GTA 5 Continues to Amaze; Spectacular Results for Last Six Months
Take-Two has shared its financial results. And as has been the case for a several years now, GTA 5 sales are very impressive.
Take-Two has published financial report for the second quarter of fiscal 2023, the period between July and September 2022. It shows that Grand Theft Auto V has so far sold 170 million copies. At this point it is worth recalling that this May it was reported that about 165 million copies of GTA 5 were sold. This is a good indication of the popularity of Rockstar's hit - 5 million new buyers have been added since the last billing period. The entire series, meanwhile, boasts sales in excess of 385 million copies.
Rockstar Games also has reasons to celebrate because of the success of Red Dead Redemption. The series of Wild West games has sold more than 70 million copies, of which more than 46 million are due to the Red Dead Redemption 2. In this case, there was an increase of 2 million over the previous quarter.
Other game contributing heavily to Take-Two's success are NBA 2K22, NBA 2K23 and mobile titlessuch as Empires & Puzzles, Toon Blast, Words With Friends or Toy Blast. However, things are not as good as the publisher predicted in August, fresh after the acquisition of Zynga. According to the corporation's representatives, the reason for this is the global economic crisis, which causes consumers to spend less on mobile games. Thus, despite continued revenue growth (62% over the previous year), the company is also recording large losses overall ($257 million).
