Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Indian cricket team in England in 1971, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages John Snow, Phil Sharpe and Keith Wilkinson (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

[edit]

Greetings Tintin1107. I notice that you've been visiting Spain national football team recently and, although I see that cricket is very much your game, I was wondering if you were in a position to make sure that the Spain page is as accurate as possible. As you may have noticed, the page is vandalised regularly, and while I've been able to detect & revert the most blatant cases, it's not a subject that I know much about, so I can't judge if there are any other serious things that need changing. Cheers! --Technopat (talk) 08:49, 24 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for reply. Yep, that's the trouble with pages not having references. Right now, only one player in the team – the most recent addition, I think – has a reference. So while I'm very much tempted to remove all content without RS, practical politics says otherwise... Regards,--Technopat (talk) 05:50, 25 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Keki Tarapore (coach)

[edit]

Hello Tintin1107,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Keki Tarapore (coach) for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Ad Orientem (talk) 04:33, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tintin1107, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled right to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the patroller right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. Perera

[edit]

Hello Tintin. Hope you are well. This is to answer your question at WT:CRIC.

For what it's worth, I've been told by my ACS contact that their handbook about SL cricketers was published, limited edition as always, in 2005. I understand a new edition is proposed but no idea if or when it may be published. The published edition was apparently called "Sri Lankan Cricketers" and was complementary to other handbooks called "First-class cricket matches played in Sri Lanka" (this was published in 1987 when SL was still a new full ICC member) and an annual series called "Sri Lanka first-class matches in ccyy" which covered many years through the 1990s and 2000s. I'm told that the player handbook confirms Perera's name (Suresh) and date of birth (5 June 1970), plus the fact that he was an off spinner and otherwise as per CA and CI. It does not say if he was RHB or LHB. I haven't seen this myself but we only need to know a source exists, I believe, so that is sufficient. My contact does not have the guide himself so it is third-hand information. I might add that they have checked the scorecard information in CA and CI against their own versions and they are verified.

I refuse to touch the article again because I have only come back to help with CRIN and NCRIC. I object very strongly indeed to the disgusting attitude of Anselm who jumped in on a reasonable question about the ACS and accused me of fabricating the information, which I was trying to obtain in response to the excellent suggestion raised by Dweller at WT:CRIC. Anselm and his sidekick Reyk are guilty of blatant bad faith but, as always on this site, they get away with it. I will not stand for that any longer so I have resigned and have already started using other media including my blog for writing about cricket. As I say, I will help with CRIN and NCRIC, but that is all.

If you wish to update Perera's article, then please go ahead. The article needs to be renamed as well, btw, and moved perhaps to Suresh Perera (cricketer, born 1970) to disambiguate him from the Test player of the same name. All the best for 2016. Provided resources are the sole property of the beneficiaries and should be used for the betterment of the movement.

If you're an active Wikimedian, and interested to receive support from this project, please apply. It will take around 10 minutes of your time, and will ask descriptive questions about your contribution to Indic Wikimedia projects.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Harry Blacklidge, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Amara (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 14:06, 24 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Caught by an open proxy block but this host or IP is not an open proxy. My IP address is 49.204.142.18. This appears to be the IP of Beam Telecom "an ACT Group company, providing high speed broadband internet services". ACT is my ISP and one of the most popular broadband providers in India Tintin 11:40, 12 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

Confirmed P2P proxy. However, as you are a long-term editor in good standing, I have granted you WP:IPBE for one year. You should no longer be impacted by the games your ISP plays, at least for the next year (and you can apply for an extension after then). Happy editing! Address range block

[edit]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Tintin1107 (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

Request for address range block exemption because the IP used to edit from work appears to part of a banned block

Decline reason:

I'm pretty sure the range you're referring to doesn't affect registered accounts like yours. What message do you see when you try to edit something other than this talk page? --jpgordon𝄢𝄆𝄐𝄇 05:58, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The error message is "You do not have permission to edit this page, for the following reason: This IP address has been blocked from editing Wikipedia.

...

(lists the /19 address range that is blocked till 2026)

The IP address that you are currently using has been blocked because it is believed to be a web host provider. To prevent abuse, web hosts may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. You will not be able to edit Wikipedia using a web host provider because it hides your IP address, much like a proxy or VPN."

Having said this, I suspect something is going on on this side also. Now I am getting http 403 error while adding anything in the user talk. So forced to type this from the mobile. Tintin 06:22, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

My publicly visible ip resolves to "symantec endpoint protection" which apparently is a security software suite. So I guess my employer is running it and this may be the cause for the 403 error. In which case whitelisting from your side also won't help. Tintin 06:31, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Out or Not out?

[edit]

Hi. Just a thought. I'd intentionally retained the reference you've just deleted for Wisden Cricketers' Almanack, because whilst the exact phrase "Bible of cricket" isn't used, the source is much earlier than the one which does use that precise wording (and it also illustrates a possible variation readers might encounter). Don't you think it would be better to reinstate it? (Edwin of Northumbria (talk) 05:03, 19 May 2024 (UTC))[reply]

Thanks. Odd name though (not as bad as "Away", perhaps). Holy grail would be "bible" reference from 1800s, but there was more competition from other publications then. Pity the first one I've been able to find is from an Aussie newspaper (which makes me wonder if there wasn't just a slight hint of sarcasm involved). Request reason:

Caught by an open proxy block but this host or IP is not an open proxy. My IP address comes under 49.204.140.0/22. This belongs to ACT, one of biggest service providers in India, which seems to be regularly blacklisted for being an open proxy.
