This documentary examines the effect of the American evangelical movement in Uganda and its impact on contemporary African culture and values. In an effort to transform poor and vulnerable African societies in its own image, modern-day missionaries use bigoted interpretations of biblical laws. The blind fight against "sexual immorality" and otherness thus contributes to the systemic persecution of gays and lesbians. The film reveals the shocking connection between the enforcement of homophobic legislation and the lobbying of American evangelicals in Uganda's Parliament. According to the discrimination law, which was approved by the House in December 2013, gays and lesbians in Uganda can face life imprisonment and sometimes even the death penalty. (One World)
