Marvel's The Defenders, or simply The Defenders, is a television miniseries based on the Marvel Comics team of the same name. It is a crossover event between Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. It is set after the events of the second season of Daredevil, the first season of Jessica Jones, the first season of Luke Cage and the first season of Iron Fist. It is the seventh television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The series was produced by Marvel Television and ABC Studios, and originally released on Netflix.
The first and only season was released on August 18, 2017.
On February 11, 2022, it was reported that the series would be leaving Netflix on March 1.[1] Along with the rest of the individual series, The Defenders was announced to be available to stream on Disney+ on March 16.[2]

On April 15, 2016, it was announced that Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez would serve as showrunners of the series.[3]
On October 31, 2016, it was reported that the series had begun production under the working title "Group Therapy".[4][5]
On February 17, 2019, Jeph Loeb wrote a letter to the fans of the canceled Marvel Netflix series.[6]
