that this page will not be an amusing read. ("I pulled this entry out of a bodily orifice.") Get clever or delete stuff! Cheers! Spıke 🎙️18:29 19-Jan-23

PS — That works! Quibbles: There was no "box office," as it was made-for-TV and didn't air in theaters; also, maybe take this chance to make the point that the movie was not exactly a moneymaker. Spıke 🎙️18:54 19-Jan-23

PPS — I tweaked the promotional poster (no thumbnail; center). Foog, can you crop it to eliminate the text beneath the photo? That part adds clutter and doesn't add humor. Spıke 🎙️19:03 19-Jan-23

Sure--Lord Foog the 2st (talk) 19:05, 19 January 2023 (UTC)
It that better?--Lord Foog the 2st (talk) 19:08, 19 January 2023 (UTC)

That's it! Pro tips: Better to click on the image and then click "Upload new version". Instead, you now have two files! I'll delete the first one, now unused. And next time, spell out what the photo is, don't use initials. This isn't MS-DOS; we have long filenames. Cheers! Spıke 🎙️19:22 19-Jan-23

I've added to this a bit more, and removed the Work In Progress tag. Although it is a bit short, I think it is ready for Mainspace. Spike has even added it to the Main Page in the Recent articles section. I will say, if you are to add more to it, expand on the Plot section — either by parodying the actual film, or using some of my ideas that I put in the Title Crawl. OnePunch Talk to me 04:49, 28-Jan-23

Edit parties[edit]

You have gotten three people interested in editing the same article! Some pro tips:

  • If you click on the history tab at the top of the article, you can see who edited what when. This is why it's good to fill out the Edit Summary to explain the intent of each edit.
  • The page Special:RecentChanges shows who's doing what anywhere.
  • If you click the [edit] button on an individual section, rather than the edit tab at the top of the page, you can edit a section and Uncyclopedia will do the right thing even if someone else is editing some other section.
  • But if two people edit the same section, the second guy to save gets the dreaded Edit Conflict. The instructions are clear, but it's dreaded because you have to either harmonize your work with the other guy's work or just cut and paste to override him completely (but then you should still use history to see if he did anything worthwhile, and edit it back in). Spıke 🎙️19:10 19-Jan-23

Templates[edit]

On your work on your user page: Putting something in {{Double squiggly braces}} tells MediaWiki to copy the entire page ("transclude it") into the page you were editing. Double brackets just makes a reference to it. Your user page is the right page to list your achievements and awards. When using double brackets on a Category or a photo, start with colon; this references it rather than make it appear: Category:Persons Descended From Shallow Gene Pools. With this coding, I referenced the category without including your user page in it! Spıke 🎙️02:03 25-Jan-23

Star Wars Holiday Special‎ bis[edit]

I don't like today's installment much! It is babbling, and spends time celebrating its own babble. Always keep in mind that our format is "encyclopedic." You can tell any joke and make any point you like, but it should superficially resemble Wikipedia. For starters, no Q-and-A in the section heads; don't make the summary that nobody knows (or Nobody cares); cutesy turns-of-phrase should not be the main course but maybe a garnish. 17:16 30-Jan-23 Thanks; I like it much better after your post-edit. Spıke 🎙️15:13 31-Jan-23

California[edit]

I reverted you here too.

  1. Please note the rubber stamp on this page's potato. That indicates it is a Featured Article (voted to appear on the Main Page). These are presumed not to need new help being funny!
  2. Even on a non-featured article, please do not read the first line of an article and presume to improve on it.
  3. And even if you do, please do not add aliases, also-known-as, or the cryptic abbreviation AKA. Even if previous editors had already done this. (See UN:LIST and especially don't make existing lists longer.)
  4. And even if you do, don't do things like: California (AKA: Hell). Your implication, that California is like Hell, is an insult not a joke. If you think it is, you are welcome to make this a comedy theme (drawing the reader to that conclusion, not just stating it). (But don't do it on this page; see (1) above.)

Also on Uncyclopedia:Imperial Colonization. This project page does not need your eulogy. If you want to lament the passing of the IC project, that is what talk pages are for. This one's talk page is Uncyclopedia talk:Imperial Colonization. Don't type personal opinions in-line in pages or articles! Spıke 🎙️00:54 31-Jan-23

UnBooks:Donald Trump and the Taco Bell Incident‎[edit]

Just, no. Same for Joe Biden and the Taco Bell Incident. Write funny stuff. Spıke 🎙️17:28 2-Feb-23

Dallas Stars[edit]

Thanks for this! I listened to them last night (Bruins won in overtime). Please do what I asked before: No first-level headings, don't press Enter three times in a row, no excess capital letters in the section headings. And ditch the Rape Humor and Penis Humor, some of your readers are well into Middle School and want to read stuff that's actually funny! Cheers! Spıke 🎙️17:52 15-Feb-23

I watched them as well, their overtime is clearly amazing. I will admit that the Bruins game-winning shot was quite impressive tbh. --Lord Foog the 2st (talk) 17:57, 15 February 2023 (UTC)

National Hockey League rules User:Lord Foog the 2st/National Hockey League rules[edit]

Please read UN:LIST! This is not a funny article; it is a bullet-point outline for a potentially funny article! Length of pubic hair? How is this funny? Explain, don't write a list! Spıke 🎙️18:31 15-Feb-23

This is headed in the right direction. To do a numbered list, instead of starting the lines with *, start them with #. However, in this case you can't insert paragraph text after an item, because that will reset the next item to 1. Spıke 🎙️01:35 16-Feb-23

I'm changing the name of this to match the name of Wikipedia's article. Spıke 🎙️17:56 16-Feb-23

I have moved this your userspace. OnePunch Talk to me 02:21, 10-Mar-23

Vandal[edit]

Sorry about that! He's gone for good (until he picks his next username). Spıke 🎙️22:04 15-Feb-23

PS — Use the history tab to see the username who performed which edits on a page. In the History listing, (prev) shows a report of the differences from the previous edit. Once you know who it is, the usual way to report him is at UN:BP (though your method worked too). You can just say, "Vandal." — you need not describe the vandalism! Cheers! Spıke 🎙️22:20 15-Feb-23

The Principality of Sealand[edit]

We already have an article on this here.--OculusWild (talk) 05:30, 16 February 2023 (UTC)

Yikes! and it became a Featured Article 11+ years ago (which means, Don't edit it). And its name matches the name at Wikipedia (without "The"; Sealand is a redirect here and a disambiguation page there) and yours doesn't. I recommend you focus on something else and list this at QVFD. Spıke 🎙️09:46 16-Feb-23

QVFD[edit]

Please read the rules at QVFD and use it to request a deletion of an article created in error. Don't just put a template in the article to be deleted and expect us to see it. And yes, Vancouver Cocks was created in error; never make the page name the punch line and expect someone to guess it.

I reply to your other query on my talk page. Spıke 🎙️17:41 23-Feb-23

Likewise created in error was your recent article with the absurdly long title and no comedy concept except (1) to make fun of the article itself, (2) to endear yourself to Uncyclopedians (which you don't do by breaking the rules and taking a bow, and (3) babble. Not funny to potential new readers. Write humor, not pranks. Spıke 🎙️18:47 23-Feb-23

Milkshake[edit]

Welcome back! I gave this a slight mark-up push. But your Buffalo Sabres project is an Abandoned Work in Progress and risks administrative deletion. You alone know what you had in mind; please take that one further! Spıke 🎙️00:29 9-Mar-23

I corrected formatting errors here.

  • Do not capitalize words in section headings (or page names) except for the first, or when grammar requires it. Just like Wikipedia.
  • Double-space to separate paragraphs, but do not triple-space or more.
  • Double curly brackets { } include the entire category page in your article, not what you want. Use double square brackets [ ] to include the page in the category.
  • Please learn it's vs its. Spıke 🎙️16:24 9-Mar-23

Stop larding up See Also sections[edit]

These are generally three-or-so articles. The purpose of the section is to be funny, not to be a complete list of all articles that have anything to do with the article in question. That is what Categories and Navigation Templates are for. That is, to see all Uncyclopedia pages that relate to Texas, the reader goes to Category:Texas. Spıke 🎙️20:32 9-Mar-23

Vancouver Canucks[edit]

Do not leave an article in mainspace without its {{WIP}} tag on the basis that "I'll redo this later"! I put {{WIP}} back on and if you don't attend to it, an Admin may delete it. Alternatively, I can move this to User:Lord Foog the 2st/Vancouver Canucks and you can have all the time you need. Separately, I removed the Arabic from {{NHL}}. The purpose of this nav-template is to guide readers to your article, not to lay out what your comedy strategy is. Spıke 🎙️18:54 14-Mar-23

Alright, thank you. --Lord Foog the 2st (talk) 19:23, 14 March 2023 (UTC)

Your edit today[edit]

Please read Section 13 above, this time. Spıke 🎙️14:52 24-Mar-23

VFD[edit]

In one of your VFD nominations, you state, "I don't mean to start mass VFDing stuff," and then you do exactly that. In part, your grounds for deleting some of these is superficial and easily repairable, like lack of photos. The latest of these, Admins have rushed to defend, suggesting your VFD campaign is not being received well. It seems to me you have found several articles where the author picked a topic and commenced to babble without a comedy theme or strategy in mind. I could say the same thing about a couple of yours. That doesn't mean we VFD them too; in a week, you'll re-read them and see it, and correct them. Anyway, the moral is that, when you find a crappy article, consider adopting it and fixing it. Spıke 🎙️03:39 7-Apr-23

User:Lord Foog the 2st/Capybara[edit]

This is where your article went. You may add an article to the main encyclopedia with {{WIP}} indicating you are in the process of completing it. You may not gut the article and put in the text your plans to return to it someday. Spıke 🎙️16:36 17-Apr-23

Buffalo Sabres[edit]

This is deleted, as you tagged it with {{WIP}} and did nothing with it for a month. Separately, your Amy Schumer is crap. It labors to say cruel and mean things about the subject while having no detectable comedy strategy. Spıke 🎙️16:45 17-Apr-23

"Open discussion page"[edit]

Tiger, every talk page is open, and to the point, every Uncyclopedia article has a talk page, on which comments are invited. This is implicit. If you create talk pages to invite Uncyclopedians to mix it up with you, the place to do this is Grindr. I already gave you a piece of my mind, on my user talk page. Spıke 🎙️00:59 9-May-23

Am I not allowed to ask others for a piece of their mind? Also, I don't appreciate the semi-insults hidden within your messages directed towards me. Lord Foog the 2st (talk) 14:16, 9 May 2023 (UTC)
It's not that you're not allowed, more so that there is no point in asking, as the entire point of an article's talk page is to discuss the article in question. Also, regarding the semi-insults, I agree are unacceptable — you are clearly a bird that uses Plenty of Fish (not for dating, but for food). OnePunch Talk to me 04:27, 10-May-23

User:Lord Foog the 2st/UnNews:Disney braces for invasion[edit]

Now, with your recent UnNews article: what? There is nothing to this. Who is this Ron guy, and why does he want to invade? What delegation and bureaucracy? The reader (including myself) may not be American, and know what the current real-life news is at the moment or the people you mention. Also, you have tagged this with '{Original}', but after a quick Google search, I have found that this is based on something happening at the moment. Additionally, it is also way too short. I will be moving this to your userspace until you can finish it. If you want any more help/tips/etc, just ask myself, or even Spike (if you ask really, really nicely) and we'll be happy to assist. Now, I'm going back on my writers strike. Cheers, OnePunch Talk to me 04:27, 10-May-23

OnePunch, there is something to this; Ron is the Governor of Florida, who famously responded to Disney inserting itself in state politics by mobilizing the legislature to withdraw a crony deal by which Disney was its own municipality. It is not merely U.S. state politics of no interest to an Australian, as DeSantis is the most likely primary challenger to Trump in 2024; nor is it dated, as Disney's "municipal" board, on its way out the door, inked a 30-year "contract" to thwart the reforms. The problem with this is that Ron DeSantis versus Disney is practically a meme at this point, and this stubby UnNews adds no clever new angle but merely dances around it. Spıke 🎙️11:02 10-May-23
Another problem is readers possibly perceiving this as advocacy, and I speak as a New Hampshire voter currently being carpet-bombed with junk mail and TV ads from both camps. (The DeSantis ads are from an "unaffiliated" PAC, as he has not officially announced.) Uncyclopedia material ought to be funny to both camps, as we set out in Extremists, and take pains not to be seen as taking sides. A fantasy about this political conflict leading to civil war is a design error. "Homosexual protagonism" is not humor but the actual basis of the conflict, Disney and DeSantis both trying to take sides in a cultural dispute. UnNews should not join them.
Technical problems: (1) "as will be explained later in this article" means the article is poorly organized. Stubby UnNews should not include stage direction. (2) UNQUOTE explains that Wikipedia articles don't have initial quotations, and Uncyclopedia should not regard them as a religion either. Especially UnNews shouldn't have them; real news articles don't contain frontispieces. And if you must, you must use {{Q}}. But, don't. (3) Learn how to use its/it's, don't ask OnePunch.
