Shouldn't we have more geological text to balance the article ? Perhaps there should be 2 separate articles ? Rod57 (talk) 22:42, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article states: "This transformation occurs in the first few hundred meters of burial and results in the creation of two primary products" (emphasis added by me). I am not competent in this area, but wonder whether the author really meant to reference distance or whether time or some other variable is intended.--Rpclod (talk) 17:59, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The term diagenesis is also used in environmental chemistry and ecology to refer to chemical transformation and remineralization in sediments under lakes,streams, and wetlands. This transformation may lead to availability of materials to be recycled back into surface water. Geologists may find this use of the term diagenesis inappropriate. Time and ability prevent me from writing a section on this in the main article, but one relevant citation would be:

is unclear since 'mineralogy' links to Mineral where the lede para there ends with "The study of minerals is called mineralogy." Diagensis "causes … changes in the rocks original mineralogy" has a process causing change in an original study. How to clarify? Humanengr (talk) 14:15, 24 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
