“Proof is in the pudding” ~ William Camden My colleagues, Catherine Maloney, Paul O'Sullivan Peter Beutelmann, and I were on stage at our Regulated Industries Partner Summit to demonstrate validated proof of how Public Sector customers have innovated and gained value with SAP solutions. Two key takeaways were the need of empathy in digital transformation as our customers adopt and familiarize themselves with new tools at their disposal, and naturally the second takeaway was the time required to modernize. Digital transformation is a journey, not a destination.

Analysts Melissa Incera and Dan Thompson return to the podcast to dig into the data and discuss the ramifications for enterprises, datacenter builders and operators and those putting AI to work with host Eric Hanselman. The computational requirements of generative AI are unique, taking demands similar to high performance computing or cryptomining and spreading them across a vast new community of users. The demands for GPU-based capacity are consuming more power, sometimes with order of magnitude increases. It’s also driving retrofitting of existing datacenters. The need for higher capacity and innovations like liquid cooling are causing a new surge. We’re at the beginning of the shift from a focus on model training to greater amounts of inferencing, changing where capacity is needed.  Looking at money flows in this market offers additional nuance. Investments in AI startups have been massive. Capital investments from hyperscalers in their own infrastructure is also massive, but it remains to be seen if they’ll pay off in equivalent amounts of revenue. Is all of this sustainable? It’s an complicated question in the many aspects of the word."

We recently wrapped Vista’s 2024 Annual General Meeting, where we had a chance to bring hundreds of our investors together and reflect on the past year as well as the magnitude of the opportunity ahead in enterprise software.    Last year was a remarkable year for Vista. We eclipsed $100 billion in assets under management (AUM) and returned more than $9.3 billion to our investors in a climate that saw exit activity drop to its lowest levels since the financial crisis (as of 12.31.2023).   We also continued to judiciously put capital to work to grow our ecosystem, completing seven platform investments and 10 add-on acquisitions. Today, Vista’s ecosystem comprises more than 85 portfolio companies, with a workforce of nearly 100,000 employees doing business in more than 180 countries around the world. Additionally, our differentiated private credit platform – Vista Credit Partners – experienced record deployment into what we believe is one of the most attractive private lending environments in decades.    While I’m proud of our growth, I’m equally proud of how we got here. Vista’s success remains deeply rooted in our focus on discipline and consistency. These characteristics manifest in our underwriting and value creation capabilities, in our team and their commitment to our performance-oriented culture, and in our ability to repeatedly partner with great management teams to drive operational change.   These core attributes were all on display at our AGM. They have also helped Vista garner the continued trust and partnership of an incredible group of global investors, who share our conviction in unlocking the compelling value and growth that has long defined the enterprise software sector. Hugely appreciate it, some incredible hard earned nuggets of wisdom in this one -- I especially love the call outs that include not 'hiding' things, reconciling differences and the criticality of mapping comp and career paths. Services M&A is so hard period, and integration is often under-invested in and under-resourced. I have a big announcement to make.  In life, you back your winners. You back the people who exceed your expectations, exhibit a high level of integrity, energy, grit and give you as a leader leverage. Matthew Thompson is one of those special leaders, and today he is being promoted from GM of our public sector business to Chief Revenue Officer for all of Socure globally. Matt’s leadership at Socure has been transformative.  He has been at the forefront of our public sector business, leveraging his vast experience to build and scale our operations in an incredibly short period of time.  After only 2.5 years of serving the Fed and SLED Markets, Socure is now supporting 22 state agencies, 3 federal agencies, 1 Higher Ed Institution, and we’re in talks, pilots and integrations with dozens more.   On top of that, we’ve formalized 20+ meaningful strategic partnerships and already achieved several of the critical security and compliance milestones that are essential to doing business with the government. For anyone not familiar, that rate of growth is unheard of in the public sector. Matt’s commitment to excellence and putting in the extra effort that separates winners from the rest of the pack, has been nothing short of inspiring. He’s a tremendous motivator, communicator and possesses a rare sense of extreme ownership and accountability, something you want in every teammate. One of the most amazing things about Matt is his humility.  But he did share some numbers in a recent post that demonstrate the incredible transformations our team has created in the public sector under Matt’s leadership. 🔹 For one of our government customers, we were able to process 100% of applicants, with 95% being onboarded through auto-approval in less than one second. 🔹 For another agency, we showed them how using our solution would save their constituents more than 157,000 hours of time annually during digital onboarding 🔹 We replaced a bureau in another agency where we’ve demonstrated the ability to approve 24% more people that were otherwise being rejected while also stopping 82% in fraud losses that they were letting through 🔹 We are verifying almost 40% more 18 year olds than any competing solution on the market and verifying 92%+ of Gen Z constituents with almost 100% coverage of the US adult population I can’t wait to see what we will achieve together in Socure’s next stage of growth.
