This page in our guide to Hitman 2 contains the most important and unique ways of assassinating Vanya Shah in Mumbai. The list consists of assassination methods that require you to, i.e. interact with specific items or wear certain outfits. Some of these methods are part of Mission Stories but it is possible to complete them independently from the missions.

1. Vanya Shah's default location is the abandoned train yard - she doesn't leave it unless she has to. The woman can speak with visitors, go to the place where she can drink tea or go to the side room to wash herself. New assassination variants can be unlocked in the train yard, i.e. you can deliver hot water to her private pool where Vanya likes to meditate.
2. Vanya can leave the train yard when she receives information about the meeting with the foreman. This meeting will take place on the bridge, near the laundry - it is part of one of the Mission Stories.
3. Vanya can also leave the train yard to meet with Dawood Rangan near the house on the beach. This also unlocks new assassination methods.
4. The train yard is a restricted area. Every entrance has guards - some of the disguises may lead to a situation where Agent 47 will get searched. However, there are a few ways in which you can sneak into this location, i.e. from the north or from the south after opening the lock of the wagons or one of the containers. The best way to walk around the train yard is by wearing the queen's guard outfit.

Me Time

This challenge isn't related to any Mission Stories. The entire challenge takes place in the train yard - try to acquire the queen's bodyguard outfit. You can get this disguise by, i.e. eliminating the single enemy in the bodyguards' wagon. The private pool is in the back of the train yard. Get closer to it - you will learn that it is out of service.

Reach the train yard's rooftop and go towards the water tank. A single guard stands to it - he can recognize Agent 47 even while wearing a disguise. Wait for the other two enemies to move away. Then, either distract or eliminate that guard and hide his body (this can be problematic to do). After that, approach the water tank and turn the pressure valve.

The next part requires a wrench - there are two of them in the area. One of them is in the small cabin on the train yard's rooftop.

Take the wrench and go back on the ground floor. Hide in the bushes near the private pool. Wait for the moment when Vanya Shah learns that water is back. The woman will enter the pool to meditate. Once this happens, use the wrench on pressure lock (see the picture above). Move away from the tank and wait for the pipes to explode due to high pressure. Vanya dies on the spot - the NPCs will treat this as a fatal accident.

Mumbai Blackout

This challenge isn't related to any of the Mission Stories and it isn't exclusive to Vanya Shah - to complete it, you have to kill all 3 targets with electricity. If you aren't able to eliminate all three targets, assassinate only one of them - this unlocks a separate (and minor) challenge called Mumbai Electric.

In Vanya Shah's case, a good way to electrocute her is to make her private pool useable again - this has been described in the previous challenge. Skip the part where you use a wrench. You will also have to find a Car Battery - you can find this item in various parts of the map, i.e. near the side entrance to the high-rise building, or on the junkyard. Take the car battery to the train yard. Throw it into the pool after Vanya enters it. The woman will die immediately.

Tea Time

This challenge isn't related to any Mission Stories. The first step is to get Shah's servant outfit. You can start this mission with the disguise already equipped (requires Mastery level 19 in Mumbai) or you can attack the servant near Shah's wagon. Throw an object into the bathroom and eliminate the servant after he enters it.

The bathroom in the Shah's also has a lethal poison.

With lethal poison in your inventory, go to the back of the train yard. Vanya Shah visits this place from time to time, however, don't pour the poison into the tea just yet. Her personal servant will want to try the tea first in order to check if it is poisoned. Invite the servant to drink the tea. After she is done, add poison into the cup. Invite Shah to drink it.

If you use lethal poison, Vanya will die on the spot. However, no one will suspect you. Alternatively, you can add rat poison and eliminate Vanya after she goes somewhere to throw up.

Everybody on Board

This challenge isn't related to any of the Mission Stories. It also requires you to eliminate both Vanya Shah AND the Maelstrom in a single action. You need to arrange a meeting between these targets.

Eliminate the Kashmirian, another assassin found on this map. Visit the chawls and find the blue gate which leads to the sniper spot. Approach the Kashmirian from behind and either knock him down or kill. Search his body - you will find the key to the flat and the USB drive.

Go to the Kashmirian's room located on the bottom floor of the residential building (its southern part). Take a look at the board with two mission targets, and the laptop. Insert the USB drive - you learn that both Rangan and Shah have posted assassination contracts for eliminating the other person.

Choose any assassination method that allows you to kill Dawood Rangan. You must eliminate this person.

The next actions should be performed in a slightly different order than that of your current Mission Story. Thanks to that you will be able to prepare yourself better for the assassination. Infiltrate the train yard, the location where you can find Shah. Go up the stairs to reach the rooftop of the train yard. The lever, presented in the picture above, is in one of the corners of the rooftop.

Now, head to the Container Area south-east of the train yard. Find the railroad switch (next to the railroads) - see the picture above. Insert the lever but don't use it just yet.

Reach any of the phone booths on the map, i.e. the one near the chawls. To use a phone, insert one coin into the slot (you can find coins near a cash register in every shop). Agent 47 will call Vanya Shah automatically. Your character tells her that he is the Kashmirian and that he has killed Dawood Rangan. Diana tells you that Vanya and the Maelstrom will soon meet.

Go back to the railroad switch. Make a save here in case you make a mistake. Activate the instinct mode or climb the container and look through the window. Vanya Shah and the Maelstrom must meet in the train yard, and they have to stand on the railroad tracks.

Pull the railroad switch lever and don't let it go until the train arrives (this can take several dozen seconds). The train moves on the track on the right and it will crash through the building, killing two mission targets (as well as several civilians).

Stand Still

This challenge is related to A Dress to Die For Mission Story. The full description of that assassination method can be found in the chapter dedicated to Mission Stories.

1. Reach the tailor shop in the slums and eavesdrop the conversation.
2. Follow the tailor and take his identity when you are alone with the man.
3. Go back to the tailor shop and determine which type of cloth Shah wants (this step is optional because Shah always wants the same color during every playthrough).
4. Visit the clothes stall and pay 5 coins. Take the Cerulean cloth (the blue one).
5. Meet with a servant near the train yard's entrance. Allow the NPC to search you (remember to remove all prohibited items from your inventories before you go there) and then reach the throne room.
6. Show Vanya Shah the blue cloth. Follow her to her wagon. Take the measuring tape from the table.
7. While taking the measurements, wait for Vanya Shah to turn around. Use this opportunity to choke her with the measuring tape. This is also a good chance for you to complete the Piano Man challenge.

In Cahoots

This challenge isn't related to any of the Mission Stories. It also requires you to eliminate both Vanya Shah AND Dawood Rangan in a single action. You need to arrange a meeting between these targets.

Start with acquiring a brick - go to, i.e. the construction site. After that, visit the junkyard. Enter the building presented in the picture above - you can recognize it by black smoke coming out of its chimney.

Inside, put the brick into the tank with hot substance. Don't hit anyone here - distract them with, i.e. a coin if you need. After leaving, you will notice that the smoke has turned red. Also, Diana informs you that Vanya and Dawood have left their locations.

The meeting will take place near the house on the beach (marked in the picture above) - the one with a sniper tower.

Stand in the spot that would allow you to take a clean shot at the hanging boat. Wait for Vanya Shah and Dawood Rangan to stand right below it. After that, shoot at one of the attachments holding the boat (try to do that from afar and by using a weapon with a silencer). The boat will fall on the targets, killing them.

Proxy Killer

This challenge is related to Broad Strokes Mission Story. The full walkthrough for that assassination method can be found in the chapter dedicated to the Mission Stories.

1. Find the Kashmirian in the chawls, and adjust his sniper rifle without getting noticed.
2. Reach the high-rise block and help the Kashmirian shoot Dawood Rangan (Agent 47 must be dressed up as a painter).
3. Go back to the chawls and examine the Kashmirian's flat located on the lower floor. Sneak into the flat and look through the scope again.
4. Reach the laundry. Stun or kill the foreman in his office and then wear the foreman outfit.
5. Speak with the guard and follow him to the bridge.
6. Wait for Vanya Shah to appear. Speak with her.
7. The Kashmirian will shoot Vanya while she is in the middle of her speech.

Free Bird

This challenge isn't related to any Mission Stories. It takes place in the train yard so try to wear a queen's bodyguard outfit. Your task is to drop one of the cages on Vanya Shah - the cages are in various places in the train yard. The best way to do that is to reach the upper balconies and choose one of the cages hanging between the throne and the tea booth. Save the game because it is easy to make a mistake here. Shoot the cage (preferably with a silenced weapon) when Vanya is moving between the aforementioned areas.

Hold My Hair

This challenge isn't related to any Mission Stories. It also doesn't require you to kill Vanya. However, this is one of the easiest ways of assassinating her. The only problem you can have here is to determine the right place where you can kill her.

Reach the water tank presented in the picture above. It is hidden on the side of the train yard, between the wagons. The entrance to that area is guarded by one guard but you can easily access that place from the wagon with the monitoring system. Simply use a lockpick to open that wagon's door.

Hide in the nearby bushes and wait for Vanya Shah to appear. She will want to wash her face. Approach her from behind and drown. Hide the corpse in the bushes.

Minor challenges

1. Straight Shot - Shoot the target when you and Vanya are alone in her wagon (do that by disguising yourself as the tailor).
2. Sniper Assassin - You can shoot Vanya without luring her out from the train yard. Reach the train yard from the south, and climb the container. Shoot through one of the broken windows.
