Ubisoft Updates Publishing Schedule; Mysterious Big ame Delayed

Ubisoft is still in the red, but thanks to belt-tightening and good sales of Assassin's Creed: Mirage and The Crew Motorfest, it is slowly climbing out of the hole. This process could have gone faster if a certain „big game” had not suffered a delay. It could be about Star Wars: Outlaws.

Ubisoft has published the financial report for the first half of fiscal year 2023-2024, i.e. the period from April to September. We learn from it that:

  1. the total revenue of the French company during this period amounted to just over 836 million euros - this is 14.3% better than in the same period of fiscal year 2022-2023;
  2. sales of Ubisoft's games, DLC, subscriptions, virtual items etc. have increased, generating 822.4 million euros in revenue; a result 17.6% better than that achieved in the first half of fiscal year 2022-2023;
  3. the result achieved in Q2 was better than expected in the financial report for the first quarter of fiscal year 2023-2024 - the company estimated that games, etc. would generate revenue of €350 million, meanwhile it amounted to 554.8 million euros;
  4. after deducting viable expenses, however, it turns out that so far this fiscal year Ubisoft is recording a loss of $34.4 million - nevertheless in the same period of the previous fiscal year it was several times higher (190.2 million euros), which shows that belt-tightening has yielded some results.

Good game sales

Also contributing to Ubisoft's improved financial performance were very good sales of two games:

  1. Assassin's Creed: Mirage - which turned out to be the best "next-gen" launch of the French;
  2. The Crew Motorfest - which is the best-rated installment of the series.

Updated release calendar

From the report we also learn something about several upcoming Ubisoft games:

  1. Skull and Bones - is scheduled to be released in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2023-2024, i.e. between January and March 2024.;
  2. another "big game" from the French, which was supposed to come out at that time, was delayed and will hit the market in the fiscal year 2024-2025 at the earliest - it can be guessed that it is either Star Wars: Outlaws or some unannounced project, as the release of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is invariably scheduled for December 7, 2023, and other gamesof this caliber are unlikely to be released by Ubisoft in the relatively near future (indeed, it seems doubtful that it will be about Assassin's Creed: Red, as the interval since the release of AC: Mirage would be too small);
  3. before the end of March 2024 the studio is also expected to be released XDefiant, The Division: Resurgence and Rainbow Six Mobile.
