regarding edits to article India

Hi Gaurav, Im like many other users trying to make Indian articles better and informative just as many other articles of other nations are. I felt that India article lacked detailed information and expressiveness. Any problem we can sort it out and discuss. Looking forward to hearing frm u. Cephas 405 (talk) 15:59, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Hungryalism/Hungry Generation

Please try to understand that the Hungryalist movement in Bengali literature has become an important subject for researchers. But they are unable to get material except for from Little Magazine Library at Kolkata. Your understanding of Bengali literature should not be intervened by wiki guidelines. Only a few of the participants of the movement are alive who are accessible, and it is of utmost importance to bring all records to the notice of academic and non-academic researchers by linking all webpages. Hi nice ad! BTW, I feel the recent user:Save humanity and user:Infraud issues are not connected, just a co-incidence that they happened around the same time and somehow they got associated with you. Don't worry...these things happen on WP, as you must be aware. Fuhget them! Bhaad mein jane de! BTW you can now proudly put a Userbox displaying that your userpage has been vandalized once...sadly I haven't been so lucky (with my second stint as KnowledgeHegemonyPart2)...though my userpage was vandalised one when I was user:KnowledgeHegemony...Also like Tinu asked are you coming up with a new newsletter? --KnowledgeHegemonyPart2 16:41, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Citations on the Mumbai page

I notice some citiation tags you've added to the Mumbai page. I would suggest that references to commonly known information that have their own articles not be tagged with the citation needed tag. It would be an overkill to tag each and every sentence, and would make reading difficult. So for example, that BCCI is headquartered in Mumbai, or that XYZ sprotsmen hail from Mumbai need no cite tags. Instead these be cited in the main article. Re: July Newsletter

Hello Gppande! I sincerely apologize for being away from Wikipedia. I'd been quite busy over the past week and hence could hardly spend any time on my wiktivities. However, it was good to see that you do a great job with the next draft. I'll wait for the last two days before filling up the entries and interesting tidbits for the next newsletter. I'm sure we'll do this once in a month. Thanks to Tinucherian, who is quite enthusiastic with supporting the delivery tasks. Just one thought: For the DYKs, as I had initially thought, I feel that we could have 1-3 DYKs from the newest WP:India articles. I say 1-3 because it can vary according to the required formatting. Btw, wasn't that one excellent trust vote yesterday? Do you support the N-deal? Cheers! Mspraveen (talk) 15:59, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Need focused locator maps for states

Hi, Some of the state locator maps are not focusing on the state but rather trying to the whole region. For example, Manipur and other North-East states and Sikkim etc. For Assam, I guess it is fine. The present map does not help much while trying to locate a town in say, Manipur. Can you please change the maps so that they are zoomed in, focusing on the state rather than the whole region? For example, Goa/Bihar maps are focused on the state. Thanks. --GDibyendu (talk) 07:33, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

ITN

The recognition templates have been severely underused, and I try to hand them out as many as I can. Article talk pages are first on my priority list, and some articles currently on ITN don't have a tag. Otherwise, I don't see why you can't give yourself a recognition tag if you honestly did some work on the article worthy of recognition. I keep a personal count (see my userpage), and I probably haven't received a recognition tag for several of them. Happy editing, SpencerT♦C 02:11, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

October 2008

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on 2008–2011 Icelandic financial crisis. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. ~Ttony21(talk, contribs) 16:19, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

I regret to inform you that you've been blocked from editing because of your edit warring. If you wish to contest this block, please add {{unblock|your reason here}} to your talk page. Heimstern Läufer (talk) 11:42, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
In response to your unblock request, you reverted several users, not just one Icelandic admin. Of course, I'll leave this up for another admin to read and decide on. Heimstern Läufer (talk) 11:55, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
I agree, but I always invited them to talkpage to discuss. I left 3 hints to people who were reverting to the news item I was trying to add. I left section on talk page, I added Template:Discuss in section on the main page, I left hidden comment on the top of the section. People kept ignoring all 3 messages and were deleting the section. In case of Icelandic admin, I left him message on his talk page and still got no reply from him. Second time he did the same and left another message. I replied to all his messages promptly. I just now checked the history of the page and he has reverted my edits more than thrice. I done enough to bring people to talk and discuss. Edit summary shows the same. I never want to go to edit war. I want to stop it. But unfortunately I seem to be the one who is getting blocked. Above all, I am adding only genuine matter to the article. This is really no justice. --gppande «talk» 12:02, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

see Talk:2008_Icelandic_financial_crisis#Ebay_Auction Other users have agreed to my arguments. I gave sufficient times - User:meco also seem agreed after discussion. However, one Icelandic admin seems to be too personal with the argument and so without giving me chance has been doing undo. Infact he never presented any replies to the questions I posted and has been enforcing personal opinion. I protest this block in strongest word.

Decline reason:

You do appear to have violated WP:3RR in that article. There doesn't seem to be consensus yet on the talk page. I can't tell from reading your desired edit... you do understand that Iceland isn't really up for sale, don't you? — FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 11:58, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I know Iceland is not up for sale. Please read to the bottom. Check the change in heading done by user:meco. Initially he was against but latter did changes to the title which he provided with good reason. I accepted to that. There are others on talk page which accept that the news item should go to the article. And if 3RR rule is to be so strictly adhered to then admin User:Haukurth should be blocked. He too reverted me thrice. I don't want anyone to be blocked including me. Just trying to put my argument. This is no justice. I have given sufficient arguments, time, messages not to revert, edit summary showing not to do undo but first discuss. Three messages should be enough for person to come to talk page. Infact, Icelandic admin got 2 personal messages on his talk page to which he never replied. --gppande «talk» 12:08, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

It's good that you invited other users to discuss. However, that doesn't automatically mean that you get to have your desired edits made. You are blocked for 3RR, not for the content of your edits. However, I want you to know that I agree with those editors who say that this piece of information is trivial. One person's joke of putting Iceland up for sale on eBay might be good for a few funny news articles, but it is not an important moment in Iceland's history, and six months from now, it will not matter. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 12:14, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

See-I never wanted to get into edit war. I wanted to stop it. But unfortunately I seem to be the one who is getting blocked. I always invited people on talkpage to discuss. I left 3 hints to people who were reverting to the news item I was trying to add. I always invited them to talkpage to discuss. I left messages -

  • section on talk page
  • Template:Discuss in section on the main page
  • hidden comment on the top of the section asking to read talkpage.

People kept ignoring all 3 messages and were deleting the section. In case of admin User:Haukurth, I left him message on his talk page and still got no reply from him. He kept reverting my edits. I replied to all his personal opinion arguments on talkpage promptly. There have always been popular media section in current articles. Also, check the change in heading done by user:meco. Initially he was against (on talkpage) but latter did changes to the title which he provided with good reason. I accepted to that. There are others on talk page which accept that the news item should go to the article. I accepted other's views when they explained. But some seem to blindly follow what they feel right without discussion. I have given sufficient arguments, time, messages not to revert, edit summary showing not to do undo but first discuss. Three messages should be enough for person to come to talk page. Infact, Icelandic admin got 2 personal messages on his talk page still no reply.--gppande «talk» 12:31, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

I did not think it would be constructive to reply to your attacks on me on my talk page. That's why I haven't done so. Haukur (talk) 12:40, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

How about replying to talk page? You seem not interested in discussion on matter you hate to agree. Same seems to be done for blocking. Block without second notice. --gppande «talk» 13:28, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
I've made many comments on the talk page, including replies to you. Haukur (talk) 13:30, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Let me list down your replies on talk page -
  • Would you please stop adding this trivial joke? Haukur (talk) 16:05, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
  • It's a trivial joke, it doesn't describe anything real and it doesn't belong here. Haukur (talk) 16:10, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
  • The news media regularly reports on trivialities which are of no interest to an encyclopedia. Haukur (talk) 20:19, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
  • As I said above I wouldn't want this at the eBay article either. Haukur (talk) 09:47, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
  • I was merely pointing out that there is no contradiction in my views. Haukur (talk) 10:31, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

Where did you reply to the points I raised??? Everytime you described your mind. You never went into a discussion like other people and tried to reach an agreement. You were enforcing your views each time you reverted my edit without any prior notice or line. Let me clarify. I have a great respect for Iceland and I am not putting this new item to offend anyone. Infact, I wrote a DYK India-Iceland relations. It's just that people started reverting the additions mindlessly made me take up this course. Present some reasons - not opinions. --gppande «talk» 13:42, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

Look, you've put this into the article 11 times and been reverted by four different editors. This has been your only contribution to the article. And yet you're accusing me of "enforcing my views". For reference, you haven't quoted all my comments about this. Haukur (talk) 13:51, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Oh yes, I forgot to mention one more of your opinion You've already put it into EBay#Unusual_sale_items - isn't that enough? I would personally prefer not having it in any article. The media is full of silly stories which we don't repeat. Haukur (talk) 08:50, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Out of that 11 times you have counted, 2 users have already agreed to keep it. Infact, now I am gone but, other users are expanding the section. See, I am blocked but other people are adding to the section. This is really abuse of power. Clear indication that this is not a block in good faith. --gppande «talk» 13:55, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
You do realize that I didn't block you? Haukur (talk) 14:01, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Sorry, I know that you didn't block me but your like minded admins. I forgot to type the name and one who rejected the appeal. Anyways, do you have answers to my points? Do you still intend to go on removing the section from the page? Do you intend to block those who would expand it? --gppande «talk» 14:09, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Wikipedia is not the news, and tries to make the material in an article be material that is of lasting importance. Would you be willing to agree to wait three months before restoring this paragraph? If this is still important three months from now, you could make a stronger claim that this information is of lasting importance. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 14:22, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Agreed, I would definitely wait that long. No problems. I won't touch the main article other than talk page. Now (since you were one of participating admin), can you explain the reason behind I being blocked for 3RR (considering others are adding to that very section) while Haukur who also reverted thrice WITHOUT REASON? Why I am targeted here? Why there is no justice? What separates me and him (other than the case that I invite discussion and he does what he wants?) --gppande «talk» 14:31, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Questions like 'where is there no justice?' are outside the scope of my position as Wikipedia administrator, and should be directed to a philosopher. :) I responded to your request for an unblock. I looked to see if you had violated 3RR, and you had. So I declined. It really is that simple. There's no conspiracy against you, or at least, if there is, I haven't been invited to join it. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 14:33, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Agreed and I am not accusing any conspiracy theory. I understand you took decision based on the fact presented to you. But now, going through this discussion and seeing the changes/expansion done by others on the section (for which I am blocked) do you think my action were ill-intended? My point is, look at facts - from all angle. Understand why I violated 3RR? Edit's from others will provide you the answers. --gppande «talk» 14:42, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
You seem like such a reasonable guy that I hate to disappoint you, but, no. I don't understand what you saw in this bit of news that seemed important to include in an encyclopedia article about the financial crisis. I don't understand why you thought that it wasn't trivial. And I don't get how it became so important to you that it was worth edit-warring over. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 16:17, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

I think you are right GP. That is regionalism and not nationalism. They do not want a seperate nation as of now. But I still have to research on the differences between nationalism and regionalism. So, a Weak delete from my side as of now. Hope it helps the process. Thanks, KensplanetTalkContributions 16:22, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

No problem. I've only got ~4 credits even though I updated/nominated 27 articles! It's sort of disappointing that I'm the only one that really pays attention to this recognition (Tone's gottn quite better, though), but if you didn't get well-deserved recognition, just leave a note on my talk page, even if I didn't post your item. I'm an admin now, and I can update the template, so if you also need something to be put up, you can let me know. Best regards, SpencerT♦C 11:43, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
I see for the Sachin Tendulkar, you need a posting admin. You can always leave a little note on my talk page asking me to check ITN/C, because sometimes I may be doing stuff elsewhere on wikipedia and just don't see it. Thanks, SpencerT♦C 13:55, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
I can't see any reason for the delay in adding Sachin's world record feat? This is really annoying! --KnowledgeHegemonyPart2 15:29, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
Sorry, I was gone, and Tone posted it. Thanks for clarifying. I wasn't quite sure if the article was updated, and I couldn't see a clear wording suggestion. I'll try to do better next time. SpencerT♦C 01:41, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

Re:Ayesha Takia

Hello there!!!!

In My POV, The text in the reference section was obscene and disrespectful. You can check that here. According to me, a biography of living people should not contain such elements. It is a speculative claim, which was verified with a gossip column. WP:BLP says Material about living persons must be sourced very carefully. Without reliable third-party sources, it may include original research and unverifiable statements, and could lead to libel claims.

However, if you do not agree with me then you may restore the previous version.

happy Editing!!!!

Admins

I'm disappointed with the comment you made here as it is not constructive, and can constitute an assumption of bad faith. While I can appreciate why you may hold such a view, I don't think it's particularly appropriate for the venue in which you've said it.

I think a lot of administrators will not be pleased that those sorts of aspersions are being cast when each individual administrator acts on their own judgement, and it could be considered offensive. I know a very good admin Ganeshk whose heavily involved in WikiProject India, who does apologize on the rare occasions he stuffs up. He's one of the biggest assets we have at WikiProject India and I don't think he'll find that very pleasant to read at all. I hope you reconsider either refactoring or removing the comment - perhaps if an ANI is opened, you can post a generalization like that there, so administrators can respond to a general comment that is made about them. Regards, Ncmvocalist (talk) 15:21, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

Heh, thanks for understanding. You probably have some legitimate concerns that they may be able to answer better, but certainly, no problem with your response on my talk page. :) I've appreciated the comments you've made at the noticeboard - they've often been very helpful and of a good standard, so that's probably why I was a little disappointed when I read it. Anyway, cheers again ;) Ncmvocalist (talk) 16:05, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

Google Maps

Hey, I just saw a post on Nvvchar's page on Google maps. Google maps are not free. You can use NASA World Wind maps as an alternative. =Nichalp «Talk»= 18:28, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

Inre the AFD, The film has been made. You can watch the bloopers and download the music. I found it on Google. Definitely not WP:Crystal. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 03:59, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

MNS

Likes your edits on the elected reps. I think it would be good on all part pages. (esp. the smaller parties)

I know it's a lot of work for you along, but you can put it up on the India discussion page for others to help in. Lihaas (talk) 04:37, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi! I guess this is a false alarm!

Are you going to cut down on your edits? No ways it just me getting a little hyper!! But ... if that's actually the case--please don't! The block was crap! Don't let it affect your WP contribs. You have been an excellent editor and your contributions are top-notch. The block was needless and don't think about it...admins get carried away at times.. You have really made a change to Wikipedia...especially WP India ... WP India never had an editor who contributed so meticulously to WP:ITN. Regards, --KnowledgeHegemonyPart2 17:18, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Wow...a great relief! Hahaha! --KnowledgeHegemonyPart2 15:51, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
