Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2, as well as the entire Warhammer 40K universe, is known for spectacular battles. In SM2, the combat itself is quite gory and brutal, with a lot of blood everywhere. Fights are the essence of this production. So, it's no wonder that some players want to spice up the gameplay even more, choosing higher difficulty levels. Does WH40K Space Marine 2 poses a challenge? Is it a hard game? That's what you'll find out in our guide.

Is WH40K Space Marine 2 Hard?

Space Marine 2 offers 4 difficulty levels: Easy, Normal, Veteran and Angel of Death. Choosing higher levels will not make you earn more rewards; however, the gameplay will become much more challenging.

Answering the question whether Space Marine 2 is a difficult game, one would say: it depends. Mainly, on the level chosen. On the lower ones, the gameplay is accessible and relatively simple, to the point that you will complete the game “alone” (with AI companions), of course encountering some more challenging combats, especially if you are not accustomed to this kind of gameplay. The problem begins at the Veteran and Angel of Death levels. Then the gameplay is almost impossible to get through for a solo player. Mainly for two reasons:

  1. The significant increase in enemy stats means that your Space Marine will have trouble with basic enemies. Each of them deals a lot of damage, and because of their increased health bar, killing them is time-consuming and difficult.
  2. AI of allies is at a low level. Often computer-controlled characters don’t attack proper enemies, those who are the biggest threat. What’s worse, they can’t properly prioritize doing tasks like protecting given point. There is often no support in them, which makes you numerous times feel like you are playing solo.

Fans speculate that the Veteran and Angel of Death levels are so hard for one reason - they are designed for co-op rather than solo gameplay. Nevertheless, if you still think you can handle it, you certainly won't be saying that the game is easy on higher difficulty levels.

However, if you find that it's too hard for you, but still want a challenging battle, there's nothing stopping you from playing in co-op mode with other players.
