item for the list of films a person has contributed to. Don't use it to add film items. Instead, add actors as "cast member" (P161) on items for films, directors with "director" (P57)

[edit]Merging with discography and (proposed) bibliography?
[edit]Please leave comments here: Property talk:P358#Broaden scope. --Kolja21 (talk) 17:58, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
named after (P138) constraint
[edit]I removed some named after (P138) statements from some filmography and then Koxinga pointed out on my talk page that they were added because there is a constraint saying the items should have named after (P138).
I think that constraint should be removed, it sounds really weird to me to say that something like "Sean Connery filmography" is named after Sean Connery, because it's not a proper/official name, it's only a descriptive label. We don't add named after (P138) for other things like that (e.g. categories, discography (P358)) either.
Any objections?

- We need a way to link filmographies to the item they relate to. Its name is one possibility. "performer" isn't optimal. If there is another way, we could use that. Maybe "main subject"? --- Jura 13:54, 14 November 2015 (UTC)
@Nikki, Jura1, Moebeus: Maybe changing it to an of (P642) qualifier to instance of (P31) might be better? This would require a complex constraint, though. (Alternatively the requirement could be removed altogether, since inverse statements are redundant to some degree.) Jc86035 (talk) 09:24, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
- I agree that it's (technically) redundant to link the filmography back to the person, but in practical use only more "advanced" users realize that, since visualizing it on the page requires a userscript. As long as that's the case I think inverse statements are useful. Could main subject with a qualifier of object has role perhaps do the trick? That way we could easily distinguish between filmographies where the main subject has the role of director vs producer vs actor. Moebeus (talk) 09:52, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
- I'd be ok with main subject (P921). I don't think qualifiers are generally of much use for P31. --- Jura 12:25, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
Unless there is some argument not to do it, I'd update named after (P138) and performer (P175) to main subject (P921) and change the relevant constraints. --- Jura 08:34, 27 October 2020 (UTC)

films added instead of filmography

Groups of people?
[edit]Groups of people such as K-pop (Q213665) girl group (Q641066)s like Twice (Q20645861) have a filmography (P1283) statement because they make content as a group or participate in TV shows as part of their job as an entertainer.
As you can see on Twice (Q20645861)'s filmography (P1283) statement, this causes statement flags because the item is not instance of (P31) a human (Q5).
This issue of groups having filmographies could possibly not be limited to KPOP groups. Internet content creator groups such as Offline TV (Q65120827) could have ones in the future as well.

- Notified participants of WikiProject Movies To solve this I changed all of the item-requires-statement constraint (Q21503247)s to suggestion constraint (Q62026391)s, however can we honestly just remove all of the item-requires-statement constraint (Q21503247)s? --Lectrician1 (talk) 19:10, 22 May 2021 (UTC)
