A great British mini-series that emanates exactly what I like about British production – not overused and original life story that is kind of ordinary at the same time as well and has an unobtrusive sense of humor. Moreover the British have a gift to show life stories in a naive form. That is what they do and when it is done well it is really a pleasure to watch. And what’s more, this 3 episode long series not only tells a story about a millionaire but with its premise reaches also behind the scenes of this popular TV show which was really interesting for me. Overall I have to say that even though it had 3 episodes there wasn’t one boring moment for me. Quite the opposite, I learned quite a few things and had fun as well. So why shouldn’t something this good get 5-star rating? (25/08/2020)

A solid affair with very good performances and a fine narrative structure. It's marred by the explicitly TV filming and staging of some scenes, and in the excellent last part by moments when Frears' brain takes a cabaret vacation. Otherwise, it’s a film that one devours. (01/09/2020)

I really like these miniseries. For someone who grew up watching Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? competition, it is almost like a dream come true. I have heard more stories from abroad, but I did not know about this one and I was very pleased with the presentation. After the first twenty minutes, I wanted to turn it off because I couldn't get used to the actors, but in the end, I definitely did not regret it, and the second part is an absolute blast that I would recommend to everyone. Especially Michael Sheen and Matthew Macfadyen absolutely rule...9/10 (31/10/2020)

This miniseries has made me into a juror and, it must be said, quite a clueless juror. The first episode was like an indictment, the second like a reconstruction of the case that supported the indictment, and the third like a defense that rather deftly undermined or even refuted what I saw... I was wild about everything I saw, and I wondered whether I was actually just rooting for the crooks. Well-acted crooks, by the way,since the casting of all the roles is excellent; apart from the performances of Charles and Diana, the one that sticks in your mind is the impeccable Michael Sheen as Chris Tarrant. An absolutely fantastic series about a much-discussed (but still unknown to many) scam in Who Wants to be a Millionaire that ticks all the boxes a proper series should. Just the right amount of running time and dialogue, excellent storytelling style, music, occasional humour and most importantly a brilliant presentation that combines reality along with the cinematic experience. In the third episode (the trial) the tension could be cut with a knife and the wait for the final verdict was endless. Huge thumbs up, this is what the British are good at and I'm glad that such an attractive topic is handled so well. (24/09/2020)
