Cursed chests are one of the types of secrets in Banishers Ghosts of New Eden. Unlike other chests, you can't open them right away. They will only be unlocked during your first visit to Siridean Island in the Mire Marshes, the game's second region.

After interacting with any cursed chest, talk to the Seeker on the island. She will explain to you where to go to unlock the chests. You must go to the cabin in the Dark Woods, northeast of the hunting camp, in the same area where the blacksmith was hiding, behind a stone barrier that you will destroy with the Outburst skill. In the hut you will find a book that will teach Red the Unbounding ritual required to open the cursed chests. On this page we have explained where to find all the chests and how to open them.

How to open cursed chests?

To open a cursed chest, you must find three wooden figurines assigned to it. They are usually somewhere nearby, so you don't have to look far. After collecting all the figures, interact with the chest and perform the Unbounding ritual to remove the curse and receive the contents of the chest. The figures related to individual chests have different names, which we have listed in the headers of this page.

1. Chest location: The chest is located right next to the hut where you found the book with the Unbounding ritual. It serves as a tutorial for opening cursed chests. Inside you will find the Bane Ring - Soldier of Fortune.

1. Chest location: In the area west of the hunting camp. Inside there is a Saber & Firebane - Double Fangs.

1. The first figurine is located at the bottom west of the chest.

1. Chest location: The chest is located in the area north of the hunting camp, behind a cabin located high up. You have to squeeze past the building and use Antea's leap to the neighboring cliff. You will get the Amulet - Soul Grabber.

1. The first figurine is inside the crevice.

1. Chest location: The chest is located behind the drop-down bridge in the cave southeast of the hunting camp. You need to climb the cliff next to the bridge and shoot the ballast on its other side to lower the bridge. Inside you will find the Armband - Bridge of Artemis.

1. The first figurine is located in front of the drawbridge, on a shelf, under which you have to move the mine cart.

1. The second figurine is located on the path behind the abandoned bridge, behind a stone barrier, which you can destroy with the Outburst ability.

1. The third figurine is in a barrel suspended from a crane just after the lowered bridge.

The Dark Woods - The Warden

1. Chest location: The chest is located on the cliff behind the bridge to Boston. Inside you will find the Old Leech Rifle. To get here, you have to complete the Small Fortunes Haunting Case, which appears at the very end of the game, just before the point of no return - this will open one of the buildings in the abandoned mining camp nearby, allowing you to reach the other side of the canyon.

1. The first figurine is located on the middle path of the area, near the signpost.

1. The third figurine is on the other side of the crack next to the second figurine.

The Mire Marshes - The Soldier

1. Chest location: The chest is located in a tilted shack just east of the Old Marsh Encampment shelter. Inside you will find the Amulet - Wind-Chimes.

1. The first figurine is located in the building just to the north, right next to the blue chest. The entrance is barricaded - you have to go around the building from the back and destroy the wooden blockade with a rifle shot through a hole in the wall.

1. The second figurine is located in the forge next to the square where you met the Seeker, east of the cursed chest.

1. The third figurine is in the house right next to the closed chest, southeast of the cursed chest.

The Mire Marshes - The Sentry

1. Chest location: The chest is located in the cave west of the Old Marsh Encampment shelter, after clearing the area of fog. Inside you will find a Brooch - Mirror of Venus.

Mount Pleasant - The Explorer

1. Chest location: The chest is located on the westernmost cliff, near the northern end of the horizontal elevator. Inside you will find an Armband - Ursa Major.

1. The first figurine is located by the abandoned tent, on the way to the chest.

1. The second figurine is located in the well at the north end of the horizontal elevator.

1. The third figurine is located at the end of the cave, which you will enter by climbing the wall near the chest.

Mount Pleasant - The Navigator

1. Chest location: The chest is located in a small hut just outside the walls of Fort Jericho. Inside you will find a Brooch - Hawkeye.

1. The first figurine lies on the well right next to the chest.

1. The second figurine lies next to the corpse directly south of Fort Jericho.

1. The third figure is located on the path directly north of the chest.

Mount Pleasant - The Miner

1. Location: The chest is located in the mine beneath Fort Jericho, behind a wooden barrier on the upper floor of a large room with furnaces. Inside you will find the Bane Ring - Heart of Courage.

1. The first figurine is located by the elevator over a huge abyss.

1. The second figurine is in the powder warehouse, behind the barricade, through which the ghosts have broken through.

1. The third figurine is located opposite the cursed chest.

Mount Pleasant - The Climber

1. Chest location: The chest is located in a small cave southeast of Fort Jericho. Inside you will find the Outfit - Retaliation Armor.

1. The first figurine is located just north of the hut next to the chest.

1. The second figurine is further north, behind a stone barrier, which you can destroy with an Outburst.

1. The third figurine is located to the west of the chest, in a cave leading to the Frozen Vales shelter.

The Harrows - The Miller

1. Location: The chest is located on a high escarpment on the seashore, in the southern part of the region.

1. The first figurine is located on a stone hill near the broken bridge.

1. The second figurine is located a bit lower, behind the branch, which you will destroy with Outburst.

1. The third figure is located higher, on a small arena on the right.

The Harrows - The Sower

1. Location: The chest is located in the southeastern part of the region, on a hill overlooking the sea. Inside you will find Armband - Apotheosis.

1. The first figurine is located on crates under a tree.

1. The second figurine is on a boat set next to a wooden hut.

1. The third figure is among a pile of destroyed crates and the wreckage of a cart.

The Harrows - The Dowser

1. Location: The chest is located underground under the settlement in the Harrows region.

1. The first figurine is located to the right of the shelter in the sunken and destroyed hut.

1. The second figurine is located next to a corpse, in one of the cave corridors.

1. The third figurine is located among the abandoned crates, right next to the Altar.

The Harrows - The Shepherd

1. Location: The chest is located in the eastern part of the region, behind the farm building.

1. The first figurine is located next to a corpse south of the farm.

1. The second figurine is located among the bags, between the trees north of the farm.

1. The third figurine is located in the stone alley, north of the farm.

The Harrows - The Farmer

1. Location: The chest is located in the central part of the region, near the cemetery. Look for it on the rocky hill, behind the abandoned cottage. Inside you will find an Amulet - Protective Charm.

1. The first figurine is located among the graves, next to the ladder wagon.

1. The second figurine is located to the left of the cemetery, along the road.

1. The third figurine is inside the abandoned hut, opposite the cemetery.
