Take a look at Choose Pink in action! We recently launched the polyvinyl chloride (PVC) recycling ♻ program with Houston Methodist at its Outpatient Center in the Texas Medical Center. Choose Pink establishes a collection system for post-patient PVC items like nasal cannulas and masks, which will then be recycled by Westlake Dimex. Westlake Dimex is proud to participate in the "Choose Pink" PVC recycling initiative with Westlake Global Compounds and Houston Methodist! The program will establish a collection and recycling program for post-patient PVC items traditionally disposed of in the Outpatient Care Center of Houston Methodist Hospital. These materials will be transported to our plant in Marietta, Ohio to be weighed, ground, and processed into new products serving commercial and retail markets including matting, dock edging, landscape and paver restraints, and cable protectors. Similar programs have recently been launched across North America and we are excited to see the impact that can be made with this first-of-its-kind program in the Houston area! Westlake Global Compounds and Westlake Dimex, business units of Westlake Corporation, are proud to announce the launch of "Choose Pink," an innovative PVC recycling program with Houston Methodist. This initiative marks the first of its kind within a healthcare system in Houston, Texas. The "Choose Pink" program aims to establish a collection system for post-patient PVC medical items such as nasal cannulas, oxygen tubing, and saline bags, traditionally disposed of in the hospital setting. Implementing designated hampers and bags for these recyclables will eliminate the need for additional material sorting, streamlining the recycling process. Once collected, these items will be transported to Westlake Dimex's facility in Marietta, Ohio for recycling. While this is Houston's first PVC recycling program, similar successful initiatives have been implemented globally. Based on the more than 100 million pounds’ capacity of plastic recycled materials Westlake Dimex processes annually, the Marietta, Ohio-based company is one of the largest processors of post-industrial resins in the U.S. The material collected from Houston Methodist will be reprocessed into consumer and industrial products.
