Resident Evil 4 Remake: Ranks S and S+ Resident Evil 4 Remake - guide, tips

For many, an important part of playing Resident Evil 4 Remake will be getting the best rank. From this page of the guide you will find out what requirements they have.

Last update: 11 April 2023

On this page of the Resident Evil 4 Remake guide you will find information about the S and S+ ranks. It's a challenge for those who want to milk the game for all its worth and, for example, unlock all trophies/achievements. We have explained what conditions need to be met in order to get the best ranks.

How to get the S rank?

Getting the S rank in Resident Evil 4 Remake should not be a problem. There is a set of conditions that needs to be met to earn an S rank, but you still have a certain freedom of choice. For example, you can get the S rank by playing in the New Game Plus mode with all the weapons and upgrades you've previously acquired. There are also no additional restrictions that can make this more difficult.

The only requirement for earning the S rank is to complete the game in a timely manner - Resident Evil 4 Remake: Ranks S and S+ - Appendix - Resident Evil 4 Remake Guide

The only requirement for earning the S rank is to complete the game in a timely manner. This limit varies depending on which difficulty level you've chosen. It looks as follows:

  1. Assisted - maximum 4h
  2. Standard - maximum 5h
  3. Hardcore - maximum 5h 30 min
  4. Professional - a maximum of 5h 30 min (with a maximum of 15 manual saves and no Auto-Save function)

There are no trophies/achievements associated with the S grade, but the A grade can already grant you rewards, i.e. collectibles in the Bonuses menu and then in the Extra Content Shop tab. Depending on the difficulty level, these can be unique weapons or cosmetic items.

How to get the S+ rank?

The S+ rank is a tougher nut to crack, because there is one condition that must be met - completing the game within a particular time limit in the first playthrough or, in other words, using a "fresh save." To get the S+ rank, you can't play in the New Game Plus mode, which allows you to transfer previously acquired weapons and upgrades to a new save.

In addition to the fact that you have to play "clean", what also counts is how quickly you will beat the game - Resident Evil 4 Remake: Ranks S and S+ - Appendix - Resident Evil 4 Remake Guide

In addition to the fact that you have to play "clean", what also counts is how quickly you will beat the game. It looks as follows for all difficulty levels:

  1. Assisted - maximum 4 hours (first playthrough)
  2. Standard - maximum 5 hours (first playthrough)
  3. Hardcore - maximum 5h 30 min (first playthrough)
  4. Professional - maximum 5h 30 min (first playthrough without the Auto-Save function and with a maximum of 15 manual saves)

This is, of course, something for the most persistent players, who know the game very well and are used to aiming on their own (at the Professional level, the option to use aim assist is blocked).

There are two trophies/achievements associated with the S+ grade. To get all of them, you don't need to obtain the S grade at the Professional level, Hardcore will be enough. It looks as follows:

  1. Mission Accomplished S+ silver trophy - S+ rank at the Standard level
  2. S+ Rank Investigator gold trophy - S+ rank at the Hardcore level

If you deal with these two, all that's left to do is complete the game with an A grade (max. 7 hours) at the Professional level - this is necessary to get the weapon needed to unlock the bronze trophy, Gun Fanatic. You will unlock the second weapon, not otherwise available, by completing the game on the Professional level in the New Game mode (without upgrades from New Game Plus).
