Hello, Dl2000,
You didn't mean to create this redirect, you were just correcting a bad page move from an attempt to hijack an article. But Twinkle sees you as the page creator, hence you receive this message. Thanks. Liz Read! Talk! 19:57, 27 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Kevin Cooney

[edit]

Regarding your hasty revert on my edit to the article in question and your subsequent warning on my talk page:

Please refrain from hijacking pages as you did with Kevin Cooney.

You can hardly describe this as a 'hijacking' when most of the current wikilinks to [[Kevin Cooney]] are already intended for the American actor: [1]. I was fixing a mistake across multiple articles, but now you've put the problem back to as it was before. Farolif (talk) 23:04, 2 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You have restored a page with outdated and incorrect information that conflicts with other Wikipedia pages. Bob Webster (talk) 21:06, 16 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Umm... [a big citation needed here]. Making an unexplained degradation of the article is not best practice here. There could have at least been a category or two and a proper, coherent lede, for starters. Dl2000 (talk) 02:34, 17 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

New Pages Patrol newsletter June 2023

[edit]

Hello Dl2000,

New Page Review queue April to June 2023

Backlog

Redirect drive: In response to an unusually high redirect backlog, we held a redirect backlog drive in May. The drive completed with 23851 reviews done in total, bringing the redirect backlog to 0 (momentarily). Congratulations to Hey man im josh who led with a staggering 4316 points, followed by Meena and Greyzxq with 2868 and 2546 points respectively. See this page for more details. The redirect queue is steadily rising again and is steadily approaching 4,000. Please continue to help out, even if it's only for a few or even one review a day.

Redirect autopatrol: All administrators without autopatrol have now been added to the redirect autopatrol list. If you see any users who consistently create significant amounts of good quality redirects, consider requesting redirect autopatrol for them here.

WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team, consisting of Sam, Jason and Susana, and also some patches from Jon, has been hard at work updating PageTriage. They are focusing their efforts on modernising the extension's code rather than on bug fixes or new features, though some user-facing work will be prioritised. This will help make sure that this extension is not deprecated, and is easier to work on in the future. In the next month or so, we will have an opt-in beta test where new page patrollers can help test the rewrite of Special:NewPagesFeed, to help find bugs. We will post more details at WT:NPPR when we are ready for beta testers.

Articles for Creation (AFC): All new page reviewers are now automatically approved for Articles for Creation draft reviewing (you do not need to apply at WT:AFCP like was required previously). To install the AFC helper script, visit Special:Preferences, visit the Gadgets tab, tick "Yet Another AFC Helper Script", then click "Save". To find drafts to review, visit Special:NewPagesFeed, and at the top left, tick "Articles for Creation". To review a draft, visit a submitted draft, click on the "More" menu, then click "Review (AFCH)". You can also comment on and submit drafts that are unsubmitted using the script.

You can review the AFC workflow at WP:AFCR. It is up to you if you also want to mark your AFC accepts as NPP reviewed (this is allowed but optional, depends if you would like a second set of eyes on your accept). Don't forget that draftspace is optional, so moves of drafts to mainspace (even if they are not ready) should not be reverted, except possibly if there is conflict of interest.

Pro tip: Did you know that visual artists such as painters have their own SNG? The most common part of this "creative professionals" criteria that applies to artists is WP:ARTIST 4b (solo exhibition, not group exhibition, at a major museum) or 4d (being represented within the permanent collections of two museums).

Nevan

[edit]

I turned Nevan into a redirect because it was a name page with only one notable person, while the anthroponymy guidelines state that a name is only notable if there are two or more people with Wikipedia articles who have the name. It wasn't vandalism. AllTheUsernamesAreInUse (talk) 23:56, 25 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

New pages patrol needs your help!

[edit]
New pages awaiting review as of June 30th, 2023.

Hello Dl2000,

The New Page Patrol team is sending you this impromptu message to inform you of a steeply rising backlog of articles needing review. If you have any extra time to spare, please consider reviewing one or two articles each day to help lower the backlog. You can start reviewing by visiting Special:NewPagesFeed. Thank you very much for your help.

K. N. Pandita - difference in edits

[edit]

Hello DI000, I made structural changes to the article without removing any previous content. My aim was to enhance readability by organizing it into two sections: "Early Life and Education" and "Awards." I have provided evidence of the edits made for your reference. CGGCA201 (talk) 01:57, 3 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@CGGCA201: Thank you for this. One issue was that your previous edit did delete a template, and did not explain the other changes with an edit summary so was probably interpreted as a test edit. Upon reconsideration I have restored the section structure, especially since the article is at stub status. Dl2000 (talk) 03:24, 3 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Dl2000 I appreciate your kindness and support. Moving forward, I will exercise caution when editing stub pages. CGGCA201 (talk) 08:02, 3 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Help and guidance needed.

[edit]

Hello DI2000,

As you may have noticed, I updated the talk page of Manav Gupta on my efforts to work upon the structure and the overall article according to standards practiced and accepted in Wikipedia. My effort and hope is towards creating a featured article someday and I sincerely look forward to collaborating with users like yourself. I'd like to ask for your help and guidance on removing the following template that was posted on May 2014:

This article contains wording that promotes the subject in a subjective manner without imparting real information. Please remove or replace such wording and instead of making proclamations about a subject's importance, use facts and attribution to demonstrate that importance.  (May 2014) (Learn how and when to remove this template message)

As one can note, the article has had significant improvements following and adhering to Wikipedia: Manual of Style/Biography and Wikipedia: Biography dos and don'ts in the edit of 2023.

In adherence to Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, I have done no original research on this subject. This is simply my contribution towards doing justice to topics such as biographies of living persons and adding to Wikipedia: WikiProject Visual arts. I'd like to believe that I have been thorough in citing notable references to any text placed in the article. The text used in the article does use facts and attribution to demonstrate it's existence.

As you may notice, the banner still remains, post my work on the article. I'd like your help to address it and would sincerely appreciate any feedback on how to proceed.

Looking forward!

Thank you,
Max roosevelt (talk) 13:16, 19 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Macif

[edit]

Hi. Regarding my edits on the Macif pages, I agree with your comments about the need of a disambiguation page. I discussed this topic here. And the conclusion was to make the edits I did today: primary topic = insurance company, with description of sailing sponsoring + disambiguation page. After your revert, there is no more page for the insurance company called Macif. And the page Macif only covers the Macif (trimaran) which is one of the several boats sponsored by the Macif company. simon (talk) 15:52, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This was in a mess but I have unpicked the incorrect attempts to move pages by copy and paste and made a formal move request. See User_talk:Simon.letort#August_2023. PamD 16:31, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@PamD:, @Simon.letort: Just back from a break, but now see the plan here. After trying to make some sense of the discussion and pages, seems best indeed to sort this out by having MACIF insurance company as a prominent topic, with the ship page moved to Macif (trimaran). Perhaps my revert was abrupt, but we should be avoiding WP:CUTPASTE page moves. Dl2000 (talk) 17:08, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@PamD did a great job requesting a "move request" and explained why cut/paste should be avoided. simon (talk) 04:23, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Distinguished Canadians has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Appears to fail WP:NTV and WP:GNG. Tagged for notability since 2020

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. New pages patrol newsletter

[edit]

Hello Dl2000,

New Page Review article queue, March to September 2023

Backlog update: At the time of this message, there are 11,300 articles and 15,600 redirects awaiting review. This is the highest backlog in a long time. Please help out by doing additional reviews!

October backlog elimination drive: A one-month backlog drive for October will start in one week! Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled. Articles will earn 4x as many points compared to redirects. You can sign up here.

PageTriage code upgrades: Upgrades to the PageTriage code, initiated by the NPP open letter in 2022 and actioned by the WMF Moderator Tools Team in 2023, are ongoing. More information can be found here. As part of this work, the Special:NewPagesFeed now has a new version in beta! The update leaves the NewPagesFeed appearance and function mostly identical to the old one, but updates the underlying code, making it easier to maintain and helping make sure the extension is not decommissioned due to maintenance issues in the future. You can try out the new Special:NewPagesFeed here - it will replace the current version soon.

Notability tip: Professors can meet WP:PROF #1 by having their academic papers be widely cited by their peers. When reviewing professor articles, it is a good idea to find their Google Scholar or Scopus profile and take a look at their h-index and number of citations. As a very rough rule of thumb, for most fields, articles on people with a h-index of twenty or more, a first-authored paper with more than a thousand citations, or multiple papers each with more than a hundred citations are likely to be kept at AfD.

Reviewing tip: If you would like like a second opinion on your reviews or simply want another new page reviewer by your side when patrolling, we recommend pair reviewing! This is where two reviewers use Discord voice chat and screen sharing to communicate with each other while reviewing the same article simultaneously. This is a great way to learn and transfer knowledge.

Reminders:

A tag has been placed on Category:Albums recorded in Brazil indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 01:20, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

November Articles for creation backlog drive

[edit]

Hello Dl2000:

WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than 2 months outstanding reviews from the current 4+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 November 2023 through 30 November 2023.

You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.

Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.

There is a backlog of over 1000 pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:23, 31 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi DI2000. I made certain significant edits to the page yesterday as the previous one was outdated and referred to now-non-existent URLs. However, it once again is back to reading like its outdated version. Please help to restore the changes made with permission from the person, whose information it is, themselves. Hi, it is regarding this edit. Was the MDY date format causing errors? I am unable to see any. It was the format before 2021. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:18, 18 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Should have made it clearer that the template was applied by mistake, rather than causing a mistake. Also, it was definitely not "the format before 2021" e.g. [2]. Dl2000 (talk) 00:35, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That time it didn't even have a 'American English' template. The MDY dateformat was used in conjunction with the EngVar template updated in 2021 in the article and the talk page. And it stayed as a stable version for sometime. That being said, I'm going to run the script again in MDY-format if it isn't causing any errors. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 10:53, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oxford Royale Academy

[edit]

Hello,

Yesterday, I dedicated a considerable amount of time to enhancing the quality of the Oxford Royale Academy page. Initially, I refined the English for clarity and coherence. Additionally, I incorporated Wikipedia hyperlinks to key information within the page to enrich it further. It's important to note that I neither added nor removed any content; my sole contribution was the inclusion of a logo. I'm perplexed as to why my modifications were entirely reverted without any justification. Could you please provide some insight into this decision? Naxh (talk) 10:19, 12 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Finally had time to do a Google search on whether it should be Special Operation Group or Special Operations Group.

According to the count (of results), the former (Special Operation Group) has a count of 48,700,000 results while the latter has a count of 4,660,000. But there's been mixups I'm seeing of both terms.

For instance, this gov site shows "Special Operations Group" used while another shows the same thing.

Photos for Wikipedia must be permitted under Wikipedia's image use policy - any photos to be contributed to Wikipedia must either be under a "free" licence (WP:FREECONTENT) or be copyright content that meets specific restrictions (see WP:NFC). Please review and understand those policies and determine whether the proposed photos meet those policies. Dl2000 (talk) 21:42, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much for your help!! I will review the policies and forward the details to him. He has copy rights and will follow the description and posting guidelines. It has been a challenging because of the language barrier as well as the web programming format. Can I find or request a trusted editor/administrator or bureaucrat that can post the pictures or help me the layouts. I have read how to request and you were listed as a reference. We listed a new picture with descriptions but paused adding more until I did our homework to make sure it was done properly. Date format

[edit]

The date format "February 15" is just as acceptable and valid as "15 February", according to the Wikipedia style manual (see MOS:DATEFORMAT). Your unnecessary changing from one date format to another [for example, your recent changes to Thomas Johnson (murderer)] appears to be an example of the assumption of North American cultural ascendancy without considering differences in other cultures. Ikeshut2 (talk) 00:13, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you read a little further on at MOS:DATEUNIFY, both formats should not be used at once, which was the case with the version(s) before my recent edit. Since Johnson was Australian, it seemed reasonable to unify things towards WP:AUSTYLE. Dl2000 (talk) 01:22, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Disruptive editing, continuing to add unsourced content, unexplained removal of maintenance tags, repeated addition of unsourced content

[edit]

Found that there were 2 IP address ranges 2001:1388:A44:0:0:0:0:0 and 2001:1388:A45:0:0:0:0:0 All edits from the IP address found to be the same person. Harassing and deleting content in other articles which had administrators warn and rollback more than 20 disruptive edits Found the latest edit, redo it. 2001:1388:A44:EDDB:98F3:C8BE:82C6:175D https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/2001:1388:A44:EDDB:98F3:C8BE:82C6:175D Repeatedly adding unsourced content and deleting maintenance tags by correcting them and not explained in the article Nine (singer) in terms of being a fan club Due to adding content to live broadcast activities to sell products Duplicate content is added which is not important. As with most of the content in this article

Edit history Nine (singer) has only one person, IP addresses starting with 2001:1388:A45 and 2001:1388:A44 all are the same person The edits will be made in the same way, namely adding information to the article without the source in Nine (singer) and deleting and disturbing other articles. which always has admin rollback This person made repeated changes with new IP addresses like this.

The entire article was edited by the same person, unexplained removal of maintenance tags, and recently used a new IP address to add a lot of unsourced content.

Administrators address disruptive IP address user behavior issues. Continuously adding unsourced content to Nine (singer) A single person from Lima, Peru, used the IP address to reverse an update notification. Unexplained deletion of maintenance tags Modifications were not performed according to the maintenance tag instructions. Please disturb other articles as well. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/2001:1388:A45:7B00:358F:FBE6:A148:46A0

repeated addition of unsourced content I think examining a person is difficult. This person from Lima, Peru uses a different IP address every time they resolve. Every time delete and add information to another article. will be reversed Then edit again with the new IP address.

This person created information in the Nine (singer) article and also caused mischief in other articles. Add information without references Administrators always roll back edits that this person deleted on other articles. Editing that disturbs another article and edited and added information only to the article Nine (singer) The person using all IP addresses in this Nine (singer) article is the same person who removed the maintenance tag without editing it.

The person using all the IP addresses I attached is the same person. I'm only giving examples because there are many. The entire article Nine (singer) has an IP address from the same person from Lima, Peru, but the IP address in the update is different every time the information is added. This person deleted the maintenance tag notice. Delete without correcting Most articles lack references. As I looked at the article's history, Nine (singer) has been doing this for a long time, but no user has come to check on this person.

New Pages Patrol newsletter April 2024

[edit]

Hello Dl2000,

New Page Review queue January to March 2024

Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.

Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.

Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.

It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!

2023 Awards

Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. There was one Platinum Award (10,000+ reviews), 2 Gold Awards (5000+ reviews), 6 Silver (2000+), 8 Bronze (1000+), 30 Iron (360+) and 70 more for the 100+ barnstar. Hey man im josh led on redirect reviews by clearing 36,175 of them. For the full details, see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone for their efforts in reviewing!

WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers deployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and then gave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work to Special:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, who wrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.

Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.

Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.

Kate Brooke

[edit]

Hi DL2000,

I am, in fact, Kate Brooke, the subject of the page. While none of the information on the page is factually incorrect, I was, and continue to be, very uncomfortable about the fact that - before any of my career is discussed - there is a description of my parents and I am referred to on the first as Lady Lovegrove, which is a title I would never dream of using and is derived purely from my husband. These are not the most important things about me, and I would prefer them to be removed if at all possible, or at the very least relegated to much lower down the entry. I mentioned this to a friend in New York, recognising that I certainly couldn't make any edits without violating Wikipedia's editorial rules, and he obviously made the changes.

Subsequently, I think that you have reversed the changes. I completely understand the reasons for you doing so, and really appreciate the efforts of administrators and editors like you in keeping Wikipedia as reliable and informative as it is. But on this occasion, I would really hope that you would agree to allowing for the description of me not to start off with irrelevant, and to some no doubt off-putting detail about me and what I do.

I am a novice when it comes to editing Wikipedia, so I am not quite sure what the next step is. Is it to allow my friend in New York to make the changes again and leave them as they are? I'd really appreciate your perspective and help.

Looking forward to hearing from you, and all the best,

Kate KCB2024 (talk) 11:50, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Article for Sam Feldman

[edit]

Hi Dl2000, I work for Canadian music executive Sam Feldman, and I'm trying to create a Wikipedia article for him. I see that you are part of WP:WikiProject Canadian music, and I'm hoping that you will take a look at the draft I have posted here. Would you consider moving it to main space?

Thank you, Sarah for SF (talk) 20:00, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Edit on "MCYM"

[edit]

TYSM for your edits. You put a template that states "This article contains content that is written like an advertisement.", could you elaborate on which sections should be changed? ModlordD (talk) 00:31, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Took a more detailed review - the main issue seems to be unreferenced and outdated content, so that has been cleaned up. Remaining references are mostly from general church sources i.e. primary sources (see WP:PSTS for further info). Therefore primary source template is now indicated in place of the advertisement tag. Vandalism request protection on the page

[edit]

Hello @Dl2000 thank you in first for your great work in the community. Since you have always cleaned and modified the page with great care often, I wanted to ask you for the possibility and help of having more control authority and a general cleaning of the page of the supermodel Fabio Mancini. Because it is often vandalised unnecessarily. Thank you in advance for your wonderful work 109.52.151.46 (talk) 06:21, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Shamsul Haque (Mymensingh politician) (bnwiki) and Shamsul Huda (Mymensingh politician) (bnwiki) are two different people. Some editor mixed them into one article. I tried to fix that but you just revert that. Anyway, this was the initial version and it was correct. আফতাবুজ্জামান (talk) 01:13, 2 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

More or less fixed it to the version you indicated, but it's going to need more sources, especially non deadlink ones. Dl2000 (talk) 01:25, 2 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Removing copyvio

[edit]

Hi there, when you remove copyvio from an article, please make sure you request WP:REVDEL so that the infringing material isn't left in the page history. If you don't want to do that yourself or it's too complicated, you can always post it at WP:CP. Thanks. -- asilvering (talk) 16:13, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

sources exist

[edit]

Hi, thanks for your additions to the stub article I had created. I was surprised to see a "sources exist" template. I havent seen it before. It seems to say that "an editor" has looked at the sources and decided that there is sufficient for notability. Now as I see it someone had already made that judgement before they created the article (me) and sufficient? of those were already in the refs list. I do use the "under construction" template....would it help if I added the "sources" template too? Its seems implicit but I may be missing something. cheers Victuallers (talk) 08:44, 3 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
