Players Claim Latest Baldur's Gate 3 Patch Broke Act 3; There's an Unofficial Solution on PC
Players continue to report problems in Baldur's Gate 3, most likely caused by patch number 4. Although Larian has not corrected the state of Act 3, there is an unofficial solution on PC.
Baldur's Gate 3 regularly receives larger and slightly smaller updates that fix some bugs. Unfortunately, not everything always goes as the developers intended - it happens that subsequent updates introduce additional problems that were not previously present in the game.
Frustrating in this regard for many players turned out to be the patch number 4, released in early November. It turns out that despite the release of several patches since then, Baldur's Gate 3 is still unplayable for some people.
What's the problem?
Recently, most people are complaining about the state of PlayStation 5 console version. The most problematic is the third act. A sizable number of players report having to wait up to several minutes for the game to load most models. However, even when fans show patience, they have to face additional adversity. The most common problems reported by players are:
- misbehaving NPCs that stand still all the time - this also applies to team members who do not follow the protagonist;
- random closing of the game and inability to load or save progress;
- frequent and long lags;
- inability to teleport or interact with objects and characters.
You can see the comically frozen world and textures loading before the player's eyes in a sample video shared by a fan playing BG3 on PS5 (below).
The bugs described above are so problematic that they discourage some people from continuing the game. Players may be all the more disgusted with the whole situation by the patches released by Larian, which, while correcting many of the ills (such as those related to romances, which a large part of fans complained about), do not fix everything, including the aforementioned technical condition affecting Baldur's Gate 3, which is apparently completely random. A lot of people are experiencing problems, while some are not dealing with similar things at all.
"This is an absolute joke. Act 3 on PS5 is the worst optimized part of the game since its release. It's hopeless because it's the only part of the game where you can get good items and it's the longest. The last patch made the game unplayable," writes Reddit user Lord_Despairagus
"I was in the middle of the second playthrough of the game and it is unplayable from act 3. Literally passing the Basilisk Gate your team stops following you and it [the game - ed. note] starts lagging," writes Reddit user rosecoloredxboy
Possible solutions
If you are one of the affected people who has a problem with Baldur's Gate 3's condition, then you can try an unofficial solution recommended by the fans. All you need to do is after downloading the appropriate console, copy into it the code shared by a certain Reddit user. Keep in mind that this method applies only to the PC version of the game and may not fix all bugs.
What if you have BG3 on PS5 and you still encounter problems spoiling the fun? Well, some gamers recommend restarting the game and the console itself and be patient. After all, the best solution is to wait for Larian's response until it brings the game's uneven technical condition of working order.
Baldur's Gate 3 is a huge game, and it's understandable that due to its sheer size, the developers may have trouble fixing absolutely everything. However, given the massive complaints from players and the changes in optimization announced by the head of Larian Studios, one can hope that the game's technical condition will be significantly improved soon.
