Merge discussion

[edit]

Notwithstanding the NAC at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Legacy, Calgary (proper read of consensus, not calling the close into question), merging of this article is impractical for the following reasons:

  • Merging the content would overwhelm the main article List of neighbourhoods in Calgary as it would be the only neighbourhood with material information (it's literally a list with census style data)
  • The majority of the neighborhoods on that list have articles. Right or wrong, that is the way it is, so you either have to keep or delete the article, merge is not an option. So renominate it or live with it being here, those are the options, but consensus wasn't delete. Since nothing has been done since Summer 2017 it appears the consensus is actually "who cares".

Suggest if someone wanted to they could make an article about the quadrants of Calgary and have prose style summaries in there (really extensive detail about all the neighborhoods isn't really needed I wouldn't think). Or even better by the Wards listed in Calgary City Council. Anyway in light of the above, I have just stripped the merge tag with no action taken. --kelapstick(bainuu) 23:30, 27 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know if I understand intent behind "proper read of consensus, not calling the close into question", but I support removal of the tag and leaving the article as is until such time as someone feels it necessary to renominate it. It is impractical to merge the article per the reasons stated. I said my peace during the RfD and didn't agree with the NAC outcome of the discussion. Three other similar RfDs that occurred concurrently or shortly thereafter had the opposite outcome for Nolan Hill (AC), Sage Hill (AC), and Hays Ridge (NAC). Fair enough, probably closer to no consensus, regardless it was not delete, which is effectively what would occur should it be merged. As I said above, any merge should probably be to an article about Calgary's wards, which would be more managable (similar to how the former town of Garson, Ontario is part of the former town of Nickel Centre), but they should all be drafted before hand, for consistency sake.--kelapstick(bainuu) 13:12, 28 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
