Myint Swe (born 1951) → Myint Swe (general) – Per WP:QUALIFIER, parenthetical disambiguation should be descriptive and as imprecise as possible. ― Tartan357 Talk 17:00, 4 March 2021 (UTC)
- Move to Myint Swe There is a clear indication that he is clear WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. The former "Myint Swe" link needs to moved to Myint Swe (disambiguation). 36.77.94.53 (talk) 22:15, 4 March 2021 (UTC)
- I support this new proposal. ― Tartan357 Talk 01:55, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
- Support the primary topic. 162.208.168.92 (talk) 01:58, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose original move due to his rule as Myanmar vice president that indicates he is WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. So it needs to be moved to just Myint Swe in order to negate the need to decide whether he is born in 1951 or general. The dab page would move to Myint Swe (disambiguation) over the redirect. 116.206.35.8 (talk) 09:47, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose Myint Swe (born 1951) → Myint Swe (general), but would support Myint Swe (born 1951) → Myint Swe and Myint Swe → Myint Swe (disambiguation) per 36.77.94.53, Tartan357, 162.208.168.92 and 116.206.35.8. The general is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 00:17, 6 March 2021 (UTC)

Myint Swe is not Myanmar President. He is one of military representative. The real elected government is CRPH and Win Myint is President of Republic of Union of Myanmar and Mahn Win Khaing Than is Vice president of Myanmar. 2406:3003:2077:1696:5D2A:E302:AC2E:2E48 (talk) 14:21, 16 March 2021 (UTC)

No longer the acting president
[edit]I do not think Myint Swe continued to be the acting president after the SAC was formed. He appeared in a meeting of the government on February 2 just before the SAC was formed, and hasn't been seen since. Min Aung Hlaing stated in an August speech:
The State Administration Council started to carry out all responsibilities of the State handed over by the then Acting President on 1 February 2021 by adhering to provisions of the Constitution (2008).
Sources have stated that Myint Swe "transferred power" to Min Aung Hlaing immediately after being named Acting President: [1], [2], [3]. Finally, the CIA World Factbook does not mention Myint Swe. I believe the totality of this information suggests that Myint Swe ceased to be Acting President immediately after handing power over to the SAC. ― Tartan357 Talk 05:23, 28 September 2021 (UTC)
- Seeing no objections here, I have WP:BOLDly implemented my proposal. ― Tartan357 Talk 08:00, 29 September 2021 (UTC)
- According to the constitution of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar 2008 , the state emergency will last 2years and then handed power to the president or acting president then held multi party election and will hand power to an elected members. Both Myint Swe (First Vice President) & Henry Van Thio ( Second Vice President) are in the presidential avenue and get monthly salaries . Unreliable sources said Henry Van Thio was detained and deposed from his portfolio State Administration Council Spokesperson ; Deputy Minister of Information Lt.Gen Zaw Min Tun said both first Vice president, second vice president & Speaker of Pyithu Hluttaw (Lower House ) are in their respective homes ( homes got according to their portfolios) and salaries due to the constitution. They term wil end when the next elected government take their roles . LingThukhaShwe (talk) 14:31, 29 September 2021 (UTC)

Yep . We , Burmese don't like that military regime but we even accept that Myint Swe is acting president and Min Aung Hlaing is Prime Minister due to their defacto continuation of offices. LingThukhaShwe (talk) 04:07, 30 September 2021 (UTC)
- If Burmese editors can prove that Myint Swe is the current Acting president, Tartan357 you did a big mistake as conspiracy to disseminate false information because you changed information for your own opinion. We will report you on noticeboard. 117.18.230.188 (talk) 04:10, 30 September 2021 (UTC)

You can't show any proves and facts and saying like 'believe the totality of this information suggests that Myint Swe ceased to be Acting President " . It's just your beliefs not the truth , not the ground situation. Those vice Presidents are in their respective places . I already show links and news .What can I show you more ? I'm saying with facts, constitution articles , state media announcement , on ground situations . So, can you prove that those places are vacant ? No one announces that those places are vacant and the vice Presidents are not resigned . They're neither under house arrest nor in the prison . I have been saying this for many times . I show sources and you neglect it and change unrealistic source editing . If you have any prove that those people are resign or under house arrest, you can leave under here. Lastly, the source you add recent arrest list 4th February ,2021 is outdated . I am showing the newly announcement on 25th September, 2021 . LingThukhaShwe (talk) 07:20, 30 September 2021 (UTC)
- Hi, Tartan357. I found that LingThukhaShwe's first claim is provided in a BBC Burmese article titled "Hluttaw Speaker T Khun Myat and Vice president Henry Van Thio Not Arrested; Still in Their Governmental Houses". It says that despite the coup, Myint Swe, Henry Van Thio and T Khun Myat remained unchanged under 2008 constitution; they will constantly hold their original position until the state of emergency ends and a general election is held. PS: The exact name of the law affected is "အရေးပေါ်ကာလဆိုင်ရာပြဋ္ဌာန်းချက်ဥပဒေ ပုဒ်မ ၄၂၄" in Burmese. But I have no idea how to translate that law term, with correct usage. (Roughly translation would be "Established Law for State of Emergency, Article 424.") Htanaungg (talk) 09:57, 30 September 2021 (UTC)
- Oh, I found it. It's Chapter XI: Provisions on State of Emergency (of 2008 constitution), and the article 424 stated that "Notwithstanding that the term of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw has expired, the President and the Vice-presidents, or the Speaker of the Pyithu Hluttaw and the Speaker of the Amyotha Hluttaw shall remain in their office until the new President and new Vice-presidents, or the new Speaker of the Pyithu Hluttaw and the new Speaker of the Amyotha Hluttaw have been elected in accord with the Constitution." Htanaungg (talk) 10:20, 30 September 2021 (UTC)

Further misconduct of this nature will be subject to immediate sanctions (there will be no further warnings). Wikipedia isn't Twatter or Fakebook. We are a reference site, not a social media one. - IP blocked per latest nonsense, then instantly evades. Instead of bothering with the range/proxies, I'm just gonna WP:SEMI this talk page and the main article for a week. Again, acting unprofessionally and aggressively will be see those edits expunged and those editors sanctioned. Attacks and other kind of aggressive nonsense will not be allowed to stand. As I was about to protect the main article, I noticed that edits reflecting Htanaungg's clarification had not been entered yet. I wonder why that is so. Is this a de facto/de jure thing? Otherwise, how should the Constitution's until... elected
definitions be labeled, then? El_C 13:10, 30 September 2021 (UTC)
- Htanaungg's explanation of Provisions of State Emergency is correct and it's according with the constitution. Thanks for all . LingThukhaShwe (talk) 13:17, 30 September 2021 (UTC)
- El_C, what I clarified is a de facto thing, practised by the military junta in reality, which the de jure NUG doesn't recognize. Htanaungg (talk) 13:35, 30 September 2021 (UTC)
- Htanaungg, how would you recommend that be reflected on the page? Feel free to be bold. El_C 13:38, 30 September 2021 (UTC)
- El_C, I just made a restoration. It'd be better you make further edits to reflect the fact. If okay, I'd like to ask you to make some same edits at Henry Van Thio and T Khun Myat too. Htanaungg (talk) 14:01, 30 September 2021 (UTC)
- Htanaungg, sure. But, I, myself, am not confident enough in my grasp of the subject matter to edit the page, or other related pages, directly. And even if I were, I'm acting in my capacity as an uninvolved admin, so it'd be inappropriate for me to endorse (outright) anything save for truly WP:BLUESKY stuff, not least if it involves bolstering my own edits. Legality of coup
[edit]@KhantWiki: Apologies for my edit summary, I think it is more rude than I intended. Happy to discuss the subject here. I believe that since sources overwhelmingly refer to the events of 1 February as a coup and we have a source from a reputable NGO cited in this article which does a detailed legal analysis and explains that Myint Swe's assumption of presidential authority was unconstitutional, the article should reflect that in its description of events. Namely that Win Myint was removed outside the normal legal process. Otherwise we are giving a WP:FALSEBALANCE with the military's point of view. Their point of view is mentioned in that paragraph, it's just not treated as reality because that's not how sources describe it. 25stargeneral (talk) 01:02, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hello User:25stargeneral, No problem at all. My apologies for replacing "he" or "him" with "Myint Swe". The one that you asked in the edit summary of Myint Swe's article, "Where is the WP:NPOV"? Let me explain. The WP:NPOV is where the "illegally" term is used where it said "Win Myint was "illegally" removed from office" that's only WP:NPOV part. I apologize for any confusion regarding the "illegally" term. That's the only part that needs to be neutral. I think it's not a big deal, I just wanna make it neutral and a neutral point of view according to Wikipedia's neutral point of view standard rules, and guidelines. If you find it suitable to revert the change, you can if it looks neutral to you and pretty much others. To me, it don't look that much of a WP:NPOV because it's a negative term for a Wikipedia article and it's important to maintain a WP:NOV point of view. My intention was to maintain a (WP:NPOV) in the article, and I believe avoiding terms with a negative connotation is crucial for Wikipedia's standards. Thank you for discussing it and understanding it. We will look more further to improving whole Myanmar Wikipedia articles coverage in the future. Thanks for discussing.
