Awesome work, still working. Vanilla plus with thin letterbox et less dof. I have taken off lettebox, vignette and dof, decreased saturation to half of it, and it looks amazing. thanks!
Got up to this point in your directions " 7. Launch the game. Don't press anything until the game loads up pass the splash screen, you should see the ReShade notification in the top-left of the screen in a big grey box telling it's loading its effects. If you click anywhere on your desktop as the game is initially loading, it'll likely open in a non-borderless window, which you don't want. If this happens just close the game and relaunch it. 8. Open ReShade menu with "Home" and select skip the ReShade tutorial, then use the drop down menu to select the preset you wish to use. " and got no reshade notification or reshade menu popping up.
This usually only happens if the reshade .dll file is not in the same folder or subfolder as the game's main .exe. In your game's "...Ubisoft Games\Assassin's Creed Valhalla" folder do you have the "dxgi.dll" and "reshade.ini" files? Also, in you have a subfolder in that folder called "reshade-shaders"?
If not, reshade is not installed correctly and I would restart the install process.
You can try using the latest version of ReShade from reshade.me. Just follow the instructions as you move through its menus. At some point it'll ask to you select a preset and then you'll just select one of my preset files (from this mod's files page) and then it'll auto-select which shaders you need to install. Continue till completed. If it reshade .exe installer asks if you want to overwrite anything say yes.
OMG, Dude, I almost am at a lost for words for how grateful I am for you making this AMAZING showcase of my collection! I just had a really tragic end to what was probably at least a crap year for most people. This made me feel better and appreciated. Anyway, I definitely would like to feature this on my mod page, if that's ok with you?
Also, I've been working on a two new presets for the game, another (much better, more delicious) take on a realistic preset and vivid preset that will hopefully blow your socks off! I post updates to my work and comparison screenshots all the time on Digital Dreams' Discord, which you can find here: https://discord.gg/k2H7bj4WA. Oh and you'll want to search this exact phrase if you want to see my posts only, though there are so many great pieces of work on there: "from: TheMercsAssassin#5231 in: reshade-workshop" (sans quotes, of course).
You'll find other very good ReShade authors there and people dedicated to making amazing vids like yourself. I can't stress how much seeing your post and vid made my day. Hell, it made my month. Thanks, Bro!
That's really weird. What version of the ReShade framework are you using? Please be sure you're using 4.7 not 4.8 or whatever the latest version available is. Also, you should not need to use Borderless Window mode for ReShade to work. I used to need to do that with older version of ReShade, but not for the newer versions, like 4.7. You also shouldn't need to rename the ReShade dxgi.dll file either. Basically it should work with fullscreen mode and the file just named to its default dxgi.dll.
Thank you for your reply. Yes I was using ReShade 4.8. Now I use ReShade 4.7 but there is different problem now : when I launch the game, it doesn't ask me to press "Home" button and doing a tutorial or not, instead it just said click on F4 but when I use an effect it doesn't save it. Strange, I and try to press "Home" but nothing happen.
Edit ! It's working ! I found why there was a problem. It was on Reshade.ini file, the path was for C: and my game is installed on another hard drive. So I changed the path ^^. It's working now. Thank you very much !
Ooh, I love when people make multiple presets in one mod.
Can't try at the moment but I'm just worried about the damage it'll do to performance. This game is already optimized like ass. Can't really even break 60fps half the time with whatever the very first reshade for this game is, and that's on high/very high 1440p with a 2080ti and 9700K. I wish it ran better :(
Hey, I understand your concern with performance, but I would still strongly encourage you to give it a try. I have each effect on toggle keys so you can disable things like my added bloom, chromatic aberration, depth of field, film grain and still keep much of the look of each preset. Whenever you toggle off an effect, you get the FPS back as if you deleted the effect (only you don't actually need to delete the effect, just toggle it off and see if your performance improves to where you want it.
Cheers friend, hope you'll come back and give it a try when you can! :D
I think I have followed the instructions precisley but I can only select the "vivid" preset in the reshade dropdown menu. Even when I delete every preset file from ACs main folder except for the souls one (which I want to use), it only shows the "vivid" preset. Any idea were I may have made a mistake here?
Hmm, it seems like Reshade is looking for the preset files in the wrong destination for some reason. My suggestion would be to delete the Reshade.ini and dxgi.dll files. Then reinstall the reshade 4.7 framework from the .exe and reinstall my files EXCEPT for the "Reshade.ini" file. That should give you a fresh reshade.ini file with the correct directories for your system.
Then you'll want to open the reshade.ini file and change the preprocessor setting about "depth_input_is_reversed" from 0 to 1 and save. Without this step, depth of field won't work correctly.
If you don't want to do a reinstall, then can you post a screenshot of your AC Valhalla full install directory and the contents of your full Reshade.ini file? Then I could assist from there.
Thank you for the quick reply! Did the reinstall like you said and its working perfectly now (oh just in case others have the same issue: also had to rename the.dll to d3d11.dll to avoid ctd on starting the game)
Looks very cool, looking foreward to whats to come!

Too bad because the effects are beautiful :-(
Cheers, really hope you can get it to work.

I'm sorry the installation isn't working right.
