South Carolina originally called their counties Districts. When did they stop using District and switch to County? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Symphony Girl (talk • contribs) 03:04, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
According to the "South Carolina Information Highway" (www.sciway.net) the change from district to county occurred at the 1868 constitution. But I think counties existed before then, as subdivisions of districts in some cases, from what I can tell.DJGristle (talk) 17:18, 29 July 2008 (UTC) I love you!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.138.116.219 (talk) 00:18, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
