Reply to image question

[edit]

Images that permit only non-commercial use are not permitted on Wikipedia. Wikipedia:Image use policy says, "Images which are listed as for non-commercial use only, by permission, or which restrict derivatives are unsuitable for Wikipedia and will be deleted on sight. Such images still have restricted rights, which goes against the GFDL, under which all content on Wikipedia is licensed." If the author only granted permission for the image to be used in a "non-commercial" setting or said "Wikipedia can use the image", that permission is incompatible with Wikipedia's requirements. In order for Wikipedia to use an image, it has to be available under a "free" license like the GFDL. Please see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for a sample letter to use to ask for permission. --BigDT 19:05, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:20030826-NMR.Night-Christopher.McGuire.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 02:00, 30 June 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 02:00, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The article Yuko Araki has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

no evidence that this passes wp:bio

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Oo7565 (talk) 04:23, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited The Ambassador (2005 film), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Guatemalan (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. A beer for you!

[edit]
Thanks for creating the new Hot link (sausage) article. Here's a cold beer to go with the hot links. North America1000 06:57, 18 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Hello, 156ableitem. I've nominated Hot link (sausage), an article you either created or to which you significantly contributed, to appear on Wikipedia's Main Page as part of Did you knowDYK comment symbol. You can see the hook and the discussion here. You are welcome to participate! Thank you. North America1000 07:42, 18 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

On 29 September 2016, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Hot link (sausage), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that in Texas, the hot link sausage is usually prepared using beef, while in Chicago, pork is typically used? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Hot link (sausage). You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Hot link (sausage)), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

[edit]

Hi! I see that in your edit at Litter box you made changes such as from [[cat]]s to [[cat|cats]]. There's no need to do that, as the two forms of the link have the same effect - there's more on this at Help:Link#Wikilinks, though the examples there are so concise that they aren't very clear. You may even find that a bot comes along and replaces your expanded links with the shorter forms again. -- John of Reading (talk) 14:52, 22 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Al Jarreau, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ripon College (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
