I’m not sure whose idea it was to cast Kevin Hart in a film with such a serious topic, but his goofy, slightly naive approach to acting did lighten the tone a bit. In a way, that’s both the film's strength and its weakness. Ultimately, though, Hart’s performance is what made Fatherhood a three-star watch for me. It’s exactly the kind of lighthearted dramedy you’d expect for this type of subject matter — nothing more, nothing less. ()
