javascript

Hello Wizardman, would you mind crediting me for User:Wizardman/md.js? I created this javascript before eventually deleting it. A short comment on that page, before the code starts, would suffice. Thanks, Outriggr (talk) 03:47, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi - you could put something like

// Script by User:Outriggr (see deleted User:Outriggr/metadatatest.js)

on the first line. The "//" makes it a comment. Purely a housekeeping measure, I think. :) Outriggr (talk) 04:25, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Thank you. You shouldn't need the <code> tags in there, but whatever works. Outriggr (talk) 05:09, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Jermain Taylor

Thank you for reviewing the Jermain Taylor article, I was wondering why you removed the flag from the infobox? Showtime2009 (talk) 17:40, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

But there are other articles like Bernard Hopkins and Sugar Ray Leonard as well as others that have flags in their infobox. Should I go and try removing all of them? Showtime2009 (talk) 21:41, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, but in this particular case the flags are being used to represent a "nationality" field, which falls in line with WP:FLAG's appropiate use. Showtime2009 (talk) 17:17, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

GA Review

I enjoyed working with you on the Youkilis GA review. If you have time/interest in another, I've listed Ian Kinsler for a GA review. I tried to anticipate your comments (or those of another reviewer) from my experience working with you on Youkilis, and believe that this may already be GA-level ... but leave it for you or another reviewer to decide. Thank you.--Epeefleche (talk) 07:48, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

Trying to get Kerri Hoskins bio to good status and I have a news article which adds a little more to it but I don't know how to start. Sincerely Subzerosmokerain (talk) 02:41, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

Well a little of both. I have found this article:

http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=xBMVAAAAIBAJ&sjid=cAMEAAAAIBAJ&pg=5991,1464188&dq=mortal+kombat and I don't know how to cite it.

I also don't really know how to begin adding to the article without making seem irrelavent. Sincerely Subzerosmokerain (talk) 02:45, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

New question. A fellow forum member discovered her myspace. Would that be an appropriate resource for the article? It doesn't have any worthwile information but it is her page nonetheless. Sincerely Subzerosmokerain (talk) 23:03, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Cato June size

Yes that article is 28KB of readable prose and has an abundance of references. I have never heard of over referencing as a problem. Is there a policy in this regard?--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 20:20, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

Between her footnotes and refs, Hillary Rodham Clinton probably has about 100KB of stuff. At GAR there was consensus not to restrict the size of her article.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 22:50, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
Jack Kemp may have 100KB of refs.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 22:52, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
Each single ref at June's is from newsbank and is twice as many characters as most refs. I think that is the problem. Actually, the one sentence that has 5 refs is probably the most controversial, since it is a substantiation of an opinion on whether his recrutiing class was the best. Maybe only 2 or 3 are necessary, but I would not reduce that to 1.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 23:00, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
Good work with the redundant source removal.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 18:59, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
One thought. I mentioned on my talk page that often times, I cite both newspapers from a two newpaper town on some facts when I am really ambitious. Think about removing items sourced by two Indiana or two Florida newspapers.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 02:34, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

The serious actions of others

It concerns me to see such heavy actions being proposed against me while sanctions against others in this matter don't even seem to be under remote consideration from your part.

20 months of disruptiv editing of that article and I!!!! am supposed to be banned for something? I made a tough call do you really think that it is enjoyable or nice to dive into a can of worm like that? It most certainly aint but I am not one to put his tail in between his legs and run away so I have attempted to deal with the matter.

Scjessey has edited the article disruptivly for 20 months, it is he that you should be sanctioning not me.

Sarekofvulcan misused his admin powers in his pursuit to make the article look more favorable for his beloved webhost.

These matters they don't compare in any way to anything I am supposed to be guilty of, throwing a ban hammer on me without touching these users is a double standard.--194x144x90x118 (talk) 21:23, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

William H. Young is the former president of the NALC. He didn't exactly reinvent city delivery while he was there, and they've since elected a new president. This article is useless, but I don't know how to recommend articles for deletion.--Johnny Spasm (talk) 09:51, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

See WP:AFD, but just because he's no longer the president of the union does not mean the article is "useless".  Frank  |  talk  17:00, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

Birth/death dates in bio articles

OK, I'm getting very confused by something, and maybe you can help here. I noticed you added birth and death dates to the lede of Andy Bruckmiller. In the past, I have put those in the lede, only to have them deleted by another editor, saying that they're unnecessary in the lede due to their presence in the infobox. I can't seem to find a definitive policy/guideline on this. Is there something I'm missing? -Dewelar (talk) 16:38, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

Jeffrey Jared

Hello,

I disagree with the decision

Athletes criterion

1. People who have competed at the fully professional level of a sport, or a competition of equivalent standing in a non-league sport such as swimming, golf or tennis.[8] 2. People who have competed at the highest amateur level of a sport, usually considered to mean the Olympic Games or World Championships.

1. He played already in the first team

See http://www.clubbrugge.be/nl/nieuws/bericht/3649/Club-scoort-vier-keer-in-Torhout

OK it is in Dutch but if you would scroll down you will see who played then & also who scored (one goal by jeffrey)

Club: De Vlieger – Vermeulen (60’ Ciman), De Mets, Alcaraz (60’ Evens), Klukowski – Jeffrey (70’ Van Ruyskensvelde), Clement, Leko (70’ Blondel), Meeus (70’ Dirar) – Salou (80’ Capon), Djokic (80’ Chavez). Doelpunten: 9’ Djokic (0-1), 18’ Salou (0-2), 42’ Jeffrey (0-3), 51’ Alcaraz (0-4).

2. In 2007 he played for the USA in the FIFA U-17 World Cup Source: http://www.ussoccer.com/News/Other/2009/03/11-Questions-With-Jared-Jeffrey.aspx

This year he will play in the -20 youth world in Egypt from 26 September until 16 October 2009 Source: http://www.ussoccer.com/Tournaments/FIFA-Under-20-World-Cup/2009-FIFA-Under-20-World-Cup/Roster.aspx http://www.clubbrugge.be/en/nieuws/bericht/4998/Jared-Jeffrey-selected-by-US-for-U-World-Cup

So he matches both criterions

Regards,

Joris

Please forgive me if this is out-of-place. I'm unfamiliar with Wiki protocols. I wish to nominate the page entitled Christine Nussey for reconsideration for inclusion. I think it's exceptionally notable to perhaps be the youngest female mayor in Canadian history. Also, I don't see any merge with the Rose Blanche-Harbour le Cou page. More sources for this notable figure are potentially forthcoming, including the following source: http://www.cbc.ca/radionoonnl/podcasts.html (simply search for "Nussey" and you can listen to the radio interview in MP3 format -- http://podcast.cbc.ca/mp3/nlradionoon_20090929_20849.mp3). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Validhawk (talkcontribs) 22:24, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

Replace_this_image_female.svg‎ / Replace_this_image_male.svg‎

Hiya! Are these images official deprecated on WP and, if so, could you please let me know the link for reference since I can't find that on a quick scan through. Many thanks, David. Harami2000 (talk) 19:19, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

I too would like to discuss this image. I have seen the WP:CENT discussion referred to at File:Replace this image male.svg; I notice that you are one of the editors that argued for them to be removed entirely. As stated quite plainly in the Summary section, there was (even then) "not yet consensus to remove them entirely," so I'm not entirely sure why you appear to be citing it here as consensus when it appears not to be. Furthermore, I'd think that were the consensus indeed truly to remove these images, they would likely have been simply deleted. I do not wish to edit war with you; I'd ask that you please replace the image. GlassCobra 13:27, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
I went ahead and replaced the image, since you haven't responded here and it's been a few days. GlassCobra 13:24, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
I didn't see the comment(s) you left until now, so i'll double check. though since it's been rv'd i'll just forget about it and move on. Wizardman 13:11, 27 October 2009 (UTC)

A punishment for befitting of the crime

Apologies for troubling you. I will try and keep this short as I am sure you are very busy. This topic ban makes no sense. This dispute is not about article content but is beyond that but is personal and is occuring on user talk pages, character assassinating people, playing games and in my case I admit getting distressed, losing my cool and personalising. Surely a more logical approach would be to pass a motion stating, any personalising of disputes, disruption of the editing environment or abuse of editors time will result in a block of up to one week, extended to a topic ban or a block of 3 months or something after several violations. I have from the outset practically begged the arbcom to pass motions to resolve disruptive behaviour, I still feel this is the right approach. To propose a topic ban when for the first time myself and scuro are making progress and when the recent dispute is not even about article content is throwing the baby out with the bath water and may not even be effective judging by some ongoing drama that I am not involved in. I could fully accept a motion which was to me likely to be effective and is aimed at addressing the actual violations. A topic ban seems like taking an anthill out with a shotgun. No disrespect intended, I hope you have a good day.--Literaturegeek | T@1k? 13:19, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

My suggested proposal should have included the addition of a voluntary topic ban turned into an enforced one if I violate it.--Literaturegeek | T@1k? 14:08, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Block of 210.49.251.226

Hi, i noticed you were the last admin to block IP 210.49.251.226, a known sock-IP shown by checkuser. He has returned to List of science fiction themes to revert to a non-consensus version, and also to WWE Hall of Fame, but with a new IP: 220.237.74.225. He is pretending to not be user:AKR619 (the sockmaster), but the editing patter is obvious. His edits to these article already earned him more than one indefinate block in the past, and since the indef, his IP was warned and blocked a few times, so seems incorrigible.

Any attention you could give here would be great. I think it is so obivous that a checkuser is not needed, but i have never requested one before - I left a msg at the lack checkuser. ThanksYobMod 11:09, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the quick action! The block flushed out another sock account to continue the reverting. I started an SPI this time to make it official (here), as it looks like this is going to keep happening. Thanks again.YobMod 14:02, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
