CV

I can't find Bunge Listed as Guggenheim Fellow in 2009 (in the wikipedia page though), but he is listed as Guggenheim Fellow in 1971, the earlier date complies with the acknowledgment given in the chapter "On confusing 'measure' with 'measurement'" from his 1973 book The methodological unity of science, p. 121 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.176.133.152 (talk) 13:19, 7 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Shouldn't "left wing liberal" link to social liberalism? JS Mill was a classical liberal though and Ingenieros was a state socialist AFAIK. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Boddika (talkcontribs) 22:17, 20 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

References

[edit]

Would like to see a reference for "dismissed by the Vienna Circle as meaningless" comment. Without a reference the comment smells like an ad hominem attack.

I'm modifying the references to "online French translations" of Bunge's books. These links don't point to online versions of the books, but to the website of a french publishing company called Vigdor that sells downloadable electronic versions of these books, which are not available for online reading. Moreover, as far as I know, commercial links of this kind are not allowed on a Wikipedia article. I have changed them to ordinary book references. --201.236.39.119 03:18, 28 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I think the page should mention the fact that Dr. Bunge holds a chair at McGill University, he is the Frothingham Professor of Logic and Metaphysics.

Problems on editions

[edit]

Hello: I have repetedly deleted the sentence stating Bunge was schooled in Caracas and so on, because it is simply not true. This fact seems an attempt to deceive Wikipedia readers, and should need no more discussion. However, I only see the changes I made when I am logged in. When I arrive to the webpage just as a visitor I see the old version, that is the one saying that Bunge did not succeed as a student of physics (a statement which, I repeat, is utterly inaccurate). Can anyone tell me why is it so? Thank you--Mechanismic (talk) 17:16, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There is an RfC on the question of using "Religion: None" vs. "Religion: None (atheist)" in the infobox on this and other similar pages.

The RfC is at Template talk:Infobox person#RfC: Religion infobox entries for individuals that have no religion.

Please help us determine consensus on this issue. --Guy Macon (talk) 18:38, 21 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This link does not work any more: http://www.realclearscience.com/2010/10/06/is_psychoanalysis_science_or_pseudoscience_237794.html This link (1) works: http://www.mythesfreudiens.com/philosophy.pseudoscience.pdf This (2) https://www.newscientist.com/article/mg20827806.200-should-psychoanalysis-be-in-the-science-museum/ is only a teaser with the full article behind a paywall. What is preferred? Link removal, substitution by (1) or by (2)? BeginnersMind (talk) 11:05, 18 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Date of death

[edit]

The date of death is not correct. It is Feb 24 and not Feb 25. There is, unfortunately, only a private mail of Bunge's wife as source. --BeginnersMind (talk) 12:34, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

People have been changing the date of death back and forth between Feb 24 and Feb 25, likely because there are conflicting reports in the news. I just changed it back to Feb 24 based on the reports in Clarín [1], CNN en Español [2], La Razón [3], and elsewhere, but if a more definitive source contradicts this, then it should be changed again.
