Holden’s special edition Commodore Z-SeriesSix appeal: Z-Series upgrades to the Holden Commodore SV6 sedan include 19-inch alloys, a reversing camera and rear parking sensors. Z-Series special edition packs bring more kit and style for Holden’s Commodore5 Sep 2012 HOLDEN has announced the specifications of its Commodore Z-Series special edition, which is applied to the base Omega sedan and Sportwagon plus sedan, Sportwagon and Ute versions of the SV6, SS and SSV variants. The special edition designation replaces the Omega nameplate of base sedan and Sportwagon variants, which gain a reversing camera, rear parking sensors, leather appointed upholstery and steering wheel and 18-inch alloy wheels. Extra trim turns adds extra sparkle to the entry-level Commodore, most strikingly the chrome-surrounded front fog lights and black headlight bezels, complemented on the sedan by chrome door frame trims and a lip spoiler. Both sedan and Sportwagon get chrome-rimmed instruments, Z-Series branded carpet mats and exterior badging while the Sportwagon is furnished with a cargo blind. Sporty SV6 and SS variants with the Z-Series pack are upgraded to 19-inch alloy wheels (the LPG SV6 retains its 18-inch items) with leather-bolstered seats. Like the base variants, Z-Series badges and floor mats are included, the sedans get chrome window surrounds and a reversing camera and rear parking sensors are standard (except on the Ute). Fort the SSV, Z-Series means 19-inch alloys, Brembo front brakes, FE3 sports suspension and the badges and floor mats, while the sedan also gets a sunroof. As GoAuto reported earlier this week, base petrol and LPG variants have also received a $2000 price cut, meaning the Commodore range opens from $37,990 (plus on-road costs) for the manual 3.0-litre petrol sedan. The Commodore Omega Ute misses out on the Z-Series treatment and retains its $35,490 price point. A new Alchemy purple exterior paint finish replaces the gold Mirage Glow colour across the VE Commodore and WM Caprice range, inspired by the Soprano Purple hue of Holden’s stunning retro-styled Efijy show car that appeared at the Sydney motor show in 2005. The Z-Series treatment could be a swansong for the VE Series II Commodore as Holden prepares for next year’s launch of the VF. Sales of the Commodore sedan and Sportwagon are down 26.8 per cent year-to-date and Ute sales are down 19.4 per cent – contributing to an overall Holden slump of 10 per cent.
