The Plucky Squire All Art Scrolls Guide

The Plucky Squire All Art Scrolls Guide

The Plucky Squire is the adorable platforming/adventure title by All Possible Futures and published by Devolver Digital. This highly anticipated title features a slew of collectibles that you'll be able to get, and all of them give you the capability to see some of the artwork that led to this adorable title! In this article, we're going to tell you how to find all 50 of them in order. I am going to split this article into individual Chapters, to ensure that you can follow along best you can.

One note before we get started, however, as a general tip for this entire guide: whenever Martina is selling Art Scrolls, buy them immediately. While hoarding your light bulbs might be incredibly tempting, her Art Scrolls are unique per Chapter, which means that when you fail to buy one and buy it in the next Chapter, it'll be the one exclusively for that world. I'm still going to separate them in the order of acquisition, but as a rule of thumb, just buy her scrolls first before you get overzealous with upgrades! You'll need a total of 200 light bulbs to buy all of Martina's Art Scrolls.

And right before we start, there is one more disclaimer I feel I must mention: the way The Plucky Squire is built means that once you miss out on a scroll, there is a likelihood that you won't be able to return to it. The auto-save system only keeps very few of the saves handy. That said, you can use the Chapter Replay to get the Art Scrolls that you miss, even if the game would lead you to think otherwise by saying it won't affect your save file. It's still a bother, as there is no way to skip achievements, but at least you can get whatever you might have missed out on.

Chapter One — Some Serious Beeswax

Art Scrolls one and two.

image 2024 09 17 130138191

Art Scroll One — Concept - Area - Mountains

The first Art Scroll is pretty much unmissable — after you have a fight with the Honey Badger and get cast down from Honey Peak, you will speak to Moonbeard and get Violet to join your team. From there, on the next page, you'll find the Art Scroll about halfway through the area, hidden behind three bushes.

Art Scroll Two — Concept - Boxing Mini-game

To find this Art Scroll, you'll need to head forward just a bit, right after the first word puzzle, to open the gate. Speak to Martina and purchase it for 20 light bulbs.

I'll make a note here to mention that you do not need to be stingy with your light bulbs. Though it would be best to always have at least 20 to pay for whatever Art Scroll you may come across with Martina, they are a randomised and unlimited resource. If you're short, you can restart the game and hit trees for a chance for more light bulbs, giving you the opportunity to buy out anything Martina has at any given moment.

Chapter Two — Tome Tower

Scrolls three to seven.

image 2024 09 17 130221278

Art Scroll Three — Concept - Character: Jot

The first scroll in Chapter Two — Tome Tower is after you climb down the mountain with Thrash. Go past the rolling stones into the next page, and once you arrive at the area with the red-hating bulls, you'll be able to see the Art Scroll hidden in the top-right of the page, right outside of the ruins in a forest surrounded by a tree and bushes.

Art Scroll Four — Concept - Character: Moonbeard

After completing the first puzzle where you'll be affecting the world between the words Forest and Ruins for Topsy's biscuits, you can head out to the next page, where you'll find Martina, who will sell you the fourth scroll, containing Moonbeard's Character Concept for just 20 light bulbs.

Art Scroll Five — Concept - Character: Pip

Immediately after where you can acquire Art Scroll four, when the world goes dark, make a direct turn to the left and hit the lonely, sparkling tree, where the fifth Art Scroll will fall from.

Art Scroll Six — Concept Area - Fairy Forest

After meeting Page, the Bookworm, you'll be able to go into the Impassable Cave, a dark 2D section where you can't see anything. Thankfully, this section has nothing for you to explore, so you can safely ignore it and advance all the way to the end, where you'll find Martina selling the sixth Art Scroll.

Art Scroll Seven — Concept - Area - Candy Land

Two pages after Martina's latest encounter (or one page after the place with the books scattered all across the world), you'll reach a puzzle with words and stacked books. This next Art Scroll is to the far left of the screen, where you'll have to squeeze yourself between some books to be able to make it to it. If you reach the section with words scattered on the ground where Humgrump's complaining about Jot, then you've gone too far.

Chapter Three — Moonbeard

Scrolls eight and nine.

image 2024 09 17 130303636

Art Scroll Eight — First Sketches 5

While you're training with Moonbeard and he asks you to get him something to drink, you'll need to go back to his house. By going back two pages in The Plucky Squire book, you'll arrive at your home destination, where you can see the eighth Art Scroll right behind the top-right-most tree.

Art Scroll Nine — Object Design - Domino (HIGHLY MISSABLE)

This scroll is one of the easiest to miss in the entire game, as Chapter Three — Moonbeard is one of the shortest in the entire game, and the Art Scroll is outside of the areas where the game takes you. You'll need to head on out to explore for it rather than it being part of the path that you take to complete the Chapter.

When you are able to explore outside of the book while under Metamagic training with Moonbeard, you'll be able to find the ninth Art Scroll on the outside world. After leaving the book, parkour your way up the world forward from the book, where you'll find some conveniently placed items that help facilitate your jumps. When you reach the ruler jump, you should be able to climb the coloured block instead, giving you a passageway to jump on the ruler, and just down the path, you'll find the scroll.

Chapter Four — A Treacherous Path

Scrolls 10 to 16.

image 2024 09 17 130339835

Art Scroll 10 — Concept - Area - Haunted

In the fourth chapter, you'll want to proceed until you've completed the Huge Bug word puzzle (trust me, if you don't know what I'm talking about, you will in a second). Right after this puzzle, on the next page, you'll find Martina, selling the 10th Art Scroll for 20 light bulbs. Though, do bear in mind that there is a hidden achievement in the Huge Bug puzzle, if you're going for 100%.

If you do miss it, you can return to the Huge Bug location during the Tiny Lilypad page, right after Martina.

Art Scroll 11 — Concept - Area - Slime Dungeon

After completing the Floatio mini-game, you'll arrive at the day/night puzzle with the singing frogs. Here, you'll want to change it to daytime by using the word from the page behind (the cutscene — it now has a Metamagic portal). Once done, to the left, you can move a block a little upwards in the page into a visible hidden block that hides the word "Solid" that you'll use to complete the puzzle, but it also opens a door to the far left of the page.

At the top of this small island, you'll find a sparkling tree with the 11th Art Scroll.

Art Scroll 12 — Concept - Area - Swamp

Immediately after the previous Art Scroll page, you'll arrive at a 2D section involving a box. The 12th Art Scroll is at the end of these two pages, as you have to reach the top-most button right before the right exit. You'll arrive at an extended bridge that can be brought back with the button, but instead of pressing it with the box, you'll want to jump over it and reach the wall to the far right, where the hidden wall will reveal the scroll.

image 2024 09 17 130556327

Art Scroll 13 — Concept - Area - Skeletown (HIGHLY MISSABLE)

This one takes place after you've begun your official adventure in the outside world. When you're heading to get the bow from the card at the peak, you'll know you can get this one.

Continue forward until you have arrived at the second Minibeard Toy, where you need to move a big golden block to continue your journey upwards. Pull the block out, and behind it, obscured by a massive palette, you'll find it.

Art Scroll 14 — Enemy Ideas 1 (HIGHLY MISSABLE)

During the outside section, after jumping down through the decorative flags and opening the 2D doors to the 3D castle, you'll find the 14th Art Scroll hidden behind the top-right-most wall.

Art Scroll 15 — Enemy Ideas 2

After completing the first mini-game with the Elven Bow and arriving at the snail town, you'll find Martina, where you can buy the 15th Art Scroll for another 20 light bulbs.

image 2024 09 17 130636179

Art Scroll 16 — Enemy Ideas 3

After both Thrash and Violet have been kidnapped by the Big Bug Boss, on the next page, you'll find a single tree glowing. Hit it and you should get the 16th Art Scroll.

Chapter Five — Artia

Scrolls 17 to 22

image 2024 09 17 130719489

Art Scroll 17 - Enemy Ideas 4

Don't panic! If you got Art Scroll 18 and didn't find 17 despite running all around Artia, that is entirely normal — Art Scroll 17 is the last one you get in Artia, despite the fact that it is the first one listed. That is because, after returning all of the pigs to Violet's uncle, he'll reward you with this Art Scroll, making it unmissable.

Art Scroll 18 - Concept - Area - Castle Town

This scroll is accessible immediately upon arriving at Artia — you need to head far left to the left-most green house and go inside, where the scroll will be waiting for you to gather it.

Art Scroll 19 - Concept - Character: Violet

You can get this one at the very start of the chapter by heading up and speaking to Martina. She is right past the waterfall where Mona Lisa is, to the right beside Picasso.

image 2024 09 17 130813409

Art Scroll 20 - Concept - Area - Snow Route (HIGHLY MISSABLE)

Once you've finally left Artia, you'll be able to find this scroll. Head up from The Plucky Squire book into the forest that is behind the giant, blue headphones, and you'll need to jump through the ring of tape. After doing that, you'll find some enemies to defeat and a tube painted with splotches of colours — the 20th Art Scroll is inside of that tube.

Art Scroll 21 - Concept - Area - Volcano (HIGHLY MISSABLE)

While on your way to the dollhouse to get the gloves required to manipulate the book, you'll stumble upon a Toy Minibeard at the base of a ramp; at the top of that ramp is a Rubix cube. Go down to the yellow paint from the cube and jump and roll to the blue paint (it's a tight jump without rolling), and continue down until you reach a wooden building block with googly eyes and jump from here.

The rest of the path is pretty self-explanatory — you'll have to fight against a few enemies, jump up to The Skies of My Dreams novel, and turn right at the top to find the Art Scroll!

image 2024 09 17 130917497

Art Scroll 22 - Concept - Area - Castle

Once you've finally arrived at Artia castle and finished your deeds in the plaza, you should head to explore. In the far back of the castle, going towards the right where the paintings and art are, you'll be able to find the 22nd Art Scroll.

Chapter Six — Very Metal!

Scrolls 23 to 30.

image 2024 09 17 131043549

Art Scroll 23 - Concept - Gameplay - Moles

In the room with the first magnet puzzle, where you need to acquire two magnets to lower the doors, you'll be able to find the Art Scroll in the right path. You'll need to launch yourself through two of the Metamagic stars, where you'll arrive at a tree, which will contain the 23rd Art Scroll.

Art Scroll 24 - Concept - Character: Thrash

Shortly after passing by Krong, two pages over, you'll find Martina, where you need to get a pass for the bunnies to continue. This Art Scroll will cost you 20 light bulbs.

Art Scroll 25 - First Sketches 1

After you've left to find the pass for the rock rabbits, you'll arrive at a cave that is wholly dark. On this first page, you'll need to head to the bottom-right part, where you will be able to squeeze between a few stalagmites to get the 25th Art Scroll. Congratulations! We're now halfway through the achievement.

image 2024 09 17 131135176

Art Scroll 26 - Birth of the Glitchbird (HIGHLY MISSABLE)

This is going to be the first out-of-book Art Scroll of the Chapter. After you've acquired the Zip the jetpack, you can head to the left location to find some vertical platforming obstacles leading up to Zip's father's part. When you arrive relatively high, and you find Toy Minibeard right before a 2D section painted on the wall, use the jetpack to propel yourself to the left, using the tall blocks to give yourself some height. Hit the lonely tree, and the 26th Art Scroll is yours.

Art Scroll 27 — Alt Hero 1 (HIGHLY MISSABLE)

Another one in the 3D section, the 27th Art Scroll can be found on the far right side, where you'll need to light candles in order to appease Jeraldo. You won't really need to finish the puzzle to get this one — instead, all you have to do is go inside of the mug in the 3D version (so not through the Metamagic portal, but instead, use Zip to fly above it and go inside).

And before you do it — no, there isn't anything in the left-most mug!

image 2024 09 17 131249662

Art Scroll 28 — Alt Hero 2 (HIGHLY MISSABLE)

This is the final one of the 3D section, and if you've caught on by now, this one will be at the final part. In the middle of the world, at the very centre and top, you can find the Star Projector where the mini-game takes place. Instead, stay in the 3D area and use Zip to climb to the top, where you'll find the 28th Art Scroll (and the final one for the 3D area in this Chapter).

Art Scroll 29 — Concept - Area - Wizard Lab

During your fight against Gozzy, you'll head into an underground section, where you'll see some footsteps leading to the back of a pillar. If you follow these footsteps, you'll find the 29th Art Scroll!

Art Scroll 30 — Minigame Art - Resotub

Immediately after fighting Gozzy, you will encounter Martina, who will sell you the 30th Art Scroll for just 20 light bulbs!

Chapter Seven — Beach Battle Boogie

Scrolls 31 to 38.

image 2024 09 17 131450103

Art Scroll 31 — Concept - Area - Beach

The first Art Scroll in this entire Chapter is with the first Martina you encounter, so you can safely continue trekking until you have Tumba and advance past the first few puzzles. You'll find her nearly at the beginning of the page (she's pretty much unmissable) andwill sell you the 31st Art Scroll for 20 light bulbs.

Art Scroll 32 — First Sketches 2

This one can be a bit easy to miss if you don't explore around enough. After passing through a wave of Humgrump's Guards and then defeating another two, you'll be reunited with Violet. Here, Tumba will show you a new path to continue forward, and in the top-left section of the part of the page that Tumba reveals, you'll need to dig to find the 32nd sketch.

Art Scroll 33 — Concept - Rap Battle (HIGHLY MISSABLE)

In the 3D section, when you're looking for the Ambers to open the gates, you'll stumble across a mug with a little dinosaur named Uta. Though Uta gives you the Amber, you can continue forward past the mug and you'll find the 33rd Art Scroll there.

image 2024 09 17 131535373

Art Scroll 34 — Concept - Room (HIGHLY MISSABLE)

When you're climbing through the world, after using both Ambers to open the gate, you'll get in the back of a dinosaur named Anni. If you go all the way to the bottom of Anni's legs, you'll find the 34th Art Scroll at their feet.

Art Scroll 35 — Concept - Out of the Book (HIGHLY MISSABLE)

When you've passed past the T-Rex toy, near the Toy Minibeard where you have to go into 2D to get an axe, instead continue forward in 3D. It's a long trek past all of the dinosaurs in the 2D section, but once there, you'll find the 35th Art Scroll tucked in nicely between a tree and a bush.

Warning, though — once you've gone into the 2D section and use the Axe to go berserk, you'll lock all of the Art Scrolls in the 3D section.

image 2024 09 17 131609041

Art Scroll 36 — Model Sheet - Jot

This one is fairly easy to get and unlikely to be missed. When you've acquired the Bomb Stamp and destroyed Humgrump's tanks, there is an additional, fourth explodable metal block that contains the 36th Art Scroll.

Art Scroll 37 — Model Sheet - Thrash

This one is in a hidden wall in the 2D bomb puzzle, where you'll need to use your newly acquired Bomb Stamp to press buttons. At the very end, when you'll be using both a bomb and a crate to be pressing buttons, you'll find it in the very last button, jumping to the left, where it'll reveal the hidden wall and give you the 37th Art Scroll.

Art Scroll 38 — Model Sheet - Violet

This one is immediately after the previous page, where you'll be forced to trek on ahead without the rest of the gang. Instead of using the launch pad to go behind the doors, however, you can use it towards the right into a small island, where you'll find Martina selling the Art Scroll for 20 light bulbs.

Chapter Eight — Clash at the Castle

Scrolls 38 to 41.

image 2024 09 17 131643949

Art Scroll 39 — Death Fish

The first Art Scroll in Chapter Eight —Clash at the Castle will be foundin the very first screen. After talking to the Pvt. Crystal and being instructed to protect the queen, you can promptly do what any sensible videogame protagonist would: ignore all commands and go rummaging for collectibles. The Art Scroll is to the far left of this page behind one of the fires left behind by Humgrump's rampage.

Art Scroll 40 — Concept - Area - Dino Land

After you've arrived at the destroyed Artia and dealt with the Humgrumpies, you'll want to head to the house in the far left-most side of the plaza, where you'll find this Art Scroll inside.

Art Scroll 41 — Character Art - Dinosaurs

This is a very easy Art Scroll to miss. After battling it out against the Humgrumpies in Artia Castle Plaza, you'll want to use the Metamagic portal to go to the 3D world and head right of The Plucky Squire book. Hidden behind some paints and a stack of books is an opening that leads to a palette, with the 41st Art Scroll being on the bottom-left of this small section.

Chapter Nine — The Magnificent Humgrump

Scrolls 42 to 50.

image 2024 09 17 131723893

Art Scroll 42 — Story Test

After completing the sneaking Pip's mini-game, you'll reach the Utter Dead End... which means that if you turn right, you'll find the 42nd Art Scroll right below the questionable pizza.

Art Scroll 43 — Concept - Area - Jail (HIGHLY MISSABLE)

In the 3D section of Chapter Nine — The Magnificent Humgrump, you'll need to head on out to find your equipment after the treacherous trio get stuck against spikes (that they could very clearly dash through!). Once the nefarious Plucky Squire heads on out and acquires his tools (namely, after grabbing the Sword, you'll eventually reach the Tilt Gauntlets. Behind the colour jars on the right of where you find the Tilt Gauntlets, you'll find the 43rd Art Scroll.

Art Scroll 44 — Concept - Character: Humgrump (HIGHLY MISSABLE)

This one is fairly easy to get and difficult to miss out on. After acquiring all of your gear, you'll arrive at a cutscene that shows you its location hidden behind a slew of pesky bugs that will block your path. Defeat them, and you'll earn your Art Scroll as a reward.

image 2024 09 17 131814910

Art Scroll 45 — First Sketches 3 (HIGHLY MISSABLE)

This one took me four tries to find, and the worst part is that it's not even that well-hidden. After you've acquired your sword and got Art Scroll 44, continue until you are down to the desk again beforeyou go back up to The Plucky Squire book. Walk down the path past the 10th-year birthday card and head left where there are two that you can go between. Here, you'll find two cardboard trees that you can break exclusivelywhen you have the sword.

Passing through that area, you'll find the 45th Art Scroll.

Art Scroll 46 — Concept - The Dark Desk

During the puzzle inwhich you will be using two Metal Crates to navigate, you'll find a diamond bust of the magnificent king, Humgrump. In this same puzzle, you'll be working to find the word "Broken" from the pipes, which will let you break the metal crates to advance, but most importantly, you'll want to use that same term to apply it to the diamond bust of Humgrump, which will fracture it. After this, use your Bomb Stamp on the statue, and you'll be able to destroy it, revealing the 46th Art Scroll.

Art Scroll 47 — First Sketches 4

Immediately after freeing Thrash and reuniting the Mojam, you'll find a familiar face: Martina! She'll sell you the Art Scroll for 20 light bulbs.

image 2024 09 17 131928406

Art Scroll 48 — Key Art - Concept 1

In the puzzle where you interact with your first Metamagic pipe, you'll find an explodable metal piece.Pop out of the book, go back with your Bomb Stamp, and blow it up to find the Art Scroll hidden inside!

Art Scroll 49 — Key Art - Concept 2

This Art Scroll is pretty unmissable. After completing all of the stealth sections as Pip, you'll find the last time you'll meet Martina, giving you the 49th Art Scroll to close out how many light bulbs you'll need to get through it all.

Art Scroll 50 — Key Art - Final

The final Key Art is right before you enter the Monumental Majestic Palace of Humgrump; you'll find this Art Scroll on the middle tree to the far right.

And that's it! Thankfully, despite the sheer number of Art Scrolls available in the game, this achievement is much easier than the Glitchbirds, as you can actually complete it throughout Chapter Replays! Thank you for following our guide.
